YET ANOTHER ALDI! I love that no matter where I am, I am likely to find an Aldi where I can easily run in and get exactly what I need. They are a very manageable size so that you don't feel overwhelmed as you might in a Walmart and with their predictable layout, shopping is quick and easy. Like any store, you really have to know what you can and cannot purchase here. If you are a chip person, they have a great selection of chips that are very affordable. Most importantly, they are not as salty as the major brands. For example, my favorite chip is the blue corn chip which has only 70 mg of sodium. They also have low sodium potato chips available as well. I love their nut bars which are actually nut bars with no added sugar. They are a delicious snack and virtually guilt-free. I really appreciate Aldi offering healthier alternatives and more organic choices. They are constantly introducing new items and that is always exciting. I have enjoyed purchasing their Greek yogurt which is very low in sugar, but has a nice richness. Obviously when it comes to the packaged items, simple is better: pasta, beans, brown rice, light mayo, mustard etc. The fresher the better and you also get to control the sodium! You can purchase fresh meat, (chicken, beef, pork) here and they do offer organic options. I highly recommend the wings and ribs which are my family's favorite. The center cut chops are very nice as well especially if you grill them. However, I do wish they would have ground breast meat available because this is what I use to make my turkey burgers. When it comes to proteins, they do have frozen options including seafood available as well. I have tried their bean and veggie burgers and while they have a good flavor, they are way too high in sodium for my taste. Of course, you can't beat the price for their staples such as eggs, milk, reduced fat cheese and butter and I really appreciate them offering the 1% milk because it doesn't seem to be very popular but is our personal favorite. At one point, I was once a fan of their frozen fruit for smoothies but realized that I get a better quality product if I just freeze my own very ripe fruit. It is much sweeter this way. They tend to offer promotional items from time to time so you really have to be watchful and check every aisle. I remember when they offered a very high quality almond flour but did not continue it for some reason. It is great for gluten-free/paleo diets and what I prefer to use i in my turkey burgers, potato/zucchini pancakes and meatloaf instead of bread or flour. Hopefully, they will bring it back! I love their thin crust whole grain frozen pizzas that feature a white Alfredo sauce, chicken breast and spinach. This is one of those items that they do not carry on a consistent basis so you really have to be watchful and stock up when you get a chance. The produce section is always my favorite because I love their sweet oranges, mixed peppers, tomatoes, avocados, cauliflower, broccoli heads and spinach, (kept in the fridge). The quality is great and the prices simply cannot be beat! Sometimes, you have to exercise a bit of patience at the checkout because of longer lines but their cashiers are fast and efficient and always warm and friendly. Aldi is a German Super Market that is very inexpensive with high quality products. They keep their prices low as they keep staff to a minimum, you bring your own bags and you need to put a quarter in the carts as a deposit. I find great German chocolate-my favorite-and a good selection of groceries and snacks at excellent prices. Nina, the store manager/shift manager is terrific. Check out Aldi's for a different selection of products and great prices compared to Sam's & WalMart. read more

The revamp isn't any better. Sadly the Oakwood store is currently under remodel now so we are forced to come to the Gainesville aldi. They reorganized this one recently and the layout is confusing at best. It might not be as bad if it weren't so crowded. I asked the cashier when a reasonable time to come to this location is (we have tried several different days and times with the same result of chaos (and he said 9am when they open us the only time it's not utter madness). Will try that next week and see if he was right. read more

Kind of reminded me of a Grocery Outlet like we have in California. After getting home noticed a lot of the food I bought expired fairly quickly. My trainer recommended this place for healthy food, honestly would rather go to Publix. It's cheaper and more of selection. I found 1 packet of ground turkey. Limited selection of chicken and porkchops, No beef. A lot of frozen and packaged foods. Lots of canned foods. They don't have bags, which is fine bc I'm used to bringing my own. Probably won't go back. read more

Brand new location for this German based deep discount grocery store chain. Brightly lit, clean store with wide aisles. Great prices especially if you're OK with their in-house brands-- which tastes just like the brand names. To keep prices down, they don't have employees bag your groceries and you should bring your own shopping bags or be prepared to pay a nominal amount to buy from them (old fashioned brown paper bags cost 9 cents each). Once they scan your items they put them back in your cart unbagged, you then move your cart to the wooden bench area and do your own bagging. Speaking of shopping carts...bring a quarter to rent a buggy from their automated cart dispensing system. Kind of genius, if you ask me. read more

Prices very reasonable but the worse customer service I've ever seen. Not just bad customer service for me, but, the people in front of me as well. I visited this location a few times thinking the cashiers were having a bad day yet every time the cashiers were rude and even more concerning their attitude was indifferent. Prices were not good enough for me to be treated so rudely. Probably won't go back. read more

Great deals on groceries; yes, there are sometimes a long line but it goes really fast! Since they aren't bagging your groceries, the line moves quick! I always have my cloth bags with me so I can bag it as I want to. Terrific savings for the majority of things I shop for every week; totally worth the quarter to rent the cart. read more

I went there this morning with my wife. Now, I was aware beforehand that I have to rent a shopping cart from them. I'm cool with that. However when I got to the store, I realized I didn't have a quarter, but 2 dimes and a nickel. I walked in the store to find someone to exchange them for a quarter. Only one person was easily identifiable as an employee - the cashier. And that cashier had 5 people with fully loaded grocery carts waiting to check out. I immediately turned around, walked back to the car, and drive across the street to Public. There, I didn't have to rent a cart, there were multiple lines open, and employees were easily identifiable if I needed help. Sure, I might have saved a couple of dollars at Aldi, but if it causes frustration, it's not worth it. So, 2 dimes and a nickel resulted in shifting $98.21 in sales to another business. read more
