This is a gorgeous state, man." I smiled. Preaching my personal gospel. Indeed, there's so much to discover around here, yet somehow the entire state remains somewhat undiscovered. And for most of us residents, that's exactly the way we want it to remain. Our own little secret. Short shrift is cool. But ultimately that's obviously not what we're going for around here, and this company, Food Tour New Mexico, is here to help expose the goods. This tour company focusses on the food (yeah, and drink) that make the state great. They've been operating in Santa Fe for years and recently they've expanded to Albuquerque. They're not taking you on a tour of a White Sands dune, but they're all about educating newbies on New Mexican cuisine, which is worthy of an afternoon of your time. Even locals can learn a little about their native eats; one of my favorite aspects of the tour was the cup of posole and the guided description of the composition of the soup, both Native and Mexican, that completes the recipe. Anticipate an exceptionally enjoyable visit in Old Town, with some huge surprises, and a tour that goes beyond food. Great company.

Nick accommodated our sizable group with ease. He graciously guided us through old town, from restaurant to restaurant. It was evident he had a great working relationship with each of the restaurants that welcomed us. We not only tasted yummy local fare at each location, we learned of its history, as well. Each locale had interesting stories; additionally, the architecture should be noted as the structures are specific to this area. Nick provided more local historical facts as we made our way walking through old town. Food Tours New Mexico is a unique way to see Albuquerque. It's great for foodies wanting to learn about local cooking or anyone curious about the area's history. This activity would be great for a fun date night. Or if you are a food lover or enjoy history, you should give this tour a try. I highly recommend.

My husband…read moreand I visit frequently from Denver, CO as a weekend getaway and I can't recall a single trip where this stop hasn't been on our list. The Museum is well situated in Old Town and an easy bop over from the shops. In fact, if you visit on a Sunday morning, the museum is free of charge and shares a parking lot with Old Town. You can have your parking validated by the museum and spend some time at both. The permanent exhibits at the museum are expertly organized and there's almost certainly something for everyone. You could easily spend the day learning about local New Mexico artists in many different formats, or enjoy the rotating exhibits. Even if a rotating exhibit doesn't sound particularly interesting, I highly encourage you to check it out. The curator at this museum does an absolutely fantastic job of keeping things engaging. There's a particularly profound permanent piece that I highly encourage one to find, which is a video accompanied by a teeter-totter. And don't miss the sculpture garden outside! The gift shop is worth a stop, too. Many of the museum gift shops that I've stopped in over the years are filled with, well, junk--items largely irrelevant to the visit. The Albuquerque Museum, though, showcases local artisans, local food, and so much more. I almost always leave with something from their Los Poblanos case and a new coffee table book about the southwest. Can't recommend this gem enough!

A solid museum! Great exhibits, not too big or too small…read more Parking: They have their own parking lot and are right next to old town if you want to stroll around after your visit. Exhibits: When we visited there was a German art exhibit which we visited but were more into the locally focused exhibits since we were visiting from out of town I really enjoyed the Albuquerque history section as it was unique to the area and covered past to present . There was also a very impressive NM artist exhibit which we enjoyed The have a sculpture garden outside as well Amenities: They have a great restroom, water fountains, lockers to store your belongings, and a cafe Pairing a visit to the museum with a stroll around old town is a great way to spend the day
