Run by power couple Evan & Whitney, Alchemy is home to a handpicked team of DJs, planners, photo booth gurus, and lighting legends. We’re not talking sleep-deprived college DJs with a playlist on shuffle—we’re talking seasoned professionals (with nearly 60 years of combined experience!) who love what they do and bring their A-game every time.
We don’t cut corners—our gear is top-tier, our training is ongoing, and our crew is fully licensed, insured, and verified. From certified wedding planners and corporate-ready DJs to high-energy school dance teams, cultural event specialists, and karaoke hosts who know how to bring the house down, we’ve got the talent, tools, and vibes to match any kind of celebration.
History
Established in 2014.
Before Alchemy was born, Evan was tearing up the Portland dance scene as a DJ in the mid-2000s—think packed clubs, bass drops, and late-night vibes. After a few years off to tour and jam with live bands, fate (and a persistent friend from the PDX club circuit) pulled him back behind the decks in 2014. One gig turned into a full-blown rediscovery of his DJ spark—and he ran with it. Together with his wife Whitney, Evan launched Alchemy, bringing together a crew of skilled DJs and longtime friends to turn every event into a party worth remembering.
What started as a one-person show has grown into a full-blown dream team of 22+ DJs, event coordinators, photo booth pros, lighting wizards, and all-around event rockstars. At Alchemy, we don’t just throw parties—we build them from the ground up with a trusted network of staff, vendors, and venue partners we’ve personally vetted (and partied at). Our golden rule? If it’s not good enough for our celebration, it’s not making the cut for yours.
Meet the Business Owner: Evan R.
When I was approached about starting Alchemy, I wanted to take the same mentality that I had applied to my other businesses (being the best, not cutting corners, never sacrificing quality), and apply it to an industry where entertainers all to often focus on personally having fun at the detriment of anything else. I set out to create a business where I could bring together amazing entertainers who shared my passion for music and fun, and channel it through a business mentality, to ensure that we are not only putting on a great show, but we are conscientious of our obligations, of the needs of our clients and guests, and of our responsibilities as KJ's, DJ's, and hosts. Combining this mentality with premium equipment, innovation, and a superior product, we can ensure that Alchemy is always the best option. Whether we are at a back yard barbecue, or a million dollar outdoor festival, we will ALWAYS put our best foot forward, and never cut corners!
