All of which is to be expected in a handyman. But here's where he earned five stars and then some. We had a plumber over at the same time to replace a toilet. Would have cost us upwards of $500 all in, and we were only replacing it on the plumber's recommendation. Fortunately Russ was there, and while he was a professional and didn't step on the other guys toes, I noticed he seemed like he wanted to say something. So after talking to him, I learned that a toilet replacement is not at all difficult, and nor is a rebuild, and he would be happy to do either for just his hourly rate. So we replaced the toilet for less than half the price the plumber wanted. Honest, hard-working, and dependable, and above all with our interests in mind.

So I had used Matt before for some dry, wall, roof repair, & electrical. Always a good experience, always done timely, professionally,& at a good price. Was trying some DIY upgrades to my kitchen lighting, but when I lost balance in my attic and subsequently put a couple of huge cracks in my ceiling, what do I do? I called up Alderations and it so happened he had a spare hour to swing by and help me fix it up! We had a leak that was driving us batty, and the two previous guys we hired to fix it could not…read morefigure out where it was coming from. I called Collin based on his positive Yelp reviews, and he not only found the source of the problem pretty quickly -- we had a rotted doorsill next to our deck -- but devised an effective solution. The first thing that impressed me about Collin was his willingness to come to our house and spend an hour without charging getting the lay of the land and forming a hypothesis for what the problem might be. Once he diagnosed it, he had the skills and tools to address it. We have not had another drop of water in that area since, and it rained twice after he made the repair. While at our place, Collin also fixed a patio gate that was sticking and a garage door that seemed to have developed a mind of its own, closing only when it felt like it. It was a great relief to get that taken care of. Collin charges $65 an hour, which is not cheap but is probably about the going rate in San Francisco. He's pretty busy and might not get back to you right away. That was the case with us, but I'm glad I had the patience to wait until he was available, because he did a fantastic job for us. I would call him back again any day.
