I attended a show for the first time here. I had heard of the theater growing up but had never attended anything. The show I saw was well done with some interesting staging ideas but good. I took my kiddo today to see The Best Christmas Pageant and it was really good. We sat in row O because they were the closest tickets available. We were able to see and hear almost everything and everyone. I do wish we could've sat a little closer because it can be difficult to hear at times towards the back. I recommend going to see a play here. They are around $25 per ticket which is totally worth seeing a play! I love how they incorporate children and adults. I was in Albuquerque for the holidays with my family and specifically to see "Miracle on 34th Street" at the Albuquerque Little Theatre. To be fair...it was because my dad played Kris Kringle in the show... But don't think I am biased just because my personal Santa was playing Santa in the play! The venue is a good size for a stand-alone, dedicated, community theater. They are also aided by a very generously sized (free) parking lot, especially located sort of near to the Old Town area. There isn't a particularly big foyer/front of house area...but you are here for a show, not necessarily to hang out in the box office area. I heard that they recently completed a bathroom remodel, and I can confirm that they ladies' bathroom is lovely, clean and bright. I will say the only negative the whole visit was the temperature. It was very cold in the theater. And I understand that some venues keep it cooler because stage lights and costumes make it rather warm for the performers. But it was a topic of conversation at intermission and after the show. It was notable, thus I note it. The show was wonderful. I was impressed by the costumes, and the sets were well done. It doesn't seem that they employ any artificial amplification for the actors...whether lavalier or stage-level, but at times that seemed...necessary. As this is the only show I have ever seen here...perhaps it is better with smaller/bigger casts...or different blocking and shows. But it was definitely difficult to hear in some parts. If you find yourself intrigued by anything on their season program, you should ABSOLUTELY should get yourself to a show. My impression is that they produce high quality entertainment and any of y'all who get to live in the general vicinity should go and enjoy it for me! read more

This theater is a hidden gem of Albuquerque. If you haven't been to a show, you are missing out. The theater is intimate and well restored. Shout out about the newly remodeled bathrooms which look great and made intermission so much more enjoyable. Upstairs gives intense Methodist church lunchroom vibes, but all the local art on the walls is worth checking out. You'll be surprised just how talented our local thespians are! Vocals need A LOT of work. 75% of everything coming off the stage was garbled screaming making enjoying the show impossible. Mary M and P Pilot very clear. Chorus could be sorted over have the time. Great community theater. Good job on DeathTrap. Performance was good except the lead actor wore a Covid MASK???!!!! Come on! Not good. Facial expression is 95% of acting and he is the lead!!! We were all disappointed. If we had known the actors were possibly masking we would never have gone!! His performance was hard to follow because of the mask. I don't mind asking audiences to mask but please people be honest and state before we buy tickets "actors may choose to perform with mask on"!!! If your a stage actor then it's your job to let us see your facial expressions and hear your voice. If you need to mask for protection from Covid then it's not time for you to act yet. Really not fair to audiences or your fellow actors. We could not hear nor see his expressions. It was such a disappointment. I know Covid stinks but actors need to be seen and heard! Sorry read more

I love this little theatre and always enjoy going to see my cousin perform. This time it was, Father of the Bride. The theater is small and every seat is good. We had great comfortable seats and the theater was not over crowded. It has been kept up very well and displays some great history. We can not wait for the next act! read more

This is a very cool little theater in Albuquerque's downtown area. It has been operating for more than 85 years and the insides feel like it. Not to say it is run down or out of date, but the ambience is old-timey. First walking in, they had the sweet ladies at the ticket booth just as you would expect. One ticket taker who loved to chat. The grand doors opened into a decent size theater that could seat several 100. The chairs were plush and comfortable and the stage was easily seen from all locations (I checked). The actual play will differ from month to month of course. We went to see Agatha Chrstie's "A Mousetrap". It was a murder mystery comedy and quite well down. All the actors were top notch and kept us interested the whole time. It was easy to hear them throughout the seating area. After the wonderful performance, they had a little open house where we were able to meet the actors. As it was opening night, they had a few appetizers and drinks after as well. It was a lovely expereience. Perfect for a date night, a night out with friends, or just enjoying the culture by yourself. You should check it out. read more

I am more than a little biased about the Little Theater. I was in ABQ for the holidays, and came to see Miracle on 34th, to see, in my opinion, the best Kris Kringle ever. He was played by my dad. You can see where this bias is coming from. The availability of free parking is always a plus for me and the parking lot outside is sizeable. If you are going to a show in the winter, be prepared as the lobby is not very big so you cannot easily wait inside, before the doors open for seating. You may want to wait in your car, or at dress appropriately if you have to stand outside for a few minutes. The theater area itself if very nice, albeit a little chilly (again in the winter at least). The production itself was wonderful. A talented cast, great staging, and wonderful sets. I know this year, going in to 2021, the theater world is looking very different, so support the ABQ Little Theater if you can and watch for whatever they are putting out there because it is sure to be a joy. read more

The hubby has a few coworkers who are in the current production of Les Miserables so we bought tickets for this past Sunday's matinee. At first I was a little put off by the $25 ticket price (which doesn't include processing) but I have to admit it was well worth the money. The theater is located in Old Town and has its own parking lot. We arrived very close to showtime and were pleasantly surprised to find parking still easy. The lot is bigger than it needs to be for the size of the venue. Walking inside, we stopped at will call for our tickets and received them without issue. I mention this because having been brought to the theater my entire life, I have seen far larger/more famous theaters with far less smooth a will call than this theater. When we bought the tickets the website stated that instead of letting us pick our seats, we would be assigned the "best available at the time of purchase." This gave me pause, but a quick yelp search told me that I would be able to see the stage no matter where we were seated. I was not disappointed. We were in the back left but because of the size and shape of the theater, we were able to see clearly the entire performance. Also, the acoustics are fantastic. During a major song, the actress's mic died, which would normally be devastating for the number, however in this case, she was clearly audible from clear across the room (she was standing front stage right and we were in the back left so it was really amazing that we could still understand every word she sang. The theater is well staffed with helpful, friendly people. During intermission there were snacks and drinks available. I did not purchase any, so I can not speak on their prices. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean. I was near the end of the line during intermission and was expecting a less than stellar bathroom experience but was once again pleasantly surprised by how clean it was. We will definitely be returning for future shows! read more

Fun, entertaining, and even uplifting! In town for the Balloon Fiesta, we asked a local at Boxing Bear if she had seen The Addams Family. She happened to be the music director of the show! She highly recommended it, but what else would you expect? I told her I wasn't a big fan of the original show, but love theater and was looking for something different to do. She told us the show is a fun musical with a great cast, and both are true. The cast is bigger and better than I imagined. No weak links! You'll love them all! Catchy songs, dancing, imaginative story line, perfect makeup and costumes. Gomez: very charismatic; Morticia: sexy woman; Fester: lovable freak; Wednesday: dark daddy's girl; Pugsley: great fat brat; Lurch: strong presence boldly stepping out; Grandma: wild and whimsical; Alice: surprising playful side; special guest: nice close. If you were, are, or will be a student in Mrs. Mowery's class, I bet you'll enjoy seeing a different side of your teacher. (And I bet she'd give you extra credit to write about it!) Such a cool little theater in town! I haven't been here until recently when my hunny and I decided to go to see A Christmas Story. I must say, I was extremely impressed! The actors were wonderful. Sets were on point. The inside of the theater was a bit out of date and could use some upgrades... but they are a non-profit organization and are funded primarily off donations. There are 10 of us who have season tickets and we always look forward to each performance. I thought this was one of our favorites. The actresses were quite good and hankies were needed before the curtains closed. Visited this theatre on the Labor Day weekend to see the classic - Pride and Prejudice. We booked the tickets over phone and it was a smooth process. I love this theater! I have been going to shows there for the past two years and the productions seem to be getting better and better(as far as the actors and set design). The variety of performances is great also, from comedy to musicals to the more dramatic plays. They are getting ready for a remodel which it is in great need. I think starting with the bathrooms which is a great move. Overall this theater is truly an Albuquerque gem and I plan to attend for many years to come! read more
