Can I give negative stars?? I don't even know where to begin with this place. They have HORRIBLE customer service. The lady in the Wasilla store was awful to my mother. They sold her a wood stove that was missing parts and then REFUSED to sell her the replacement parts. If at all possible, find another store to give your business to. My husband entered the Soldotna location to inquire about a stove part and was rudely told by the man behind the counter that he did not have any knowledge of stove parts and would not sell him anything or assist him. Absolutely NOT going to have them do any work for me! Just got off the phone with Heather in the Wasilla office. She had called me to see about rescheduling the appt for 11:00 tomorrow to get a quote for installation of a wood stove I already own. This was already a reschedule from 1:00 a week ago when he didn't show up. THE WHOLE STORY: On Thursday,11 days ago, I called (may have been Michelle) and was given appointments for wood stove installation quote at 1:00 the next Monday, and repair of my Toyo stove at 2:00 that same day - different techs. I provided the error code from the Toyo, EE8 blower motor malfunction. Also asked if they could replace the fuel filter at the tank. Monday came and at 1:23 I called to ask where the wood stove guy was. First I was told I wasn't on the schedule. When I insisted I was, I was put on a long hold, then I was told my appointment was for the next Tuesday at 11:00. I told them I was NOT wrong about the appointments. I was told the wood stove guy was in Willow and would not be available until next week. They did send someone to look at the Toyo (nice guy). He didn't have the parts needed, wasn't a vehicle he usually used, he wasn't the "Toyo guy ", I hadn't been on his schedule, he worked for a different company but same owner. He did check the Toyo and it needs a new blower motor. Said he would get it from a supplier in Anchorage. He called the office and scheduled the repair for Thursday at 3:00. He called me the next day to tell me he got the motor $345 and the fuel filter and that the Toyo guy would be the one doing the repair. Mid-morning Thursday I get a call wanting to reschedule and was initially told they didn't have the part. I said I know they got the parts. I wasn't at home and I'm told if he can't do it earlier then he can't do it at all. I HUNG UP ON HER! I got a call from the Toyo guy later same day about the repair and told him no, not going to reschedule and they need to do something about the receptionist/scheduling staff. Now it's the day before the appointment for the wood stove quote and they "need" to reschedule it again. I'm told someone was "out, injured" last week and that's the reason for the scheduling problems. I'm being lied to! Heather is either lying today or I was being lied to last week, or both. DON'T LIE TO ME. YOU'RE GOING TO GET CAUGHT WHEN YOU LIE. PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE BEING LIED TO AND WILL CHOOSE NOT TO DO BUSINESS WITH YOU! I AM HEATING MY HOUSE WITH AN ELECTRIC SPACE HEATER, RATHER THAN DO BUSINESS WITH SOMEONE WHO CHOOSES TO LIE TO ME. I am a 64yo woman, 5'2". I have an aortic aneurysm and leaky heart valve and I'm not supposed to be doing anything strenuous or stressful. I will likely end up having to repair the Toyo myself, and install the wood stove too. BETTER NOT GET A BILL FROM THEM!!! read more

We recently had to replace our furnace and it was a unique order. I called around to several companies looking for the correct furnace. I believe the gentleman's name was Forrest at fire&flu in Wasilla found a furnace for me in short order. They were up front about the pricing and they removed the old furnace and installed the new one for me. They did everything that I asked of them. I'm fairly certain that the new furnace has cut down my heating bill considerably! read more

We were charged 6 1/2 hours of labor for a three hour and 45 minute job. Be forewarned you're paying over $100 for them to drive to your place which is bogus. They came ill prepared they did not have the power tools charged and we had to get the generator out to charge their own tools and use her own gas. On top of it they were $800 over the quote I will never do business with this company again and I suggest you look elsewhere. read more

I will give them a "0" out of 10. We were trying to have a cleaning and a cap put on the fireplace stack for a house that we have in escrow.. 4 times they said they are coming and "no call, no show." The third time someone showed up driving his own vehicle and unprepared to do the work so had to reschedule, only no one was ever notified. When we call back, the story is always the same, "someone called out sick and employees are forced to drive their own vehicles." Twice they couldn't find our name on the schedule. "Fly by the seat of your pants" outfit for sure. Best to try some one else. We will be renting a boom truck and doing the work ourselves. So frustrating! read more

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!! We purchased our wood stove on July 8th. We told them it may be a bit before we were ready to have it installed because we had to install flooring etc. We scheduled them to install the first part of September. The day before, I called to confirm our appointment and was told everything was good to go for the next day. The next day they called right before the scheduled appointment time to cancel! They said they were missing a part and would have to order it. You would think they had plenty of time to make sure they had all the right parts. They ordered the part and rescheduled for about two weeks later. The manager called to schedule a little bit sooner as she said the part had come in. Guess what? The day before the appointment they called to cancel again! This time it was be because they were missing multiple parts! What??!! Of course I was livid and wanted to know when the parts would be in and when could I be scheduled to have my wood stove installed. I could not get any answers and was told the owner would give me a call back. The owner did not call. Horrible customer service! I was driving through Wasilla the next day and decided to stop in to see if I could get any answers. Their response was that they would keep bugging the owner to call me. What??!! You have to bug the owner to call a customer who's been jilted twice and can't get a response. What kind of company does this? I finally asked them to just call the owner while I was standing there. The employee obliged and rang him up. I got a song and dance about the parts being hard to get (they had 2 months) and that they should be in soon. He threw his manager under the bus and blamed her for not verifying my parts were in. Really? I wouldn't want to work for him after that. I told him I needed to know so that I could decide if I wanted to go with another company. Miraculously he then said they had the part in their Homer store! You just said you were waiting on the part!! OMG! I was told they would have the part at the end of the weekend and they would call to schedule an appointment. I waited two days and didn't get a call. Apparently they had to wait for their installer to physically be back in Wasilla from Homer to schedule. What happened to phone calls? The next week I still hadn't heard from them so of course I called. I was told I was scheduled for the following weekend and "didn't anyone call you?" No, no one called me to actually schedule the appointment. I decided at this point I could not trust this company and wanted a refund for the purchase of the stove. Thankfully that was not an issue and the manager issued it. I decided to go a head and keep the metal hearth pad I had ordered and saw on a previous visit. I told the manager I would be down to pick it up the next day. The worker guy tried to give me an inferior tile one that he was still working on. I told him I paid for the metal one siting right in front of us. He said he would have to call the manager to see if that was ok. Really??!! You couldn't have put my name on it or told them I was coming to pick it up? I then went with another company in Anchorage and picked up all the necessary parts. They had everything in stock and they didn't miss an installation all summer due to slow deliveries. What a difference! Of course now it was the end of the summer and their installer is backed up until November. Oh well...their customer service was far superior! I learned from two companies after this that Alaska Fire and Flue has a really bad reputation and that these two companies have to fix a lot of their installation mistakes. This may have been a blessing in disguise. Their complete lack of follow through and customer service really had a negative impact on us and our cabin build. Without heat it was difficult to get drywall and other installations done. We were going to move into the cabin from our rv before it got too cold. Instead, we have 5 cords of wood all ready to go, no wood stove until mid November, and burning through propane like crazy in the rv. They are the most untrustworthy company I have ever worked with. read more

Have ALWAYS had amazing and friendly service! We purchased our wood stove from Fire & Flue in October 2013 and have had Fire & Flue clean the stove every year since. Ben was pleasant and helpful, provided information on each stove and helped us pick a stove to purchase without being pushy or high pressure. Ben was an amazing help with installing the stove. He went over the different options for placing the stove in our house. Made sure that everything was working well and everything was cleaned up before leaving. Each year with the stove and chimney cleaning, Ben has always worked with us to schedule the cleaning, took care to keep the soot contained, and has always been extremely friendly and professional. We will continue to call on Fire & Flue, and Ben, for all our wood stove and chimney cleaning needs. read more

We ordered our fireplace from Alaska Fire and Flu in November. It arrived in early December and we started construction in January. We wanted them to install the fireplace and build just the bench and frame work. My husband and I planned to do the finish work. The bench was built and a hole cut into our house from the inside to the outside for the fireplace stove pipe. At this point the installer realized a specific part was not the correct size for the stove pipe. They put plastic over the hole on the exterior of the house, in the coldest months, and left us with an unfinished fire place. We were told the correct parts would be here in 2-3 weeks. Well that turned into 8 plus weeks. They left all their wood in our garage while we were waiting for the parts to come in. I was fine with the 2-3 week wait but not 2 months. I voiced this in the beginning of the dilemma and they did not want to pay extra for the shipping to be faster and assured me it would only be 2-3 weeks. After months of waiting they had new people working there. Daniel and Amed came to finish the job. They were excellent. They came at the time they said they would and worked fast and efficiently. Once we thought they were finished with their part we began the finish work. This is when we realized there was a minor gas leak and the frame and base structure were built 3/4 of an inch off center. They promptly came and fixed the gas leak which was awesome. Luckily we were enclosing it ourselves or I do not think the gas leak would have been noticed. Our fireplace was built in between two windows so this 3/4 of an inch would be very noticeable. They had to come and uninstall everything and move it over and reinstall. The base of the fireplace was still not centered, but we knew that and said we would make the modifications to make it correct. From start to finish with them it took around 5 months. We were told the project would take approximately 3 days. Some things I really appreciated about this company was that I almost always could get a hold of someone. I was really nervous that this project wouldn't get finished because every time the date for our parts to come in arrived, it would be pushed back another several weeks. Also, I liked everyone that I communicated with and felt comfortable with them being in my house and talking with them; Doug, Forrest, Kiana, Daniel, Amed & Cecil. Overall, they got me the fireplace I wanted and installed and finished the work we asked for. There were actually several other issues we had but I just wanted to touch on the main ones in this review. I don't feel like I could recommend this company just because of how many things went wrong through the whole process and in no way were we compensated. I was in disbelief some sort of discount was not offered. read more

Ben just completed the installation of an Osburn insert plus a stone surround and a hearth. It was installed over an existing open fireplace and an ugly surround. Ben did a great job, it took several visits because of other scheduled work load and setting and drying times needed. The big thing for me is he came when he said he would, he is very detailed and focused. The quality of work is good and I am pleased with the finished product. Ben took great care to protect the work area from as much mess as was possible and always cleaned up after himself so I was left with very minimal clean up. Just stay out of the way and let him do his job and you will be pleased. If you want a full install on a fireplace with insert or stove he's your guy!!! Thanks Ben read more
