Terrible foods! It is not even authentic Greek or Mediterranean style of cuisine. Hummus was extremely salty. Beware for people with high blood pressure. The calamari was filled with lots of sauces, perhaps it is covering the smelly taste of seafoods. It is definitely not fresh. In addition, there is lots of thick cream & butter in Masala chicken. It feels like heart attack. We been to Greece & this is definitely NOT authentic. I would NOT recommend anyone to this restaurant! read more

This was our final dinner destination during our trip to Nanaimo and it was a great choice as the food was a great portion size and tasted absolutely delicious! We opted for their greek platter for two which included chicken and lamb souvlaki (both tender and flavourful), spanakopita, pita with hummus, moussaka, rice, lemon potatoes and greek salad. The amount of food was great for the price and the moussaka was HUGE and so very tasty! They even provided a cheesecake slice for dessert which came with a mango coulis and some free pop. We added on an order of their chicken strips which were a bit over cooked and only mediocre as well as the calamari which was a little bit oily but a great price for a large appetizer portion! Unfortunately, they had forgotten to give us the pita and spanakopita with our order and we had to travel back to the restaurant to grab it. They were so nice and seemed genuinely sorry and even gave us another slice of cheesecake. I could tell that the people who worked here cared for their customers and wanted to provide a great dining experience. Overall, delicious food, great people and a huge menu! Wife and I discovered this place 2 years ago and have made it our destination whenever we feel like Mediterranean food. We used to love Marina's Taverna and needed a new Greek place to go after they shut down. Took a recommendation to try Alexandra's from a friend and after our first visit we were hooked. While the menu is deep and the prices are right, the food is spectacular! The staff and service is wonderful. The first time we went to Alexandra's Bistro, my boyfriend and I had the loveliest time. We got the platter for two, a very generous and great variety arrangement. Our server was polite, and the service was fast, without feeling rushed. Fast forward to the second dining experience with Alexandra's, we got take out tonight. Such a wonderful place. Intimate, personal, welcoming and the food tastes like it's straight out of Greece. Family owned and operated. the food here is absolutely amazing! took my teen daughter out for a mother daughter dinner date and we had a great time. my daughter had the baked salami n and said it was delicious and tender. I had the calamari platter. the calamari was crunchy and so good not over cooked. the Greek potato's were to die for! our waitress, I believe her name was autumn? was amazing, knowledgeable, and a great help in picking out our dinner! great little conversation too! this girl is a keeper! read more

I have been to this restaurant numerous times, each time hoping they will improve their service and their food. We usually get take-out because the service is so bad and they have a lot of turnover with servers. The last time we got take-out we spent over $70 (Greek Platter for 2 and an appetizer). The servers were unprofessional and slow, and the main cook that I believe is the owner is always rude and extremely arrogant. We came to pick up our meal after 35 minutes on an order we were told would take 30 minutes, and we still had to wait 10 minutes for our food. When we got home multiple contents had spilled out of the containers and into the bag because they were packed sideways from trying to cram the food into only a couple of bags. The chocolate syrup they put on the cheesecake got everywhere, along with the sauce from our prawn appetizer. Sadly this is not the first time they have improperly packed our take-out bags and spilled all of our food. As someone who has worked at a restaurant for over 5 years, I know how to stack containers in a bag and if I think it's going to spill everywhere or crush the containers, I get another bag! Also instead of cheaping out by only using the Styrofoam containers, they could use the soup containers that have a lid for the dishes that have a lot of sauce that can leak out. The food was not fresh... in fact it was stone cold, and we only live a few minutes away. They also have been putting less and less food in this Greek platter, while the price keeps going up. Basic Greek food should not be difficult to make at a GREEK restaurant, and this food was just absolutely bad. I always tell myself "never again," but then I try to give them another chance whenever I am in the mood for Greek food since it is close by and we do not have any good Greek restaurants in Nanaimo. However, this is definitely a restaurant you do NOT want to try. My mother was at a work lunch with a larger group (~15 people) and not only did they run out of food, but the dessert they bought from some store was still frozen when they brought it out to the table. There was another time where the calamari was grossly undercooked, and when we said something to the server the owner came out and started being extremely rude and disrespectful while blaming it on us. This is absolutely NOT a place that puts their customers first, as the owner does not value his customers nor does he value the quality of his food, restaurant, or his entire business for that matter. read more

We went to Alexandra's bistro for dinner tonight, our starter was very greasy our main dishes Were cold and the rice had a weird after taste. The spaghetti and meatballs were horrible and couldn't be finished.the service was ok but have had better. We won't be going back ...yuck! read more
