Not only is the fish superbly white and fluffy, in a crisp, golden batter, and the chips fat and plentiful, but the service is efficient. Long live properly FAST food. They're not the crunchiest chips I've ever had, but certainly the tastiest and I don't think crunchy would have worked at all well with the dish overall, so I was pleased to have the ones that they did. We ended up coming here because of #SecretBrixton, and I'm glad because otherwise I would never have come to Brixton let alone Hot Chip. So a big thanks to the organisers for that, and for Hot Chip for being involved. Five stars for fish and chips? Really?…read more Well, the fish was perfectly cooked. No excess claggy batter weighing the fish down. Instead, it was a light coating that wasn't greasy! We ordered a large chips to share which was a gigantic portion of crispy chips. No soggy potatoes here. A side of curry sauce and a pickled egg topped off the meal. But the highlight of the meal was the super friendly service. Unexpected but totally appreciated. The restaurant is also immaculate and doesn't reek of oil and fish. Moreover, it has disturbed me greatly to see that many places that offer "chips" are selling french fries. Like what we have in America. These are NOT chips. This place not only does chips right, requiring at least an inch in diameter and almost have to get that much in sickness, made from entire potatoes, these are real.
