In visiting three Sundays, attending a bible study as well as a third event, I believe The River of Life Church to be true to their words. This is a place that is as inviting for the 99 as it is for the 1. This is a place where the hellos and greetings are genuine and not just the "get them at the door" hello and then go cold. This is also the first church I experienced in Abilene where I was invited to connect immediately with other members as well as having a great conversation with Pastor David Skinner... who, texted himself. I was not shoved in to some AI database and did not feel like a number instead of being seen as a person. The services feel as engaging to someone new to faith as they are for some one who has that cup runneth over faith. While, I have tried a number of churches in Abilene and of course, not all of them; I have found The River of Life Church to be true to the word, true to the Gospel and an authentic, engaging and connecting church unlike anything else Ive experienced in the area.

When I first started coming I was immediately welcomed with open arms and felt at home. Through these last 10 years that hasn't changed. No matter who you are or where you come from you are welcomed with open arms. I recently left for a few months to just explore and get a feel for other churches. And as great as they all were nothing came close to comparing to The River! So I found myself coming back home. The children's, youth, and adult ministries are all great and I would encourage anyone to get plugged in and become a part of one or all of these ministries. Amazing people, worship, and community, what more could you ask for!

My youngest son has his hair short, and the instructor always inspects the job when the barber is done and may need to touch up a bit, but he always looks good when we leave. The students always earn their tip my son wants to leave, and I encourage because they do a great job. My oldest son does have longer hair, and an older lady did have to cut his hair the time I took him. But the students watched her to see how to cut long hair. Even though I take him to the same place I get my hair cut I will not complain about the one time I took him there. You can not beat the price and the students that has cut my sons hair have all been really nice (if a bit quite but my son is as well). They take their time and do a great job.

If you're thinking about stepping foot into NeeCee's Barber College in Abilene, Texas--think again…read more Let's be real: this place doesn't just miss the mark--it burns the whole target down. Mrs. NeeCee, the owner, runs the place like a tyrant in a faded throne room. Customers often walk in for a cut and leave with nothing but a bad taste in their mouth and a boot to the curb. Kicked out mid-service? It's not a rare story here--it's the routine. Students? Charged for bottles of water. Not a metaphor. Not a joke. Literal water, in a classroom where they're already paying tuition. And as for the environment? Toxic. Degrading. Uninspiring. Students are spoken to like they're beneath the floorboards. The morale? Lower than the price of clippers at a pawn shop. What cuts deeper than clippers, though, is the hypocrisy. A façade of faith hides a heart of hostility. Christian in name, but compassion is nowhere in sight. That Bible on the desk? Might as well be a prop. This isn't a school. It's a cautionary tale. A place where passion for barbering goes to die, buried under ego, disrespect, and greed. Support your future, not this farce. There are real barber colleges that teach with heart, soul, and dignity. This isn't one of them. Boycott NeeCee's. Your craft deserves better. So do you.

However when you checking the kids temp right after playing out side in 100*F temperatures the child in question will be warm. And sending then send the kid home and there siblings for 3 days and expect the parents to pay full price is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Then we have the lack of care to the kids that I have seen. One my two kids always come home dehydrated, the two kids I have also are learning at at horrible rate. There cousins are the same age give or take a month or two. And are able to speak better, already know there alphabet, and understand much more about the world. However this day care hasn't don't much in this department. My two kids don't even speak vary well even with my daily practice and work with them. They don't know there alphabet and have a hard time with things in general. Basically I would never recommend this place to anyone's kids.

The bathrooms routinely had dried poop on the tank and on multiple occasions I gagged walking in the front door from the smell of urine. The level of laziness in not properly cleaning or sanitizing carried over into the way my child was treated. I saw teachers texting almost daily and for weeks during drop off there was no acknowledgement or attempt to help my child adjust or become comfortable at the center. The center leadership is inconsistent in their communication with parents and very clearly does not value child development (only the avoidance of anything that requires the center and teachers to do their job). As a direct result of this center, I will never recommend kindercare or select a kindercare location for the care of child. If kindercare corporate allows any of their locations to be managed this way - I do not want any part of it.
