Kaven has been going for 13 years and invited me this year. He has stayed A LOT of different places in Alaska and has chosen Bill's place for the past 5 years...an EXCELLENT choice! The people, amenities, view, EVERYTHING about this place is SUPERB! Even Bill! :-) Bill's wife, Ogie...crazy! I love it! She is the most happiest person I have ever met and makes you feel at home. Warning...she dances around even with NO MUSIC! The Kenai River was approximately 26 steps from the door of my two story cabin. Eagles and fish...everywhere! I cannot say enough great things about this place, I truly do not have the words. If you want an excellent place to hang your hat while in Alaska between Anchorage and Homer...this is the place! Warning #2-Book fast as I already booked for next year! I've been to all 58 states and 4 continents, this was my direct quote to the gang on the morning we were leaving and they will verify, "Y'all, I'm not going back with y'all. I've already filled out my missing persons report and y'all just say you saw me walk off into the woods". I really wanted to stay that bad! PS. This is Trey. Brad is my "Ghost" name. :-) PSS. They are a family owned and operated guide, lodging, and excursion service that caters to fishermen, photographers, and wildlife / bird watchers. I use their services annually for my workshop participants and I couldn't be more thrilled. Each year, they literally make my group and I feel like family. The cabins are every bit as nice as a house--with modern amenities, immaculately clean rooms, a well-appointed kitchen, and the conveniences you'd expect from home! The Marlow's are long-time Alaskans and know the area very well. They are excellent birders, wildlife and fishing guides. Each year, I'm able to spot 60-85 species of birds in the area through the help of Ken and his family. We are even treated to eagle-watching from the nest that sits across the deck from our cabin. Their equipment, boats, gear, and facilities always seem to be in excellent condition. You can tell they have a real eye for safety and quality. The Marlow's facilities are in a perfect location and I just can't say enough about their service. They have treated my groups and I SO well over the years that I can't imagine going anywhere else! I'm always looking forward to my annual return! I've also used their other family-based facility in Seward, AK, "The Seward House," which is a vacation-rental style 3-bdr. furnished apartment right in Seward. It is also extremely clean, well appointed, and has a wonderful location and view. I can tell how much they care about their customers---the service and family-friendly approach win me over every year!

We were very late in checking in, and the owners stayed to welcome me. That really shows they care about their business and they are professional and friendly. If you were going on a fishing expedition, this would be a very good option as it has several amenities: fish freezers, a LARGE outdoor jacuzzi (clean and HOT!), most cabins have kitchens, and it even has a canoe for communal use (they have new lifejackets in variety of sizes.) I didn't bring my computer, but they also have wireless. I brought a DVD, but unfortunately my room didn't have a DVD player. They have satellite cable with flatscreen tvs. My room was small, but the linens were very comfy and the price was very low; I feel I got an excellent value. It looks like they have great options for both small and big parties. A large group could rent a whole house, and they have private, 2-person cabins for those on a quiet getaway. I would definitely stay here again.

The accommodations are very nice and Dave and Katie have added several conveniences, such as Wi-Fi, washer/dryers, BBQ's, a hot tub, and canoe for the lake to name a few. I stayed in the Mallard Cabin which had a small kitchen, living room, bed room and bathroom. It was perfectly sized for a couple or a couple with small children. The cabin was well equipped and comfortable. Alaska Serenity Lodge is conveniently located five minutes from Soldotna and the Kenai River. There was plenty to do in my off time, I was fortunate enough to catch a 100 Halibut during my stay. Its a stone's throw from the river, which makes this popular with locals when the fish are running and the banks are swamped. The RV hook up sites are fancy and even have a dog park and fancy picnic tables. The dry tent sites have chemical toilets and a mix of wooded and open camp sites, depending on your anxiety about animals. This place is a little tricky to find, just look for the airport- its directly BEHIND IT. It runs parallel and has an entrance at either end.
