I've been killing it with saving money on the weekly shopping trips by hitting up ALDI as my first stop. Everything here is good quality and the prices on nearly everything are definitely lower than the "top tier" supermarkets like Publix and Harris-Teeter. Of course, there are some tradeoffs. There isn't much variety in the options. They don't have everything. The shopping bags aren't free. And they don't have nearly as many helpers on the store floor. You also need to bring a quarter to borrow a shopping cart that you get back when you return it. Steaks, chicken breasts, produce, frozen and fresh fish, beer, wine, all of it is excellent quality and fabulous prices. I'm a big ALDI fan and this store is as good as any other I've patronized. ALDI staff at this location in Statesville have done an amazing job during the COVID19 pandemic! When COVID19 numbers were high, there was an assigned staff member outside constantly cleaning the shopping carts and ALDI temporarily suspended the 25 cent cart fee! This made shopping so much easier and created less of a traffic jam getting inside. BRAVO! A great way to show that you put customer service and safety FIRST! While supplies of paper & cleaning products may have had purchase limits and at times supplies were completely depleted, staff made a smart move when those items came back in stock, they would roll an entire pallet of toilet paper, etc., out and place it right in the the front of the store near the checkout lanes so customers could easily access them. Again, another show of extraordinary customer service! Thank you! Food supplies rarely ran low or were depleted at this location throughout the initial pandemic rush. There were very few times that I had to supplement my grocery needs and go elsewhere. I do the bulk of my grocery shopping here at ALDI because I LOVE to save money! ALDI has great selections of wine, snacks, produce, dairy, canned goods and fresh meats! You CANNOT feed your family for less anywhere else! ALDI staff have been real troopers throughout the pandemic! They've worked hard keeping shelves stocked and the store really clean! They've had great attitudes and provided excellent customer service throughout this trying time! For these selfless acts alone, I will continue to use ALDI for my bulk grocery needs! I'm a big fan of Aldi's and this one did not disappoint. Large and clean, with plenty of stock. The workers were pleasant. At checkout, as soon as one line had more than two carts, another was opened. The produce was superb. Very clean and abundant, better than most other grocers. I will return! read more

The store in Statesville is clean, but I have to say, I have gone countless times and find the staff there to be very, very unfriendly. Especially the floor/stocking staff. They won't even look at you or nod to say hello, and basically run you over without even an "excuse me" with their stock. Last time I was there (the week before Easter) two women that worked there shut down the Easter treat isle on both ends to stack drinks. They were so slow and just chatting with eachother. I circled the entire store waiting for them to finish three times, they had a bottom of a cart with sports drinks they were stacking on the lower shelf. No overhead danger of falling or hurting customers. Myself and many others needed to get Easter items down that aisle and many asked to step in and they very abruptly said "No. not now". Blonde woman about 40 yrs old was the one saying NO. A lady in front of me asked to go down that aisle to get an item she was swapping out at the register and they wouldn't let her, told her to come back. I was packing my grocery after paying and that same lady was packing hers at the same time and struck up a conversation with me. She was a very nice lady, kind of meek and timid. We got to talking and she said "I just don't understand the employees in this store. Every time I come here they make me want to go to a different store because they are so unfriendly, like they hate their jobs and the customers bother them." I was shocked, because I was thinking maybe it was just me feeling this way. I told her I was behind her when she nicely asked to go quick down the closed aisle(to do her swap) and they abruptly told her "no, it's closed". I saw and heard them with my own eyes and ears. They didn't say anything like "Sorry, or we'll be done in a minute, or can we get something for you and hand it to you?" The lady never did get in that aisle to swap out the pet product she needed to swap and was taking it back to her car and was then going to have to make another trip to do it. She showed me the pet bed and was upset. This was very inconvenient for the customer. Around January when I was there there was a woman stacking in some meat and I asked her a question about when they might get their tenderloin roasts back. Again...acted like I was a bother to her and said "That is done.Won't have them anymore." and walked away, just miserable. So I went to the other Aldi in Hickory (nice manager there, a guy, very friendly) about a month later and there were the beef tenderloins that the mean lady in Statesville told me were done for the season. When I was cashing out the manager in the Hickory store saw the line grow to 3 people and immediately stopped what he was doing to jump on a register and smiled and made small talk. It's a tough world out there these days and money isn't coming easy to anyone, but I have to say that your Statesville store must need a new manager, because this miserable attitude (95% of them there have) must be OK with that manager and it comes from the top down usually. The Guy that manages Hickory can certainly teach Statesville store a thing or two about customer service and interaction, not to mention kindness in general. Statesville store needs to go visit a Trader Joe's on a field trip to learn how to have kind interactions with customers and appreciate them. read more

Remodeled with the last year. Big improvement For a number of years, this was one of the Aldi's that needed upgrading to the new format and company standards. About a year ago, that occurred at this location and they were closed for a period of item. The reopened after the upgrade but I did not make it back till about a week ago. I shop Aldi quite frequently because of the pricing.Quality of the products are good, even though you usually have to go to another store to finish the list due to limited selections and the store is always clean. The problem I have is the checkout. I had this happen more than once. I have no problem bagging my own groceries,but when I go thru checkout with just 3-4 items and hand the person the bag or put the boxes in the cart and that person makes a point of putting the groceries everywhere but the in the box,it's aggravating. Today the girl basically pushed me out of the way to continue to put other peoples items in her checkout cart,while I tried to bag my items. Plus I don't need to hear this scripted B/S of have a nice or blessed day and thanks for shopping Aldis after you have been an ignorant, inconsiderate pain in the A--. I would rather pay more and shop at one complete store where the workers are helpful and considerate. Next time I'll just leave the groceries where she left them and leave without paying for them, let her put them back. read more

Wanna save a few bucks on groceries w/out carrying tons of coupons and annoying little plastic cards? Don't mind shopping w/out the pretty displays, taste-tester booths and salad bars? Then Aldi is your place. This location is off Hwy 21 (by Lowe's and Mi Pueblo) thus you find all types when you visit. Seniors on a budget, check. Mom's on a budget, check. People who make you hear banjo music, check. All w/one goal: get in, get out, save money. Aldi is not known for one stop shopping; they don't have a huge selection of household and pet items, they don't carry name brand soda and to be honest, their produce leaves a lot to be desired BUT, the rest is really very good. 85-90% of the item's bear Aldi's branding, but are clearly familiar brands you know and love. It is good brain exercise, bound to fight off Alzheimer's, as you walk through and test your memory skills....'Hey, that's Campbell's (Dole, Nestle, Hidden Valley, etc) branding!' So far all the Aldi brands we've tried have been very good, w/only the 'Doritos' (Clancy's Nacho Chips) being not-as-good-as-the-original knock-off. The dairy items, the fresh meat and frozen foods are all very good. Lotsa of snacks and staples to choose from. Not much for the organic crowd. The prices are very, very cheap but the trade off is that you bring your own bags and bag your own groceries. You also pay $.25 for a cart, your deposit returned to you when you return the cart to the corral (thus eliminating the need to pay someone to wrangle carts every hour.) Overall, a very good experience and very much worth the trip and extra energy if you would like good products at great prices. If you need frills, hit the Teeter. If you can DIY, stop by Aldi and save some money for your shoe fund. read more

After wiping my cart, the cashier gives me the cart of the unmasked man, who had been wiping his face and coughing??? So when I asked if he had sprayed... he said yes! Nope, he didn't. Excellent fresh produce and best prices in town! Their off-brand products are equal to if not greater than the name brands and better priced! They do so good at this location, it would probably serve them well to open a second one in west Statesville or Taylorsville area! read more

I buy 80/20 ground beef for my dog here to mix a spoonful in his kibble. They did not have any available today......what? How is that? I bought the next best 85/15 and it cooked up with so much water....ridiculous. No savings here the ground beef IS cheaper but is full of water. Nope, not a good store. read more
