I need to stay away from this place for a while if I'm ever to lose any weight! Their chips are absolutely mouth-watering and I'm incredibly tempted to try every variety when every combination of seemingly disparate spices/sauces seems to combine into such a winner. Bonus points have to go to the team preparing such beautiful food, as they are the most incredibly lovely people you'll encounter, and well worth a chat whenever they're not busy serving the rest of their customers! (and often even during... mwah ha ha).

Let's get straight to it shall we? You need to go here. 1. The chips are excellent. Good portions, perfectly cooked, just crispy enough and seasoned well with a good amount of tasty toppings. 2. The team are just generally the best people. Really cheery, lovely and fun guys. You can tell they really love what they do. Love it!

Yesyesyesyesyes. AMAZINGLY delicious chips, smothered in an interesting but not too OTT variety of toppings to make a filling meal? All for around £7 or £8? Yesyesyesyesyes. Brian and I went to #SecretBritxon POP event but found the queues and crowds a bit overwhelming so we beat a hasty retreat and decided we would rather check out Hot Chip, which we found through the Secret Brixton map and we're so glad we did. Tucked away off the busy road is a little enclave of street-food-type places, complete with seating. Score. The ladies at Hot Chip couldn't have been nicer. We had a good chat before and after we ate and it's clear they care about their food and their customers and it really shows. I had the Turkish chips, a moreish mound of chips dusted in a delicious spice, topped with minced lamb, tzatziki, olives and herbs. The lovely fat chips weren't greasy but not dry either, and had a lot of flavour on their own (fried in rapeseed oil, apparently!), with a firm outside and a fluffy pillowy interior. The toppings complimented the potatoes well and were really generous - I hadn't had much for lunch and was starving and still couldn't finish it. I sampled some of Brian C's steak frites with peppercorn sauce and garlic mayo (brought over to us in a piping bag, clearly homemade and delicious!) and it was just as good. I just need to figure out how many times a month chips can be a meal without me being considered a crazy lady...

At the time, I was quite unimpressed. COLD SANDWICHES FOR LUNCH? *Yawn* But then after going there a few times, I have realized that they have hot foods too - like toasties, hot wraps, and most importantly SOUP! Not to mention sushi, salad, desserts, hot drinks, etc. What's kinda cool is that all the Prets serve the exact same fresh food everyday. You're not going to get different things from different Prets. If one location is serving cream of mushroom, potatoes and leek, and tomato basil soup, you can bet all of them will have the exact same thing. Every day the soup menu changes and all the sandwiches are made fresh daily. They also try new sandwiches too - the latest and the most awesome discovery is their Thai Prawn Baguette that tastes like a good thai green curry in a bun. So. Delicious. Their miso soup is good and cheap too. Walk out of the place for 6 pounds and you'd be more than full. The other day, I mentioned to my bf "You know what, Pret is growing on me" and he replied, "you know what, i feel the same way too!" Solid :)

The apples were kind of watery. I didn't complain but went to sit outside. I was in a car accident recently, so I propped my feet up on a chair across from me. Then, a manager came out to tell me that they don't allow shoes on chairs. So I was respectful and took my feet down. I could see if there were a lot of customers sitting outside, but I was the only one. Additionally, the tables and chairs outside were filthy. So it seemed odd to me that she was very concerned about cleanliness. I also was in the restroom which was filthy. I usually like my experience at Pret. This was definitely not what I've come to expect.

The best thing when you have a cold. What do you get when your not feeling well? What about tomato soup? Yes, tomato soup and a classic cheddar and tomato. My daughter and I both got tomato soup and cheese sandwiches. The soup just so delectably yummy with caramelized onions. The sandwich was so tasty. How do you eat your sandwich? I dip my sandwich in my soup. Oh so tasty and flavorful. There is something about Tomato soup and cheese sandwich that brings me back to my childhood, as it conjures up the memories of comfort and warmth. Not only did this meal fill me up but also made me feel better. It made being sick in London a lot better. Thanks Pret for making my daughter and I feel better.
