Although I did not return to get a new massage from this business, I am posting another review based upon the fact that the business owner, Nicole D., defamed me. I don't know if she lied or if her therapist lied to her, but the defamation has happened and must be addressed. My name is Ross Jernigan. I live and do business in the Palmetto area and my reputation is my coin. This business owner is attempting to besmirch my reputation and that is repugnant. I do not like to do reviews. I only post extremely good ones or extremely bad ones. The fact is that I came to this business for a deep tissue massage, starting with the psoas. I don't usually use this business but I go there when my regular therapist is unavailable. I have been doing so for close to a decade and have had well over a dozen massages there. Some were good and some not so good but this was the only terrible one. The therapist didn't even know where the psoas was and her version of deep tissue was a gentle rub down. It felt okay but it didn't break down the muscle tension and so it was useless to me. I did not choose to post a review. I chose to contact the business owner. Rather than take responsibility for properly training her employee she decided to attack the customer. She did this without conducting a proper investigation. She had not looked into the many other massages that I had received there, nor did she speak with me openly, before making up her mind. She didn't contact me at all. I tried, unsuccessfully to contact her, via her website, twice. When I called the business and asked to speak with her, she called me back primed to blame the customer. I was shocked at this behavior! This was not businesslike. This was not professional. So, I posted a negative review because of the close mindedness of this business owner and the lack of an adequate resolution. I did not like the allegations that she was hinting at but wouldn't come out and say. Instead, when I asked her if there were no therapists at her business who were competent to give a deep tissue massage and work on the psoas, she told me that none of her therapists could perform the type of massage that I wanted. Since I had already expressly said what kind of massage I wanted, it sounded like all of her therapists were incompetent. She made no referrals but suggested that I visit a chiropractor or physical therapist, which was ridiculous. Whom to believe? I can prove what I say. Nicole said that, when I came into her business, I said that I was, "Flirty". If I was a massage therapist and an old man came in for a massage, said that he was, "Flirty", and went into the room and took his clothes off, I would not go into that room, and I'm a man. I don't know of any female massage therapists that would go into a room under those circumstances but this one did. I don't usually remember something as trivial as a simple greeting, but I can tell you what I often do say when people ask me how I am. I say that I am, "Lovely", describing my state of being, not my physical appearance. I also often follow this, when the other person says that they're good with, "Oh, you're lovely, too.", referring to that person's state of being. I've been saying that for years and most people seem to appreciate it. I've certainly never encountered anyone who had a problem with it. Nicole also said that grabbing her therapist's hand to place it on my abdomen was not appropriate. I would agree, which is why that didn't happen. I said, "May I guide your hand?", because she was squeezing my hip bone repeatedly, seeming not to know where the psoas was. She said, "Yes." Only then did I gently take her hand, with her willing cooperation, and place it on my abdomen, over.... My psoas, which she couldn't seem to find! Even after I showed her, she went back to squeezing my hip. So I wasn't, "Flirty", and I didn't grab her therapist's hand. I take defamation seriously and this was a pretty serious violation of my reputation. Is it actionable? I don't know but it's darned close. My recommendation is to not visit this business with incompetent therapists. If you do, and don't like the massage, don't complain about it. The business owner may cast aspersions on your reputation and, if you go so far as to post a review, she may come right out and defame you, as she did me! read more

I've been here a couple times and it was nice. I had the misfortune of making an appointment around 2:00 in the afternoon after the beach. By that night I realized I was sun burnt and wouldn't be able to have my massage the next day. I left a message before they were open. It was literally the last 3 hours of the business day and they chose to charge me an extra $25 for cancellation. They charged my account without my authorization and never bothered to call me. So they will no longer be getting my business over $25. I call that bad business bad management bad customer service. read more

I had such an amazing facial with Sarah yesterday! She is great! There was a cancelation before my appointment so they called and took me early. Sarah went over my allergies and made sure that everything she would be using wasn't an issue. She also went over my skin concerns. She was so engaging a listened to me and made me feel very comfortable. The house is so warm and relaxing, so much better than that doctor feel you get at other spas. Everything and everyone was warm and inviting. I have also taken a yoga class here which was great. Looking forward to the winter months for outside yoga! I've been here about 3 times now, and I've been very pleased. The first impression is the receptionist (I'm sorry - I forget her name), and she is very calm & relaxed, no matter how frenzied you are when you arrive. She does an excellent job of setting the stage for your therapy. The waiting area is set up as a peaceful, relaxing place, and thoughtfully situated off to the side, not in a traffic pattern. I've only seen Nicole as a therapist, so I can only comment on her, but I am under the impression that the professionalism carries throughout all the staff. She asks your preference of both music and scent to customize your experience. That's a nice touch. She took time to talk to me about my needs & expectations, and obviously listened, because she concentrated on my problem shoulder. The treatment was wonderful! I was so impressed, that I bought a membership for a year that gives me assorted coupons & discounts. Prices are reasonable. I wish I could go every week. read more

I went for my first facial about a week ago today, and my face still feels fabulous! I made my appointment with Abbey, one of their amazing estheticians. She gave me the best, relaxing facial I have ever had! The products were not harsh on my face and I have always struggled with milia. She extracted my milia without leaving scars or swelling on my face! She was so gentle! Most people extract and leave my face very puffy! Abbey did not! She massaged my face, my shoulders, neck and arms... This was the best facial I have ver had! I will definitely be booking my monthly appointments with her from now on! I travel from Ruskin about 25 minutes away, but it is worth the drive and the price! But, most of all the sustainer service will keep me coming back! I LOVE North River Body Therapies!! Everyone there from the manager Sandy to the therapist are dear people, and especially the owner, Nicole! I enjoyed the therapeutic massage given by Clay. Had that on two occasions. He cleared up a sore muscle (in my jaw of all places) caused by having dental work done, where my mouth was forced opened for an extended amount of time while they did the work. It was very painful and Clay got me all fixed up. Soon I want to try the Yoga classes there. They even have a beautifully lit back yard for night time yoga.
