Welp- this one takes the cake. I needed fresh corn for dinner (I only had 2 ears from Shop and Save I bought before going out of town 2 weeks ago that I hadn't used. I wanted something fresh...) A whole display ripe for the picking lay before me at Giant Eagle Market District Wexford. I started my search but the entire lot had black matted tassels, and the kernels were dimpled. Desperate not to leave empty handed, and because I made the trip JUST for fresh corn, I picked the best 2 ears I could find. At checkout the cashier was smiling and volunteered she was glad I could find something fresh. Ironic. On eating- it was the worst corn I've ever tasted. Maybe fit for livestock feed. Dried out, tough and tasteless. (I don't ever overcook corn- you should be able to eat it raw...). Disgusted, and needing an accompaniment to dinner- I then cooked and ate the 2 plus week old corn from Shop and Save. Was it sweet anymore? No. Was it juicy and edible? Yes. I can't believe this. The quality of produce has suffered incredibly at Giant Eagle Market District. They charge premium prices, but the quality has tanked- with produce- fairly across the board. I need to shop elsewhere. And we need a Wegman's in Wexford. I don't think I'm the only one with this observation. By the way- they need a REAL cheese selection. The selection has become old and tiresome. Expensive and boring. Few choices. Just saying. (And have said to managers there...) read more

Normally I like shopping at the Market district but my experience at this location will never want me to come back here again. Like all Market districts I've been to they have a prepared foods area as well as grab and go heat and eat type food. The food and products are the same mediocre products I find anywhere. Some produce is overripe and they do have limitations on Co-Vid essentials if they have them in stock. Masks are required and one way directional signage is in place. Since I was in the Village of Pine shops I thought it would be a good idea to pick up a few staples on my list. I was able to get the things I needed and found my way to the check out area. A cashier greeted me and I was able to place on the conveyor belt my purchases. To my surprise the bagger was actually filling another cart with my shopping bags. Also to make matters worse a person was already behind me and had placed her items on the belt. The main problem with this is that the credit machine is at the start of the belt once you enter. I did not see any sign that I'm used to seeing that said "Please wait until you are called." I motioned to the cashier who asked the lady behind me to allow me to go the card reader to complete my transaction. Once I was finished I asked the bagger if she had wiped this cart. She told me that she did. I then gave her my empty cart which she in turn used for the lady who was behind me. In a normal year I wouldn't think too much about this but now with dealing with sanitation and Co-Vid 19 I felt very uncomfortable. I was fortunate to find some purell wipes as I was leaving and I wiped as much of this cart down as possible and then used hand sanitizer. Buyer beware of this action. Should you come here then I would suggest you use the self checkout. read more

This Giant Eagle is actually a Market District, which is their more upscale grocery store. Upon entering the store, I felt pleased that an employee was spraying a disinfectant on all of the shopping carts and was ensuring that customers wore face masks. The departments here were typical: vegetables, fruits, bakery, meats, fishes, boxed and canned goods, frozen foods, dairy, alcohol, health, beauty, cleaning, plants, etc. When I ordered meatloaf from the prepared-foods counter, the employee thanked me and wished me a good day. When I ordered fish at the deli, the employee there also wished me a good day. When I checked out at the cash register, the cashier courteously thanked me. I found all of the items on my shopping list, and the prices were reasonable. This store also has a bank, pharmacy, and dry cleaner on site. read more

Giant Eagle was great! I went to this grocery store while visiting family who live in the area. I was specifically looking for local beers, and Giant Eagle did not disappoint. They have a huge selection! I chose a build-your-own six pack option so that I could try multiple beers. Giant Eagle reminds me a lot of Kroger in Louisville, where I live. They are very similar in most regards, other than the fact that you have to purchase alcohol separately from food at Giant Eagle due to the state's alcohol laws. So, I had to purchase my beer at a register specifically denoted for alcohol purchases. This wasn't any issue though, and the staff was very friendly. read more

This is an absolutely gorgeous Giant Eagle. The prepared foods section is amazing, and the interior is just as impressive. It is hands down the best Giant Eagle I have ever been to. The staff is also super friendly, and they all love their jobs. This is also a Market District, just in case anyone was wondering. read more

This Market District GE reminds me somewhat of a mini whole foods. A little artisan feel. They sell some things that are not sold at GE and they even sell cigars. They also sell gift cards for local places/restaurants. Strangely, one of my fave parts here is the greeting card section. It is not as extensive as GE, but they have card brands that seem more creative/artisan/unique, so I actually like getting them here. Workers are generally nice, but place seems a little crowded/small. read more

Tammy of pickup was not only antagonizes me but she is very rude and disrespectful to me and offended me both times I went there to pickup for DoorDash. She's very aggressive towards me. I won't be back to this location until she's fired. She was so mean to me the last time I was there that I was bawling my eyes out to the florist after I spoke to owner about Tammy. If you do pickup avoid Tammy. Tammy is the one with the short red hair and has acrylic nails. I have no idea how she's a manager of pickup when she's so unprofessional arguing with me with her assistant outside in front of customers at the pickup drive thru line. It's Tammy's way or the highway. She blocked me from ever coming back to giant eagle because I always request them to tie the bags and because I cancelled 2 DoorDash orders because she wanted to give me a difficult time. I had 2 DoorDash orders and one had 36 items and the other had 29 and I asked her nicely to please put the bigger order in the back and the smallest order in the front and she refused to do that and told me to do it myself and that it's giant eagle policy to put the biggest order in the front seat and the smallest order in the backseat and that it is against policy to tie the bags of groceries. She asked if my purse and Selena tote was garbage/trash because she wanted to throw them away to make room. She asked me a stupid question of if I had room in my trunk because the order with the most items wouldn't fit in the front seat. My trunk has a see through window and I had a lot of things in my trunk already because I have a little baby sedan type of vehicle so most of my belongings and stuff I need for my jobs are in my trunk. Tammy is the definition of a menace. If giant eagle doesn't fire her I will have no choice but to seek legal action for her banning me from that giant eagle location for no reason. She messed with my job and she messed with my money by telling DoorDash I can no longer pickup for customers nor visit the store. I had to cancel 2 of my orders because she was being extremely difficult. I have no respect for Tammy and I never will. Honestly I deserve an apology for the way she has treated me. The first time I met her she yelled at me to back my car up 5 feet. When I asked the pickup guy why she asked me that she aggressively confronted me in the parking lot asking me is there an issue between us and if there's a problem. She told me I couldn't talk when I tried to tell her why I'm so frustrated with her and why I told her to put the biggest order in the backseat and the smallest order in the front seat and said to me who cares it's a 7 item difference. Tammy is a bully. I just recently lost my aunt tragically and I don't have time for people like Tammy to be coming for me. Im going through alot in my personal life and I don't have the energy to deal with unkind people. Tammy ostriches me. There's other people in the pickup line who are on the person's number in front of them but she never once had said anything to those people about backing up. I don't know if Tammy is prejudice or racist or jealous or all of those things but she has no right treating me the way that she has been treating me and talking me to me in a very condescending manner. Shame on her. She claims that employees of pickup have complained about me but not one time did anyone ever come out and speak to me about those complaints and Tammy couldn't even tell me what the complaints about me were and told me it wasn't my business and not to worry about it because it was handled. And she still brings up the backing up my car 5 feet thing which happened WEEKS AGO. This Tammy lady honestly has a grudge and vendetta against me and obviously does not like me. At the end of the day God does not like ugly so I'm not worried about how Giant Eagle or my attorney will deal with her. What goes around comes back around. Stopping in here for the first time since I moved 2.5 years ago made me remember how much I wish I could transport this store to replace the Harris Teeter across the street from me! They have EVERYTHING here-lots of specialty items too. It's very comparable to Whole Foods but features lower prices. Produce is always fresh and the staff at the deli, fish, and meat counters are always friendly and helpful. I appreciate the drive-thru pharmacy for convenience too. Another bonus of the location is the Get-go practically next door so you can use all those Fuelperks from shopping on gas. I wish PA would change their liquor laws and sell wine in the stores, but, it does help that this location also has a Wine & Spirits store in the same shopping complex. read more

Honestly this is the best supermarket I've ever been to and it's one of the only ones I shop at. No only is the quality rly amazing, but I eat sushi from there and never in my life have my family and I gotten sick. The sushi tastes great and their fresh seafood and meat products are always good. Even their prepared food is pretty delicious. The store has everything and nothing is truly overpriced. I sometimes even compare the steak I make with their meat to places that sell steak for $80 when I get the same taste and quality for less than $20. I definitely recommend. read more

Giant Eagle has been a go to until I ran into a man named Erik. My elderly Aunt was picking up two cans of corn to examine their nutritional values. She was having trouble reading the label so she approached me asked if I could help her. After seeing this a strange looking man with dyed hair approached me grabbed my shoulder and turned me around. His name was Erik. He removed his mask and shouted 'Sorry we only serve paying customers here' I informed him that I intended to pay. But he refused this and grabbed the cans out of my hand. He proceeded to rip my Aunt's mask off and told her that she should 'go back to where you came from' and that 'your kind isn't welcome in this establishment'. I can only assume he said this because I am a Latino and my Aunt speaks with a heavy accent. I left the establishment on the spot and I don't plan on returning. read more

Finally a Market District where I did not want to go into a rage and freak out because it was too obnoxiously packed! Living in the Southside, we tend to have to drive to other parts of town to get a lot of the things that we want, and have found that Shadyside and Robinson have been just too packed, and the Waterfront can lack a lot of the items that we are seeking. Thank you Giant Eagle for finally opening another Market District (although I still think you need one at Southside Works!). Easy to park, maneuver the store, good solid selection for the most part (Robinson's Beer selection is still better though)... a good experience in a less hectic environment! read more

This may be the best Giant Eagle I've stopped in. It's absolutely huge, equipped with a hot and cold buffet with great selection of fresh veggies. In addition, there is an incredible bakery, pizzeria, and sub station. Everything seems to be run very efficiently. Plus, it's great that a lot of the branches (including Shadyside Market District) have added booze centers with a good selection of brews (though they are a bit pricey). I wish that this Market District could replace the branch in Shadyside. read more

Fantastic Giant Eagle. The store is well laid pit, and the selection of items is extensive. The staff has always been helpful and pleasant. The only changes I would make is open the Pharmacy earlier (perhaps 8am instead of 9) and have a larger selection of beer. But thats really it. They have meals to go meals, a huge selection of cheese, candy, meat, fish, dairy etc. Cant o wrong here. read more

Yeah, f*ck this store man. My wife and I have been going here for years. Super over-priced, but (in our opinion) worth it for their food and service. We frequent it so much that the employees of the Starbucks in that store actually got us a wedding card. It's worth noting that my wife is noticeably pregnant right now. So that being said, we went in earlier and made the mistake of not getting a cart. You know how it goes, think you only need 5 things, end up buying 50 things. So we had our hands full going to check out, and I had a case of water on my shoulder that starts emptying bottles onto the floor. One shot off and got me soaked, and the employees just stood there, aghast, onlooking like a bunch of idiots. So that happened. Then, I went to help my wife carry some of her bags and the items start tumbling onto the floor. What did the employees do? Looked like a bunch of stupid deer caught in the headlights. I understand that this issue begins with us not having the foresight to get a cart, but for fucks sake. If I see someone struggling like that, I will immediately stop to help them--no questions asked. They don't even have to be PREGNANT for me to do so. I don't even have to be an EMPLOYEE to do so. I just would as a good person. Their employees apparently don't share my moral and ethical outlook. I will make sure to steer friends and colleagues away from this place in the future. read more

I loved this grocery store. Just as others have said, it is like a Whole Foods, but also just a very well appointed grocery store, with prices much lower than WF. The reason I am writing is that I just got off the phone with the manager, whom I had called to report food poisoning from the sushi. My son (12) and I, had each gotten two different types. Mine (technically not "Sushi" ), was a veggie roll. His was "eel roll". Within two hours of eating it, we both became violently ill, and had all symptoms of food poisoning. I consulted with a doctor friend who confirmed that it was highly likely this and not nurovirus, because it happened so quickly after we consumed it, and brought all of the characteristics. I was reluctant to call the store because the sushi was delicious, and the Sushi Chef was so very nice and accommodating. But to save others from this issue, I thought it responsible to make the call. The manager, whose name I did not remember due to my all-around weakness, immediately questioned my claim. I was not going to Yelp, nor do any further than let them know what happened. I did not ask to be reimbursed, nor anything else. I explained that I researched what could have been the culprit and learned that "uncooked rice" is on the very short list. He argued that point, and also argued whether we could have gotten food poisoning at all, based on his experience with the way they clean surfaces, etc. I have not had food poisoning in 13 years, and I remember EXACTLY how it happened the first time. Different food consumed, but identical otherwise in the speed of onset and symptoms. I was very disappointed in the lack of caring and concern expressed by this guy. If he knew the type of person I am; honest and ethical, he would not have gone on the defensive, and instead cared about how our lives were turned upside down by the event that occurred in his store. That is not good management. I am very disappointed, and incidentally, it is exhausting to even type this. Be careful. read more
