I've been to comic book stores in many major cities and small towns alike. This is by far my new favorite. The range of manga from niche to popular was incredible, as well as the vast collection of comic books from many different publishers and in many genres. The prices are good and the range of what you can get is enough to make a nerd cry tears of joy. There's also an emphasis on LGBTQ focused literature. High quality art supplies being sold here, too! Such a rare find in Juneau. Visiting Alaska on a Pcruise and decided to check out the town with my sister. The awesome salesperson at Shoefly recommended Alaska Robotics and it was SO much fun. The place where you would not expect an comic book store: Juneau Alaska. How cool this store is? Very! If you are looking for weekly instalments of your favorite superhero, do not bother. AR does not carry that kind of book. It would be hard delivering that remote I can imagine. Alaskan Robots does stock a premium selection of graphic novels, trades and manga. Next to the usual superhero stuff like Batman, Spider-Man, Superman and The Avengers you can find independents gems like The Forgotten Man and books from the Always brilliant Publisher 01. The store also sells posters and arts. The atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming. Alaskan Robotics is not a typical American comic book store. Far from it. It looks and feels like a 'real' book store. The owner is nice and very interested in where you from and what you are reading. I was looking for a few new comics, while I was on an Alaskan cruise, but left with three very good graphic novels. If you like your comics and are in Juneau Alaksan Robot is a must visit. read more

I'm not a reader of comic books or graphic novels, but I still think Alaska Robotics is the coolest shop in Juneau. It has a little something to do with the "gallery" part of their name. In addition to the reading selection, they have the most awesome and quirky original art available as prints, postcards, calendars, T-shirts, etc. This place is a must-visit if your goal is to find something local to take home. I was around for Gallery Walk 2016 when owner Pat Race unveiled his "Postcards from Juneau" series. It perfectly sums up soggy and seemingly random life in Juneau. I can't say that outsiders will get all of the references, but I still bought a stack to mail to my favorite people. The original artwork alone makes them superior to generic postcards. I'm kind of regretting not purchasing any prints, but they would have gotten crushed on the journey home. I intend to make it up to myself by ordering a few online. It's baffling how tourists mob the cruise ship company owned/backed shops when there are gems like Alaska Robotics just a little farther from the docks. The stronghold of local businesses in and around Front Street is solid and growing and that makes me feel better. When traveling, there is no greater pleasure than patronizing local shops and walking out with unique items. And in the case of Alaska Robotics, don't be like me and just buy the dang prints. read more

This place has some of the best stock coverage I've ever seen in a graphic novels shop. Usually, especially in smaller cities and towns, stores will only have a few volumes from some of the biggest stories around, but this one had quite a lot and not only that, it seemed to have all the first volumes. I hate when I go browse around and find something that sounds cool, only to find out that the first one is missing. I found the third volume of "Bandette," and bought that, since I have about 20 unread GNs at home and I didn't want to re-buy one I already have. This shop may not be huge, but if you love graphic novels or want to check out some cool and quirky art, don't miss this place. I was on an Alaska cruise and just wandering around Juneau when I found this little gem of a shop. I'm not that much of a comic book collector these days, but they had a pretty good board game selection. I was happier to find Alaska Robotics than just about any other store in Juneau. read more

I'm just dipping my toes into graphic novels, and this place seemed to have a good variety. Its very clean and well laid-out. It's also smart enough to have other merchandise such as local artist stickers, posters, prints, and cards. The store owner is an active artist and he gave me a great, hand-designed map of Juneau's attractions. I think this little place is gem in the sea of tourist traps in downtown Juneau. read more

This place is a gem, totally outside of what you would expect in a touristy area. Even if you aren't into comic books they have delightful art, music from local artists, great unique tee shirts and art supplies. This place was my favorite during my visit to Juneau! read more

Amazing graphic novel store! They aren't gonna have biweekly releases. I love their tshirts. We wanted one in a different size and he printed one up right there for us. If you're visiting and your home town doesn't have a shop like this, check it out. Support indie shops. Very cool. read more
