There is a decent amount of adventure in the estate, which is massive and with a great scenic view; and yet at no point did i feel unsafe or that there was room for risk. we were a bunch of friends and a family with 2kids under 10 were taking part too. we all had the same amount of fun. Words of advice: your body temperature is going up amd down, be prepare for both. there were no tea/coffee facility when we came which is a real pity so you mihht bring ur own water.we ve been told june onwards is mad busy so booking well ahead is crucial. If you re only interested in the accommodation part of their activity, lets be honest, the houses are ugly unfinished looking things. didnt check the inside tho. i guess the amazing view and the remoteness, along with the river liffey and the sound of birds could make up for that but seriously they could have done a better job at the aesthetic of the houses. great place for fun time in families and friends.

Kippure Estate offers plenty of holiday rental properties within its 240 acres of private estate in…read morethe Wicklow mountains. First impressions are the properties are in a remote location well suited to people who want to get away from it. However, the Estate also doubles up as a team building/corporate centre so it can be far from quiet. We booked a week out of season (May 2008) for 5 adults and two infants in one of the 4 bedroom self-catering apartments. The booking was directly through the compehensive website. The standard of the property we stayed in was average - nothing special. It consisted of 3 bedrooms (one with ensuite) and bathroom on the ground floor and one bedroom on the first floor where the main lounge, dining and kitchen area was located in open plan format. The kitchen is not particularly well stocked with utensils, especially for a large family group, and it was difficult to obtain missing items from reception. Overall I would say the property was OK. For families with small children you should be aware that most days needed an hour in the car to get to the major attractions nearby e.g. the beach south of Wicklow, Glendalough, Powerscourt, etc. This also applies to provisions as there are no shops around the corner - a good 30 minute drive the nearest grocers so stock up or be prepared for a drive. However, it is a good base for day trips to Dublin. Drive to Dublin Zoo and jump on the City sightseeing bus - a good cheap option to get into Dublin avoiding the traffic. Overall, if you really want to get away from it all I would suggest looking for a cosier property that would feel comfortable in bad weather (which can be common in these parts). Unfortunately, this place did not do it for us but this is my opinion so others may love it.

Our flight got in early, and even though check in wasn't for a few hours, she not only let us check in early but gave us an upgraded room. The hot water stopped after the first night and the ventilation fan is not the best, probably dirty. Tried to ask for garbage removal twice but eventually had to drop it in the hallway until they could see it. Not really a big bowl in the house for making food in. Mostly set up for a 1-2 person cook. Good location is about all it has and you'll pay a hefty price to put up with the other things so I hate to say it but it's a no for me... I don't rate low very often but this is a tough one...

Finally after ten minutes in the rain a resident let us in and they let us know that yesterday a family friend had come by to let them in after getting drunk at bar but they had not been able to contact owners. We ended up getting the place next door last minute and it's been seven hours, still haven't heard anything from this place. This review is going to a gushing tribute to the one of the best getaway experiences I have ever…read morehad. Let me set the scene of Rock farm before I continue, set in the Meath Countryside with Slane Castle creating a picturesque backdrop Rock Farm is quite possibly the best glamping location on the island of Ireland. There is a variety of accommodation on site including shepherds huts, tents and yurts as well as a traditional thatched farm house that sleeps 22 people. We stayed in the yurt named Hazel which was at the far end of the site. It could have comfortably slept 6 people but it was also cosy enough for 2. Our candlelit yurt came equipped with a wood burning stove and a double bed. The yurts can get cold at night so make sure you collect plenty of wood and kindling from the 'shack'. The 'shack' is the communal kitchen and shower facilities. The kitchen has a gas stove and all the cooking equipment you could possibly want. The showers are clean and warm and are a far cry from old dingy one drip showers you usually associate with campsites. Outside the shack there is a BBQ and a clay pizza oven which are free to use. We purchased a BBQ pack and a pizza kit for the nights we stayed and this allowed us to turn up and not worry about food. I would suggest bringing extra condiments and maybe a few salad items for your BBQ. There are some bits and pieces in the shack but it's best to be safe. There's also a wood burning hot tub in the middle of the farm - be warned it does take a few hours to heat up but once it's bubbling it's definitely worth a dip, especially under candlelight. The location of Rock Farm is excellent. Only one hour 30 minutes from Belfast by car and a short walk from the welcoming pubs of Slane it makes for the perfect retreat. Few pointers - 1. Theres no electricity in the yurts but you can charge your phone/laptop/lanterns at The Shack. 2. The farm is sustainable which means they don't waste anything including what goes down the toilet so expect to use a compost toilet. One thing that really set Rock Farm apart was the staff. From the moment we arrived they addressed us by our first names and nothing we requested was too much bother. they even took the time to text us to check how our stay was going. First Class in every single way!

The location is just outside Slane and nicely secluded away from the hustle and bustle of the real world, out here you're surrounded by mature trees and a wonderful rolling landscape that sweeps down to the river Boyne - with the castle sitting off in the distance. There's a really great vibe from the place and I can't think of anywhere better to go with friends or family for a chilled out weekend.
