I have had two sessions at Alcover Massage. Laura was my therapist both times. She asked what type massage I wanted and I requested deep tissue to the neck, shoulders and upper body only. I have had many massages during my life, so I think I know good work. I was most pleased with her work. She did exactly what was needed to loosen my neck and shoulder muscles. Found a great deal on Groupon for a 60min massage. When scheduling the massage (I called in to do this), I asked for a female massage therapist. I was told there was availability the next day at 4:30 or 4;45, I chose 4:45. The lady on the phone told me she scheduled me with Laura. However, on Groupon it says "any therapist other than Laura". I reiterated it was ga Groupon voucher, she then redeemed the code and that was that. I show up 4 mins late for my appt due to traffic. Laura was the one who "checked" me in. She mentioned Jason would be there soon, this confused me as I thought I had an appt with her. Come to find out she never put me on the books, then said my appt was with Jason, who confirmed I was not on his schedule, and she had already redeemed my Groupon code. Very frustrated with this whole experience. Update: Gave the owner a call after her response. To clarify I did "speak up" as I mentioned I had requested a female. She disregarded and stated "Jason is wonderful, he blew me away with his level of talent." I was willing to give this a chance, but what if I had trauma in my past and having a male therapist triggered this? You CANNOT disregard a request made because you don't know why the individual may be specifically making the request. She did NOT communicate the change prior to the appt. I do not appreciate defensive tactics because I posted a negative review. She stated she has to defend her business. I get that, but yikes. She offered me a rescheduled appt and free upgrade, but all the while trying to find a way to pin this as my fault as she pointed out the time verification text that I just realized I received when on the phone with her (when booking she did not say there would be confirmatory email or text) said am and not pm. Again, not MY fault. I appreciate the offer for free upgrade however, I am even more put off by the defensive, disrespectful behavior as I have never experienced it before by an owner of a company. She asked me to change my review and then informed me she would be following up with "facts". I will not change my review because I am absolutely offended by the way in which this was handled. read more

Kiara was awesome!! She was able to work out a few knots I have from old injuries. She asked me a few brief questions about the pressure I would like used, and my injuries. She recommended that we spend the majority of the time working on the injury areas, which I needed immensely! The shop is very cute and relaxing inside. The owner is also very nice and welcoming. Such a great establishment! I called to schedule a massage and they got me in same day! The massage therapist was great, the spa was welcoming and the front desk staff was very nice. They were not pushy with joining any membership, which is why I don't like some the franchise spas around town. I highly recommend them and will definitely be back! read more

Oh my gosh! I don't write reviews often but I have to give Ken the biggest shout out! He is absolutely amazing. I just got the best massage I've ever gotten in my life. Not many people have "the touch" if that makes sense. He worked out all of my Kinks and ones I didn't even realize I had! He showed me stretches , took his time and was very explanatory. Laura is Amazing and vert attentive on the area's you need worked on. I broke my left clavicle almost SIX years ago, and since then have taken anywhere from 8-12 ibuprofens a day due to the pain from it healing incorrectly. I asked Laura to work on my neck, upper back, shoulders, and mid-lower back areas to help with headaches and pain. To my surprise, her deep tissue massage provided me with no pain at all for all these areas and especially my clavicle now for over 8 days now. Just absolutely amazing results, and completely unexpected! Laura goes way above and beyond with her customer care, and has become more than just a massage therapist for me and my husband. My husband and I went for a couples massage. I do not recommend a prenatal massage because they can't do any pressure (unknown to me when booking) and it costs $55 more. So you pay $55 more for a massage that you didn't want & you have to lay on your side with a body pillow between your legs. I couldn't find any evidence based research to back up their claim that pregnant women are unable to receive deep tissue except for on the legs due to an increase risk in blood clots. I left feeling disappointed in my massage, feeling ripped off, and more stressed than I was going into the massage. I clarified when I booked the massage that I was pregnant, wanted deep tissue & that I do not enjoy Swedish style massages. The therapist even called me on the phone to rebook my time to later (for her convenience) and didn't specify that she can't do deep tissue. I would have cancelled my booking if I had known I can't have that. I should have looked at the prenatal price difference when making a reservation but I assumed a couples massage would cost the same ($200 total for 90 minutes) so it was my fault that I did not realize the $55 cost difference. My husbands massage was great though so he recommends their deep tissue if you're able to get it. 5 stars for non-prenatal massage. 1 star for prenatal massage. Therefore an average of 3 stars for my review. read more

I have been going to Laura for about a year now. I'm very experienced with massage therapy having traveled the world and had massages where ever I go. Laura is one of the two or three very best masseuses I've ever had. She listens very carefully to your concerns and adjusts her treatments to your specific needs. Her touch ranges from very very deep to quite light depending on your feedback. The spa is spotlessly clean with lovely soft music. There is a really cute gift shop up front in case you need a little retail therapy. Pure beeswax lip balm is my favorite. read more
