Visited their store in Gatlinburg. Great quality pottery work and really nice staff. Will revisit to add to my collection next time I'm there

"Joy to the World " coffee mug

I love ordering through the mail. I always get what I want. I am excited to have a visit planned this fall. The mugs are very sturdy and perfect shape to keep my hands warm on cold days. I use my gifted "Joy to the World" mug year round! I like love having JOY on a daily basis!!

For my 100th review I am giving a shout out to this amazing place. The native leaves they use make their pieces is unique. Great visual depth is shown in their glaze technique. There is something in every price range here. You can catch folks working on pieces when you wandering through. There are a lot of great pottery places in Gatlinburg. Run out Glades Road and check this one out! The staff is friendly and you can even sit is a rocking chair and watch a little TV with artisans.

Just one of many, many mug designs.

We've been going for years now and still love stopping in for a new mug or gift for someone. This trip we saw a cool new style they're currently making and bought two bowls. In addition to a beautiful oven-safe(to 350°F) baking dish. And another mug of course! This pottery is just so far above the other others you'll find anywhere nearby, or anywhere I've personally found to be honest. Robert and associates are very talented!

Lots of hand crafted, well made pottery. Each item is beautifully painted and unique. I received a coffee mug from here as a gift last year, and it's the only one I use! Bought another one this year. Hope to get a good collection.

My parents and I stopped here to look at the antique store next door and because I am very interested in ceramics. I urgently had to use the restroom but they yelled at me to "just go to the gas station" because you had to pay for something in order to use their restroom. My parents paid and then heard the same rude women yelling at another family that "since they have their own bathroom it's really hard cause everyone wants to use it and not buy things." I thought people in the mountains were supposed to be kind. Wish the staff could have found five minutes to be kind to their customers.

    Two of three purchases.

My wife and I decided to make a stop at Alewine Pottery prior to our road trip home. The shop was easy to find and provides ample parking to say the least. We had the pleasure of listening to a band quietly playing a song fit for a beautiful spring morning as we made our way toward the outdoor displays. Without having the most experience in pottery we were both very impressed with the quality of the craftsmanship. The prices are somewhat high however you can actually feel why these pieces are priced the way they are. The staff was laid back and genuinely sweet. Alewine Pottery should without a doubt be added to your list of destinations if you're visiting Gatlinburg.

Alewine pottery is hands down the best in Gatlinburg. When you enter you are surrounded by lovely people eager to greet you and say hello. They are currently making a space for kids to sit and color and for dads to watch t.v. Everytime you show up you will find someone working on the next set of pottery to go out on the shelves. Wonderful place.

They carried such a variety of locally crafted arts, absolutely something for everyone, with prices ranging all over. They have 2 floors of crafts and a room full of history of the building and history of Gatlinburg. Including photos of them moving the entire building in 1996. We bought a painted gourd xmas tree ornament the worker was creating when we were there, Great shop for gifts or locally made souvenirs, with a very friendly staff!

It's a collective of different artists and you can find everything from marbled journals to wooden wine stops, to knitted items, and pottery. I was fortunate enough to get a marbling demo from Pat K. Thomas in the studio upstairs. It was fun to try my hand at it! It's such a cool process. Everyone is very friendly and there are many cool finds as you're browsing around. I love shopping local and supporting artists in the community and this is the perfect place for that. The history behind it is always interesting. They actually physically moved the entire building to their current location. Make sure to get someone working to explain it to you. Pro Tip: Ask for a dishpan cookie. They are delish!
