Shenot Farm was founded by the Shenot family in the 1800s. Generations of family members raised…read moreanimals and grew produce. Today, family members grow vegetables such as corn and fruits such as apples. According to the family's website, they use both conventional and organic farming practices. On the farm's website, I also read that throughout the year, Shenot Farm offers events such as hayrides; pick-your-own flowers, apples, and pumpkins; and pumpkin-smashes. In the autumn they sell flowers, pumpkins, cornstalks, Thanksgiving turkeys, and fruit baskets, and in the winter they sell Christmas trees and wreaths. On a Saturday, my husband and I visited this farm's market to browse their foods. We parked our vehicle in their free parking lot. Inside the market, we saw foods such as lettuce, cabbage, green beans, brussels sprouts, beets, plums, sausages, chicken meats, eggs, milk, cheeses, apple ciders, cookies, pies, fudges, popcorns, jams, bread loaves, bagels, seasonings, sauces and dressings, salsas, applesauces, syrups, dessert mixes, granolas, teas, honeys, ice creams, etcetera! We also saw some non-food items such as candles and t-shirts. I selected an orange-colored "cheddar" cauliflower head, apple crisp mix, caramel-apple-pie fudge, and jars of banana butter, strawberry jelly, and apple butter. My husband and I had not previously eaten a few of the unique products, so we felt excited to try them. At the checkout counter, an employee promptly greeted us, accurately rang up our purchase, carefully bagged our foods, and thanked us. Each food cost roughly several dollars.

This was our second year in a row at Shenot Farm for pumpkin picking. There was a larger selection…read moreof pumpkins last year but we did go a weekend earlier. They were bringing pumpkin over in a box from another section of the farm, then placing them on the ground. So there was still a lot of pre-cut pumpkins to choose from. The cost to walk up to the patch is $2 and the hay ride is $5 I believe. The store has a great selection of fresh produce, desserts, and some meat options. We love Shenot Farms!

On a Saturday, my husband and I visited the retail store. When we entered the store, the employee near the door did not greet us. As we walked around the two floors, we saw foods such as pumpkins, apples, corn, tomatoes, apple ciders, pies, cookies, chips, jellies, honeys, chocolate bars, and even Penn State ice cream. We also saw non-food products such as tote bags, holiday decorations, serving trays, and greeting cards. I picked out a bag of honey-crisp apples, a box of peach-cobbler mix, a loaf of zucchini bread, a peanut-butter chocolate bar, and a jar of fig preserves. The decor is beautiful and you are greeted by a rustic and inviting setting when you drive up and again when you walk in. The customer service was very friendly and had that touch you see less of nowadays. It's the kind of place that makes you feel good inside and out. I bought an apple crumble and will likely pick up a pumpkin pie next time.

Smoothie King is a chain restaurant that has locations in the U.S. and some other countries. So…read morefar, I have been a customer of this specific location of Smoothie King a few times. For my previous in-person visit, the employees promptly and kindly served me. For a previous delivery order, I purchased smoothies and snacks through GrubHub. Most recently, my husband bought smoothies in person. This Smoothie King's menu lists dozens of smoothies, including Feel Energized smoothies with caffeine, Get Fit smoothies that are protein-rich, Manage Weight smoothies that are lower in calories, Be Well smoothies that contain vitamins, Enjoy-a-Treat smoothies that are a tasty treat, and Kids smoothies in flavors that kids enjoy. Across these categories are numerous flavors, such as chocolate, strawberry, coffee, banana, pineapple, mango, blueberry, cherry, veggie, apple kiwi, etcetera! Many of the flavors contain nutritional enhancers, including proteins, fiber, vitamins, probiotics, collagen, grains such as quinoa and buckwheat, and so on. The menu also lists other foods such as smoothie bowls with açaí and pitaya as well as snacks such as chips, nuts, and pretzels. For my recent delivery order, I bought the Passion Passport smoothie, the Activator Recovery Strawberry Banana smoothie, a bag of veggie chips, and a bag of peanut-butter pretzels. The delivery driver brought the correct items to me, and I appreciate that they were securely packaged in a cardboard box. My husband and I enjoyed the flavors of these smoothies and snacks. Only two days later, my husband wanted to buy more smoothies from this business, so he returned. He purchased his usual Passion Passport smoothie, and he bought an Angel Food Slim smoothie for me. We both enjoyed the sweet flavors of our smoothies. Our particular smoothies were fairly healthy, but some of the other menu items contain too many calories and grams of sugar. For example, the 40-ounce Hulk chocolate contains 1,280 calories, 44 grams of fat, and 179 grams of sugar!
