Right in the heart of Temple Bar, it's within easy walking distance of Trinity College, Grafton Street, Dublin Castle, countless pubs and restaurants, and many of Dublin's top attractions. We hardly needed transportation the entire time we were there. The Morgan is a boutique hotel with a modern feel, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, air conditioning (not always a given in Europe), and updated bathrooms. Everything throughout the hotel was spotless and well maintained. One concern about staying in Temple Bar is the late-night noise, but it wasn't an issue for us. Our room (#217) overlooked the back of the hotel, and we slept soundly every night. The staff was consistently warm and welcoming, and we especially enjoyed the restaurant team that greeted us each morning for a traditional Irish breakfast. They were a wonderful way to start each day. When we return to Dublin, I plan to stay at The Morgan again.

Upon checking in we were directed to an elevator that was too small for more than 2 people and their luggage, but you need your room key to be able to go up the elevator. Made me feel safe. When we got into the room, the first place I checked out was the bathroom, and the shower was phenomenal. But when I moved into the room, there was either red wine spilled on the white carpet and not cleaned, or something else I do not want to think about. This part made me not feel so clean, which is why it is a 3-star rating.

The four of us (grandparents with two 9 your old grandchildren) stayed one night in the family room (two twins and a queen) and later two nights in two rooms (a double and a better double, both with queen sized beds). The smaller room was small, but room enough to sit in a sofa chair and at a desk with chair. The larger room was even nicer. The front desk was welcoming and amiable. The breakfast was very well done, with a cooked breakfast option (including a well done 'full Irish breakfast') and one had the option of continental breakfast in a small buffet. We did all of the above. Next we visit Dublin, we will make it a point to star at Wynn's.

No air conditioning, which I'm sure wouldn't normally be an issue. We stayed in June and it felt like that had the heater going and the temp was low 70 to high 60s. The room felt like it was 75-80 degrees and there is only a tiny wonder and a desk fan to cool the room. Overall, the room was okay and you can tell it was refurbished... but again for the price, it didn't seem justified. No parking, breakfast is not included and again, still about a 30 min walk to the downtown/ temple bar area.

To get the cheapest itinerary it made sense to have a layover in Dublin, even though it was truly never on our must-see list. We had no regrets! Although Dublin is cold/windy/was even hailing during our May 2016 stay here, it was worth a 1 night layover (and a great way to adjust with jetlag before the big trip began). As for the Maldron, it is imperative to take a Taxi if you are traveling with any more than 2-3 people, because it ends up being cheaper than taking the airport bus. I believe it was about 35 Euros for the cab ride each way, a smooth 35 minute ride. The hotel is a bit aged but had recently been gutted. It is clean, in a safe, quiet (Extremely quiet) neighborhood. If you enjoy walking, it is an easy 15-25 minute stroll to the main downtown area and restaurants. There is also a tram within 5 minutes of the hotel. We found that late at night it was difficult to get a bite to eat near the hotel and thus had to walk into the main strip/downtown area. The hotel staff are kind and quick to respond to any requests and issues. One note is that when going to the airport, if you want to save 2 Euros hail a cab yourself, because any time you have to call ahead of time for a cab the 2 Euros fee is charged!

HOWEVER - staff CANCELED by ENTIRE reservation and clocked me as a NO SHOW THEN - despite my simple request for a quiet room, b/c I was on a bereavement visit - they IGNORED IT I was given the NOSIEST room in the hotel - it had a horrible view of mechanical equipment that filled the whole alley, then it was also the glass recycling bins - and it's like a frat house every night! After 2 days of non operating key cards, Staff was a bit demeaning...offering a free coffee one day. The next day, for my troubles they offered a small box of treats - which I took, but returned after I was once again, locked out of the room b/c even lock battery went dead and I was locked out for 20 minutes! coffee and candy just doesn't cut it after that. I demanded a better room. On my way out the next day, I said, "I look forward to my room change this afternoon" and the clerk asked why - I told him to check with the mgmt. from the previous night. Thanks for being kind guys - but you wouldn't have to apologize, if the job was done right. My reservation cancelation, unquiet accommodations, late arrival, key card issues were only handled as pocket problems - and was not spread across management so everyone was aware. Communication is GOOD Temple Bar Hotel - I did my part - I checked and double checked with staff to make sure the extra late (or super early) check in was processed and I would be expected AND I paid for that accommodation - staff lack of communication between shift mgrs. could have had me on the street w/o a reservation that I made weeks in advance. If you arrive earlier than check-in time, (or leave later than check-out) they will hold your luggage for no additional charge. The hotel decor is a bit dated but I guess this adds to the appeal. My room was spacious and comfortable and it had all the standard features including a hair dryer, tea kettle, and a fan, which will come in handy in the warmer months. I am not a fan of the double faucets in Europe as it is difficult to wash your face when you have hot and cold separate. There was an issue with the light switches and bedside lamp that the hotel was quick to come and fix, but it would have been nice to have a note by the switches that showed which switch was for which light. Very confusing turning them on and off trying to figure them out. One of the absolute best things about my stay was the shower pressure. OMG - absolutely the best shower I think I've ever had. The products in the bathroom are very good quality as well and smell amazing. There are no washcloths, but I came prepared with my own. The hotel has live music in the lounge every night and the "Celtic Nights" dance shows. I didn't see the show but I did enjoy the live music while having dinner and/or drinks a couple of nights. I'd definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in Dublin.

Our room's window was facing the street so you could hear everything that was happening outside. So if you're a light sleeper, I'd probably ask for a room farther away. It was pretty loud during Friday they Sunday nights but less loud during the weekdays. No A/C but they do supply a fan. No business area (no access to computers). Windows can be opened but there's no screen so bugs can come through. The location is good to restaurants, bars and shopping area. Near buses.
