So this is actually about the GAS STATION HERE instead of the actual grocery store but i am just…read moregoing to write it here. -------------------------------------- This morning, I went to the gas station to fill up before I went to Work. however, my gas hatch wasn't opening and I was getting really frustrated, so I went inside to ask for help. I explained my problem very politley to the woman and she just gave me a blank stare like and said "well what do YOU suggest i do?" (WHATTT??) then She gave me a screwdriver and told me to try that. she said it could break the hatch and I was genuinely terrified. I didn't want to break my Car!! after a while with the Screwdriver, nothing was working so I went back in to tell her and she just gave me a blank stare and i was seriously holding back tears. I had to leave and she wasn't helping! she told me to try AGAIN so I went back OUT to try again and finally got it open. not once did this woman go out to help me. when I told her I got it Open, she just shrugged and didn't seem too Happy. I'm not sure if she was just having a bad morning or what but she was very mean and un-helpful. It's not that hard to just help a customer, it is your JOB, but this woman clearly didn't want to. I really hope managment sees this because from now on, I will be getting my gas elsewhere, not here. Thank you.

Nate and I stopped in after breakfast at Real Food Cafe recently and picked up some groceries and a hanging basket for my mom. The layout of the store is kind of strange and crowded, so it was difficult to maneuver the large cart at times. It took me a bit to find some items since this isn't my regular grocery store, but I was able to find 99% of the stuff on my list. I didn't see many employees around to ask for help finding things. The garden center was a similar situation with only one person who looked to be working there. I wasn't sure which hanging baskets were for sun vs. shade, but some were labeled. They had tons of flowers, vegetables, and other plants available for sale. I can't really comment on pricing since I'm not the plant person in my household, but I'd rather support a local business like Ken's over Lowe's or some other big box store.

Trusty Google led me to this place and I pleasantly discovered that Division Ave is kind of like a mini Asian mecca: Asian grocery after Asian grocery within a few miles. Quite surprising that all this exists out here, at least to me, a naive Pacific coaster, fairly unfamiliar with the midwest. They had a good selection of everything Asian, spices, sauces, canned goods, Durian fruit, Pocky, other desserts, and even some stuff that I would never ever think of putting in my mouth. Silkworms and pig guts and all that. A dedicated freezer section for whatever meat your tongue desires. Andrew Zimmern would be proud! It was about as clean as Asian grocery stores can get, very friendly staff and cheap prices considering how many miles these goods had to cover to make it to Grand Rapids.

You can find all the spices you need to make your grandmas famous dishes! So many imported goods. You can also find many different cuts of meats, hot foods and cold prepared food items for easy dinner options. Overall the store was clean and very organized. Everything was nicely displayed and the aisles were spacious. Staff was kind and friendly at checkout. Parking is easy given they do have a larger parking space compared to their previous location.

But they still have all the other essentials you need from the other Asian countries. The first thing you'll notice is that this place is super clean and the products are fresher and more presentable. It also doesn't smell like fish bc there is no butcher. One item that they have that is unique that is difficult to find but health experts say is a super vegetable is Moringa (in Filipino called Malungay). Also they have a lot of Filipino baked goods that come from Chicago. So if you like following trendy food on social media this is the place to come to for UBE. Like real ube. One thing I hate is that other cultures use purple potato and call it ube and cash in on our culture. Come here for the real thing!!!

Upon walking up to the store, I got a glimpse of the Christmas parols (lit stars), and got excited that it was a Filipino owned place, because I knew they'd have specific items I was looking for! They were well stocked and had a great selection of frozen seafood and meats, dry goods, and familiar snacks. Looks like a new store and very clean and well organized.
