    Where the magic happens

Great take away option to experience authentic Portuguese grilled meats including the famous piri-piri chicken. Perfect if you're residing nearby or to take to the beach for a lovely picnic. The chicken has a nice pleasant kick (although I'm sure spice can be adjusted accordingly) and is very succulent and tender. The folks behind the counter are extremely friendly/helpful and the meats are grilled to order and taste like what I would imagine if I were attending a Portuguese backyard barbecue. Pro-tip: Credit cards accepted Place your order and check out the McDonalds across the street for some Portuguese twists on classic menu items and baked goods in their McCafe.

This place rocks! With a five stars out of five average on Yelp, based on just seven reviews, I was hesitantly optimistic, but I found that my hesitation was completely unfounded after eating only one meal at Albufeira Gourmet. Can you say Chicken Piri-Piri? Sure you can! Albufeira Gourmet does Chicken Piri-Piri and much, much more. We started with some bread (€1), butter (€0.60) and local cheese (€2) - €3.60 for what the restaurant across the street charges €10 for - then ordering the daily specials, one Chicken Piri-Piri (€6 - 1/2 marinated chicken) and one Maminha (€8 - 250g of thinly sliced marinated beef), both coming with fries, rice or salad - we chose fries. We also ordered a mixed salad (€1.50), a 1/2 "jar" (liter) of red wine, and a passion fruit soda. The chicken was as awesome as I had heard that Chicken Piri-Piri can be ... savory, spicy, juicy and succulent. I usually do not prefer my chicken on the bone, but it was so tender that the meat almost fell off. The seasoning was superb, not too spicy and with just enough kick that my heat-resistant wife did not complain and I, adding some extra Piri-Piri hot sauce, was pleasantly satiated. The Maminha was thinly sliced, delightfully marinated, and as tender as a whore's heart (I can say that on Yelp - TripAdvisor does not allow such euphemisms and that is why I am no longer a TripAdvisor "Top Contributor" - kiss my ass TripAdvisor!). We have had more than a few steaks in Portugal, most of which were much more expensive than this, and this was the most flavorful and tender to-date ... HOOAH! The fries were plentiful, crispy, and piping hot and the salad fresh, although I would have preferred the Tomato Salad, but alas they were out. The owner, Jorge, our server, André, Jorge's wife Sandra, and their daughter Leonora were as nice they could be, all speaking excellent English except for Leonora who was a little shy. We finished our delightful meal with Sandra's delicious, homemade Creme Caramel (€2.50), a rich, creamy dessert that was as good as it could be. We have had some great meals in our 3 weeks in Portugal, but Euro for Euro, this was the best meal we have had by far, having paid just €27 for dinner for two, including starter, entrees, and drinks. We returned a couple days later and bought 500g of the Maminha (€12) and a whole Chicken Piri-Piri (€10) along with two orders of fries (€1.50 each), one salad and one tomato salad (€1.50 each), a 1/2 liter of wine (€5), a Lipton Mango Iced Tea (€2), and two Creme Caramels (€2.50 each) for a total of just €40. We ate at one of their three indoor tables (they have more outside, but it was a tad chilly) and took enough home for dinner the next night. Did I tell you that THIS PLACE ROCKS? OOH-RAH! Excellent service and food. I had their maminha with salad and it was delicious. After more than two months in Italy, it was so good to eat some good meat and salad. The food was served fast and the server was very kind. The food was very affordable too. I'll be back to try their chicken

Little snack shop with amazing chicken!

Stick with their Piri Piri chicken and leave happy. Everything else isn't worth mentioning.

The spicy sauce is great, it's not "hot" sauce, it's just a spicy sauce. A cheap, quick and good meal.

Everything we ordered was delicious from the clams bulhao to the arroz marisco to the Algarve tart (best algarve tart we had on our trip). Even the homemade garlic bread was good. Seafood all tasted fresh, staff was pleasant, and the restaurant had a catchy playlist going too. Only downside was how long it took to deliver our main course after starter. We were seated at a table near the front door; perhaps sit at a table closer to the front for better attention.

We spent a month in the Algarve and ended up dining here at least 10 out of 30 nights. We kept trying to find another restaurant that could compare--and never did. The food is authentic Portuguese cuisine at its finest. The clams, made from the owner's grandmother's recipe, are hands-down the best I've ever had in my life. Honestly, it doesn't matter what you order--everything on the menu is exceptional. Be adventurous. You won't regret it. The restaurant is family-owned and family-run, which adds so much to the experience. Vitor runs the kitchen and delivers incredible food every single night. His wife Ines runs the front with grace and warmth. Luan and Joah were there every evening we visited, offering some of the best service we've ever experienced anywhere--professional, kind, and genuinely caring. The ambiance is casual, quiet, and cozy--it truly feels like home. Every guest is welcomed like family, and this incredible team goes above and beyond to make each night memorable. If you go (and you absolutely should), tell them the Fanellas from Florida sent you. Jardim Rústico is a gem, and dining there was one of the highlights of our trip.

Nuno was channelling not only his Grandmother's spirit but ALL Grandmother's ... I only wish I could still have the opportunity to bring my Grandma here. The decor is rustic, like grandmother's kitchen. Let me say, the food was all very fresh. We started with garlic bread and sautéed mushroom appetizers. They were both quickly devoured. There is an emphasis on fresh herbs in every dish. It children opted for chicken nuggets and fries (they could have had steak.... kids), which were probably the only things that were not freshly made. I have never ordered stew in a restaurant (that I can recall), but I was not disappointed. My wife ordered grilled tuna, served with an herb butter. The stew was delicious, simmered in brandy and herbs, with carrots, celery, and maybe leeks. The beef was tender. The tuna steak was delicious as well. We had house wine, so nothing spectacular. Our meal came in at 60€, out the door. For our American friends, that includes tip/service, two sodas, one bottle of water, three glasses of wine, for two adults and two children. Service is relaxed, meaning slow by American standards. You have to adjust your expectations of you are looking to just dine and dash. Our food orders came out in a reasonable amount of time and we did not feel rushed. Like most places in Portugal, we had multiple people waiting on us, in other words not one dedicated server. They were very friendly, attentive, and wanted to make sure we enjoyed everything. Just a couple tips. If you want outdoor seating, you must call for reservations. We did not and ate inside, which was fine. This was the best meal we have had in Portugal. This is comfort food at its best. We were made to feel very welcome. The prices were very reasonable. I hope to eat there again before we leave. Eat here, you won't be disappointed. Highly, highly recommended.
