The park had activities, including pictures with Santa, roasting marshmallows, hot chocolate for purchase, a beer garden, and food trucks! Lots of kids running around and families creating memories. It seemed a bit pricey for $25/ticket for 13y/o and up, but they did a great job with the lights and it made for several photo opportunities!

Standouts included Opuntia Prickly Pear "brandy," which was very unique and deliciously exotic. Transmission Brewery's new Street Glide hazy IPA. And of course, the AR Catering BBQ truck's amazing and slutty pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich. It was very cool to listen to the vendors explain their products and their processes with pride. Very interesting! I really appreciated the nice wide-open area for the event. It gave off a cool, relaxed vibe, rather than a dusty stampede of drinkers that you might experience in a smaller, more crowded space. Unfortunately we had to leave before the music started. We didn't take one of the special buses to the event, but I really appreciated that people could ride from Santa Barbara, Goleta, Santa Maria, and Lompoc to attend the event, drink their hearts out and go home safely. What sets this gathering apart is large number of talented wine makers and owners representing their brands. If you want to learn a little more about what your drinking, beyond the canned tasing notes, you want to be here. Winemakers love to talk about their passion and most will take a moment to tell you all about what's in your glass. This fear is looking for its home. I attended years at the Riverfront Park in Buellton. Last year it moved out to Lompoc and now up at Rancho Sisquoc Winery. Translation from Santa Barbara is always available but this year was downgraded from an Airbus like motor coach to The party busses from Jump on the School Bus. Noting against Darin and Sierra's party busses, I've ridden them may times. This event it higher end with no need for a stripper pole. But I digress.

Stopping at Ostrichland USA on our way home from Solvang a few weeks ago was a must on our…read moreitinerary! Pricing was $7 for adults and $3 for kids under 12 plus $1 for each person wanting to feed the Ostrich and Emu. You enter through a gift shop and then out to where all of the birds are - they even had a couple of bunnies and a cat. There were so many Ostrich and Emu spread out everywhere. They come right up to you and just start pecking away! Tip: if you walk down further where the Emu are, there is more room to move around and plus there are lots of birds to feed. I think the Ostrich at the front of the entrance get most of the food - we felt bad not going to where the others were. The whole area was pretty cool - it kind of felt like we were on a safari with how picturesque the mountains and land were. The lady running the gift shop who also explained the rules was very nice! I highly recommend if you have small kids or just need a place to stop and stretch your legs! They offer bathrooms as well! Check them out!

Haiku: Ostrichland…read more Part farm and part zoo Feed ostriches and emus Bring the family! --- When in Solvang, you must stop by Ostrichland! Ostrichland is a ranch, farm, zoo, and park all rolled into one! This is a popular spot with families. It's such a unique and fun opportunity to feed ostriches and emus up close. Kids love it here. When feeding these giant birds, be sure to hold the feeding bowl handle tightly with two hands. Their peck is strong! There are plenty of photo ops around the sprawling farm. They are eager and will pose for food! Parking is plentiful on their private lot. There's also a gift shop with ostrich souvenirs and even eggs to buy! Make sure to check their hours on holiday weekends; sometimes, they close early.
