Albergo Miramare will hands down be our go to hotel in Positano. My husband and I both agree the location of Albergo Miramare is ideal when traveling to Positano. It is located in the middle so you walk down a few flights of stairs from the main road or down several flights to the beach depending on where you are going. Whether you are going up to the main road for dinner or down to the dock for a boat tour, you minimize climbing stairs with this prime location. Don't get me wrong there are stairs on all paths but we found our hotel to be in the best possible spot as opposed to being located at the top of the mountain creating a long climb home each day or at the bottom where you would have a long climb up each day. Beyond the ideal location, here are the other reasons my family will look no further for hotel accommodations when traveling to Positano. Staff: The staff were so easy to communicate with from the very beginning. After booking our apartment for the week, my husband's work conference dates changed in Sicily. I emailed the staff at Albergo Miramare and within hours they adjusted our dates with no issues. Danielle and Nicola were incredible with arranging transfers to and from the airport for my family. They assisted us in chartering a private boat to Capri which was our favorite day of the trip. Every staff member we encountered from reception, porter service , housekeeping and restaurant staff were all friendly and professional. Room: We booked the apartment for our family of four. Our apartment was located across the steps from the reception office and only a few steps up from the hotel restaurant. The apartment had two bedrooms, two full baths, two closets, a small lounge area in the master bedroom and a full living area between the two bedrooms and hallway connecting the two bedrooms. The apartment was spacious and having the full living area was a nice feature when taking breaks from the heat during the day. The air conditioning was of US standard as it really cooled the entire apartment unlike many other air conditioning units we have experienced in our travels abroad. The beds and pillows were soft and comfortable which made for a good nights sleep. Housekeeping changed sheets and replaced towels daily. The private balcony was the icing on the cake for us. It was spacious with two tables for enjoying dinner and four lounge chairs for resting and enjoying the views. The view was so picturesque from our private balcony. Restaurant: The breakfast included in our room rate was served daily from 7:30-10:30 in La Scalinatella. The restaurant was just beautiful with a paper tree draping from the ceiling and walls. The views from the restaurant are the best you will find in Positano. Each morning there was a diverse buffet served with fresh fruit, cooked vegetables, cheese selections, sliced meat selections, eggs (boiled, scrambled and fried), bacon, sausage and hash browns. Each day they offered different sweet options such as a lemon cake, ricotta torte, pancakes and chocolate cake. Once seated you were also served a selection of crossaints. Between the beautiful setting and the nice selection of breakfast options it was a delightful way to begin your day. Be sure to request the hotel's porter service upon your arrival and your departure as they will meet you at the road to carry down your luggage. Should you have an early morning departure they will carry up your luggage the night before and lock it in their storage unit to prevent you from carrying it up yourself upon your departure. Be sure to arrange this valuable service. If you are looking to book your stay in Positano then look no further as Albergo Miramare is such a gem. read more

Extremely unsettling experience at the restaurant. The most serious issue: our table being photographed by male staff members appeared to be happening and was witnessed by multiple women at our table. The bartender and a bald male staff member stood behind the white swinging bar doors across from us, laughing and repeatedly looking at a phone aimed in our direction. One of them then raised the phone over the doors. After the meal, I directly asked the bartender whether he had taken a picture of our table. Instead of answering clearly, he repeatedly appeared to deliberately misunderstand ("Oh, you want a picture?"), then became visibly nervous when I corrected him: "No, I mean earlier, behind the door." He laughed and claimed it was "a picture of the view." This made no sense. It was already dark outside, the restaurant lights were bright enough to reflect the interior onto the windows, and the bar area was positioned somewhat far from the windows. More than half of our table was women. It was deeply uncomfortable and, frankly, disturbing. There were other disappointments as well. Our party of six was informed only after being seated that we were required to order an exotic tasting menu rather than being allowed to choose individual dishes. A young female server with glasses was polite and genuinely helpful in trying to work with the chef so our table could agree on a single menu, and she was one of the few positives of the evening. Even so, the final bill exceeded €1,000 for food that was merely average. There was also a simple request to have something served on the side that wasn't, but that was just a small mistake. The restaurant itself is visually beautiful. However, what strongly appeared to be photographing guests, followed by an evasive response when questioned directly, crossed a line that no atmosphere or presentation can make up for. Privacy and professionalism should never be optional at that price point. read more

Hotel Miramare was easily the highlight of our Honeymoon in Italy. I was a little nervous booking a place of this price, but it was well worth it. Carmela & her team was amazing. Everyone at the front desk was so nice and helpful with our check-in and check-out. They really went above and beyond for us. We were surprised with a bottle of prosecco to start our honeymoon stay with them, and were given a lovely painting of the hotel view on our last evening. They even set up a private car to pick us up at the train station and return us back to Naples after our stay here. The men that helped with our luggage we really appreciate - I can't imagine doing that job all day with the steps in Positano. The cleaning team were great too and cleaned our room each time we left. The view from the room is jaw dropping. And having the pool to use at the luxurious sister hotel, a 10 minute walk away, was also amazing and a great plus. My only complaint is that the breakfast (eggs and meat) was cold. Overall I'll be definitely recommend Hotel Miramare to friends as this will be a lifelong memory. read more

What can I say?! We stayed here for two nights during our weeklong trip to Italy in April. The hotel is a boutique hotel with impeccable service. Every person we encountered was friendly, pleasant, engaging, and helpful. Our room was right off the lobby. We stayed in the Junior Suite Sea View. OMG! The views were spectacular and only matched by the staff's impeccable service. Our first night there, it was a beautiful full moon. We dined at La Scalinatella under the full moonlight, which was superb! The view from the restaurant looking out at the Tyrrhenian Sea was breathtaking. We chose a seven-course meal that was sublime. On day two, the staff provided excellent restaurant recommendations. We dined at Next2, and it was amazing. The location of the hotel was perfect. There were several stairs to climb, but we just took our time. I also recommend a small suitcase and a duffle. They have a porter who will carry your luggage down and up, but the stairs are unforgiving, with extremely heavy luggage. We took the ferry from Salerno to Positano - to access the hotel, it's about a 210 step climb from the ferry terminal located on the main beach (hotel is also accessible from the main road). Our room was on the top floor with a balcony overlooking the sea. Objective: All rooms have sea views; breakfast is included; consists of pastries, lots of fresh fruit, eggs, and hot drinks. Served in a breakfast room overlooking the sea and main beach as well. Assessment: Slightly on the pricier side, but completely worth it! Our stay was as close to perfect as possible. Our balcony had unbelievable postcard/picturesque views of Positano and the sea. It was so peaceful to just sit on the balcony. The front desk (Nicola, Carmela, and Rosita) are AMAZING - they will help you with anything (ferry tickets, itineraries, restaurant recommendations/reservations, etc...). The climb to the hotel from the ferry terminal can be taxing with luggage, but they do have a porter service that can assist if you ask in advance. The location really can't be beat as you are close to the center of town and can easily access the main road where there are many restaurants. read more

I initially balked at the price tag of the room when my girl booked it. I'm usually a budget traveler, and staying here three nights with such a hefty price tag didn't seem like budget traveling to me. Take it from someone that's cheap, it was well worth it! The hotel: situated in the perfect location with excellent views of the beautiful colored buildings of Positano. It is halfway between the street level and the beach level, which is what you want in the Amalfi Coast. The pictures of the balcony views do not do it justice. The staff: one of the best hosts I've ever had. Please, please ask for Rosita and let her educate you on the many things to do in Positano. By the end of our trip, she felt like family and we were sad to leave. We stayed in room 210, which has an extended balcony and a shower with floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking the beach. We stayed here during our wedding this past September and absolutely LOVED it. I have to be honest, I don't think it would be truly amazing without Rosita. She greeted my now husband and I with a hug and kiss as if we were her children. We immediately felt like we were being taken care of by family. She helped us coordinate our boats for our wedding, get our wedding clothes ready for our big day, sent us champagne and snacks and even ordered us room service. Rosita is truly one of a kind and makes Hotel Miramare special. The hotel is in a great location, a few steps to the beach and our room overlooked the water. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast is fresh and is served in a beautiful room overlooking the water. We absolutely loved our stay here and can't wait to go back ! read more

STAY HERE. Miramare was hard to find at first being my first time in Positano but it has been totally worth it. The ocean view rooms are all amazing and wonderful. The staff was the best right from the start. They greeted us basically like we were family and have made wonderful recommendations on places to eat and go to. The breakfast is also great! With a normal Italian breakfast but some bacon and eggs to mix in. All around beautiful hotel and will be back when we make a trip to Positano read more

* This would definitely have to be a 'special occasion' hotel because it is a splurge! My husband and I came here as the first stop on our 1 year wedding anniversary trip but $730 for 2 nights was a little ridiculous. * The room was amazing with 2 balconies and breathtaking views * There were TONS of ants in our bathtub, but other than that the room was clean * This hotel is located in the middle of a set of about 400 stairs so to leave the hotel or go to the hotel requires about 200 stairs. * We weren't told about the "free" boat as others have described and that would have been perfect for us as we were still recovering from jet lag when we arrived in Positano. * Our first morning we ordered breakfast in our room and all we got were croissants and bread, juice and coffee. The next day we had breakfast on the terrace and they had meats and cheese, cereals, fruit, pastries. I don't know why were weren't given the same choices when we ordered room service. * Rosita was very friendly and helpful * We wanted to leave on a ferry back to Naples on the day we left. We were told by the hotel that ferries left at around 9am, noon and 4pm but to check back with him in the morning about exact times. I came around 9:15 am to find out the times and he said that the ferry schedule changed and that the next one to leave was at 4pm. We were going all the way to Rome that day so that was way too late. It would've been nice if he informed us of this change. We had to rearrange our entire day because he didn't inform us of this and if he did, we would've taken the 9am ferry. * They had a computer that you could use for like 8 euro an hour. With the price of the hotel it would be nice if this was complimentary. * They did give us a bag with beach towels when we wanted to go swimming at the beach. * All in all I think it's a bit expensive for what we got and I'd probably try somewhere else if I were to go back to Positano. TRAVEL TIPS: * We hired a private car to take us from Naples Airport to Positano for 90 euro. This was a smart choice since we had just arrived from the States and we were exhausted. * On the way back we walked to the bus stop in town (about 20 minute walk) and took a bus to Sorrento. From there, we took a train to Naples. * Buy your bus tickets ahead of time in the tobacco shops * There are no trains that run South of Sorrento on the Amalfi Coast * We were told a taxi from Positano to Naples would be 110 euro read more

I recently stayed at this hotel, i came back to the hotel around midnight, we just got engaged. The night before the guy at the front desk got us ice without an issue and was very nice. I came to the front desk to ask for ice the next night to celebrate our engagement, and the guy was sleeping. He woke up and we asked for ice, but he told me the bar was closed. I didn't believe him so i went downstairs and I saw that the kitchen was open. I went back upstairs to tell the guy and he started yelling at me saying "why did you go downstairs." I told him i am a customer and he shouldn't be yelling and all i was asking for was ice. He called the owner and we spoke on the phone. My fiance told her we stayed at the hotel because of all of the good reviews and she told her "do not use the reviews as an excuse. We will give you the ice as a favor but you are calling us very late at night" she also went on to say "after everything we have done for you." They did nothing other than do their job except for when we had to fight for ice at midnight the night we got engaged which is a very special moment. The fact that they said "after all we did for you" was ridiculous as we paid good money to stay there. We did not ask anything of them out of the ordinary, we just wanted ice. My fiance was so angry that she told them to forget it and keep the ice. They did not deliver the ice and also did not deliver the breakfast the next morning before we left like they said they would before this incident occurred. The view was great but the customer service was very poor and rude. read more

We stayed at Hotel Miramare in Positano for three nights. It is a beautiful hotel with wonderful views from the rooms' terraces. The breakfast was good and it was served in a lovely room with great sea views. Be aware that the hotel is not located in the main part of the city, but in an area that is about 125 steps up (about 10 stories) to an area with a little of activity or about 250 steps down (about 20 stories) to the main part of Positano. There is nothing to see or do along the way. Having been there three previous times, I know that there are other hotels (unfortunately they were already booked) with equally good views that are much more accessible to what one would like to do in Positano. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed at Miramare for 4 nights when visiting Positano. It was an absolutely amazing experience. Rosita and the rest of the staff were amazing as well, and it was so obvious that they love their jobs, love their guests, and do whatever they can to make you feel right at home. The room was perfect, the breakfast every morning was really good (lots of fresh fruit, eggs, toast, coffee, yogurt, bacon..), and the location of the hotel was great too, not too far from the beach and not too far from the shops (some reviews complain about steps but they are inevitable if you are staying in Positano, being that everything is located on cliffs). We rented a car that we drove to the hotel from Naples airport, which was a great decision because we were able to park it in the hotel's parking lot and take it on day trips to Amalfi and Ravello. Rosita gave us excellent recommendations for dinner and day trips, and treated us like family! We even ran into her when we went to Amalfi for the day and she gave us advice about what to see and do in Amalfi then too. She was great, the hotel was great, and I 100% recommend anyone looking to visit the Amalfi Coast to stay in Positano at Miramare. read more
