At times it almost seems as if it fights with the creativity it provides home to but though sometimes harsh, the vivid shades and strong lines are fun and often surprising. Overlooking this run down area of the river, the building surveys its surroundings with a sweeping contemporary arc. This bold modernism won the building the 2003 RIBA building of the year and well befits the often cutting edge work which its students produce both inside and [occasionally] outside. Two performance spaces, the Bonnie Bird theatre and the Studio Theatre play host to work from professional touring companies and the students of the Centre it is here you are likely to witness the choreography of the next Lea Anderson, or enjoy the bodies that will make up the contemporary dance companies of the next decade. This exciting building houses exciting development, and a real aura of energy surrounds it. Fledgling dancers, choreographers, scenographers and more are here just waiting for an audience. The architecture itself demands a viewing in its own right, but as a leading centre for contemporary dance Laban is certainly an establishment worth supporting.

You want good comfortable seating, a good sound system (rare these days it seems), internet access, a decent temperature, and a location that allows everyone room to stay comfortable and mingle easily. The Unicorn Theatre For Young People produces and commisions plays for young people from 2-21 years of age.It's artisitic director is the inspired Puni Morell who came from the National Theatre. This December Unicorn is celebrating ten years in it's custom-built, RIBA Award-winning building on Tooley Street. The founder of the Unicorn Caryl Jenner believed that theatre for young people should be non-compromising and of the very highest quality her vision lives on at the Unicorn.

The prices reflect the basicness of this theatre but in no way is it uncomfortable. I love the entrance into the auditorium, theres a number of historical plaques for shops present and past. I was incredibly surprised to see my Grandfather's restaurant plaque there. See if you can spot the Mr Chung Plaque for me if you go! It's also in central greenwich and easily accessible and right bang on the doorstep of a number of bars and the park.

It shows a variety plays for adults and children and their program changes regularly. There are many pubs and restaurants around the theatre, however the theatre does have a bar. Overall, a good evening out. It does get hot in there though!
