Family run business. Food is off the charts. Margaritas are very good. Service is above and beyond. Don't miss this place!

Probably not, but if I happened to be in the area, I would definitely make my way there, even for take out. The exterior is a dated orange building sitting on the side of Lyndale Ave amongst unkept tall grass, a little dilapidated but don't let that turn you away. Once inside you're greeted by familiar faces of the family that keeps the operation going, the smell of freshly cook tortilla chips and more orange walls reminiscent of a Hacienda, decorated with traditional art and pottery. Once sat, complimentary chips and salsa are bought to the table. Pro-tip: ask for seconds. The salsa is made in house, a liquid salsa consistency married together with chunks of onions, cilantro and tomatoes creating this robust umami flavor of goodness! I have drank the salsa before, it's okay. On to the rest of the food, I highly recommend the Molcajete and Burrito de Asada. The Molcajete is for someone who can't decide on their protein (so why not, have it all?); it is a mix of chicken, beef, pork and shrimp comes out sizzling hot in a Molcajete served with rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream and tortilla. It's essentially a DIY burrito/taco/wrap- what could go wrong? Burrito de Asada is also served with rice, lettuce, salsa and sour cream; pro-trip: ask to "spice it up" for an extra kick or on the side if unsure about spicy levels. The Faribault location is the better location so I've heard from those in the area. Highly recommend if you're in the area. Photo cr. to parents- I'm always busy eating chips and salsa.

They were perfectly seasoned, the tortillas were grilled and came with just cilantro and onions on top. I asked for both red and green salsa. The red packed a wallop and the green was tart and fresh. And now they have a grocery store next door! I'll be back.

I recently made my first visit to this little place in the Faribo West Mall based on the…read morerecommendation of a friend. It's such an easy place to get to, just off an exit on I-35. The menu is small but they have all the items you come to expect in a Mexican place, but with possibly a greater variety of meat options. As others have said, it's a no frills place. It feels more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. The menu is posted on the wall by the counter. You order and pay up-front and go to your seats, where your food is delivered to you. No alcohol. No fountain pop. A few feet behind the counter is a cooler of bottled soft drinks. There appeared to be a number of fruit flavored drinks, but they were too far away for me to read. I did see Coke so I went with that. I ordered a burrito al pastor with beans and rice and my friend had a barbacoa quesadilla with the same sides. I can't really judge the taste of the beans and rice, as they were inside the burrito, but the flavor of the whole thing was delicious. If anything I wish there was a little more beans and a little less rice, but I scooped some out with my finger and all was good. The flavor of the marinated pork still came through really well. Not hot, but with a flavorful warmth. This was a nice fat burrito. My friend's rice and beans were served on the side as usual, and he said the barbacoa was fantastic. It was the thickest quesadilla I've ever seen. The prices were fine. The service was friendly and the food came quickly. There's not a lot happening at this mall, so parking should never be a problem. This is not a date night place, but if you're just looking for good flavors, this is worth checking out.

To my dismay, they've expanded their brand and added Coco's Market right next door to the restaurant. AND IT'S SO FRICKEN COOL INSIDE!! You can find almost anything in there and it's a great place to get authentic Mexican souvenirs such as hats, keychains, belts, aprons, and so much more. Apart from that they also sell grocery items like avocados, limes, rice , canned items, rice, tomatoes etc... and get this, you can even send money to different countries!! The true definition of a one-stop-shop! TALK ABOUT DECOR!! This place will uplift your spirit from the moment you enter through the double doors. I love how much attention they put into making the space feel and look stunning. One a cold wintery day like today, the little things like this matter most. Seating area is nice and the noise level was adequate with a touch of Mexican cumbia music! I wasn't really in the mood for meat and I love that their expansive menu can accommodate my peculiar eating patterns lol. I started off with a HOT bowl of Mexican Menudo, then a plate of Mexican rice, beans and tortillas on the side with cheese inside.. Y-U-M-M-Y!!! This was followed by a platter of picadas (that I shared with my partner), a cup of Mexican prepared corn (esquite) and washed it all down with a glass of horchata! Overall it was to die for! I've spent a good chunk of time in Cuernavaca, Mexico and the food here reminds me so much of the food there. Coco's roots trace back to Maltrata, Vera Cruz in Mexico and I love how they've blessed the community here with a taste of home. It's located in the heart of Northfield on a strip that can be considered their downtown, so there's lots of petite mom and pop shops that you can browse. Decent amount of parking in the front area, otherwise you can also swing in the back of the building and find more parking. Going to Coco's is now a routine whenever I'm in Northfield and one that I can get used to :) Fast service + family-oriented + hot and freshly made food = Coco's Place. Once again, I left a happy camper ;)
