I needed a quick gift for my dear friend whose daughter graduated from high school and is on her way to Princeton. What do you get a young lady who has everything? Flowers. Since I live in south Orange County, I looked up a flower shop near my friend's home. I looked at the reviews for Alexa's and I called. A gentleman by the name of Joe answered the phone. I told him I needed a nice bouquet, with feminine colors for a young lady. It took a total of 5 minutes to order and give Joe my card and the delivery information. 45 minutes later the flowers were delivered and Joe texted me to tell me they had been. Came here last minute for a bouquet of flowers. Paid about $30 something dollars for half a dozen roses. It is a little on the pricier side, but totally worth it in my opinion. The older man who made my bouquet was friendly and put a lot of detail in making sure it looked gorgeous. This review is based solely off the excellent communication with one of the staff members by the name of Angelica. I ordered the "happy thoughts" arrangements and shortly after received a call from the store. They did not have have required flowers in stock and called to ask if I would like to proceed with the order. I thought this not only showed their courtesy but their professionalism. I decided to proceed with the order and Angelica told me she would make them look great with the substituted flowers. There was an error on the delivery date by my part- I called an spoke with Angelica and she was awesome! She allowed me to reschedule the date. I would recommend this flower boutique to anyone! The shop owner may not have noticed my order as it was close to the cut off time but I just called for an update around 4/4:30 and it turned out beautifully! I was so disappointed I went a day before to order some fresh flowers and the guy told me they will be ready in the morning when I pick them up it looked to me like he gave Me some that been sitting in the freezer. Angelica ordered peonies for my wedding in mid-July when everyone said they couldn't get it anymore. I even visited the L.A. Flower Mart at 6am, one week prior to my wedding and only one vendor said they can import them. Everyone else just said they were no longer available. This small flower shop can do it all. **Please note, that my review is based on my Christmas tree experience, BUT the outstanding overall service is what's to be noted here....** I must start by telling you that I am not easily impressed, oftentimes cynical, yet this place WOWED me! After spending a long day visiting several overpriced and poor quality Christmas tree vendors around the SGV, my GF and I driving home exhausted when we discovered Alexa Flowers around 9:55 pm. We figured what the Heck and stopped. Boy are we glad we did! We were greeted by the owner Joe Jones who has been in the flower business for 10+ years (Alexa was formerly next to the Burlington Coat Factory), at his current location for 1 year, and is brand-spanking new to the Christmas tree game. He was very friendly and allowed us to take our sweet time looking around the small, but beautiful selection of trees despite being closed already. After 10-15 minutes, we ultimately fell in love with a 6 foot, full-bodied Noble Fir. As you may know, Noble Firs can be QUITE expensive.....and we wanted to stay within a $60-$70 budget. So being Asian we secretly discussed our bargaining strategy in a language other than English. However, to our surprise, the tree was only $60 and delivery was only $10 (we live ~3 miles away in San Gabriel). Joe knew we were up to something and simply called us out on it. He offered us a great deal for both th IN ADDITION, while the staff worked overtime to satisfy me GF's desire to have the tree delivered same night, Joe invited us into the actual flower shop to get out of the cold and we were led in by Angela. The store has some beautiful flowers, specifically roses of ALL colors...even blue. I inquired about pricing for roses during Valentine's Day, which for the record are $60-$75 depending on color + cut. My GF has a thing for purple roses (who doesn't right) so Angela pulls out the best one, asks my GF how long she wants it, and trims it down before handing it over for free!!! My tree was delivered personally by Joe and Junior 30 minutes later and brought all the way to my door. After a handshake and some casual conversation they were on their way. Bottom line, what an amazing overall experience with a non-pretentious shop. They understand that repeat business and happy customers are the key to sustainability. read more

Alexa's Flowers creates beautiful arrangements. We have used their services for many years and have always been happy with their work. So why only two stars? The shop reeks of cigarette smoke! Not just a little bit - a huge slap in the face smell the second you walk in their door. It was pretty stinky the last time or two we were there earlier this year, but last week we were only in there for about 10 minutes and we both smelled like cigarettes when we got in our car. Very unprofessional! There are too many other options in town for flowers to have to subject our health, our clothing and our hair to the haze in this shop. I came here in a hurry looking for balloons to decorate my party with. It was for a graduation party. Since it isn't grad season yet it was difficult to find grad balloons. The gentleman at the counter looked for a whole 10 minutes around the shop trying to hunt down the Mylar grad balloons. He didn't find any but I appreciated the effort. I ended up getting regular latex balloons. -1 for a poorly organized selection of colors. Their red balloons were in 2 different shades mixed together, so if I hadn't alerted him I would have gotten 2 shades of red. It took him a while to find black balloons...purple, brown, finally he found black. I'm already 15 minutes invested here. Then he proceeded to blow up my balloons which took what seemed like an eternity. I also wanted black ribbon and they had none! I wanted a dozen red gerbera daisies, they had literally 2. -1 price. $17.50 + tax for 14 balloons. I thought he said $15 but I guess I heard wrong. Also I was looking for roses and carnations and he was quoting me these crazy prices. $20 for a doz carnations?! With a scarce selection and poorly organized merchandise, how can you charge premium prices? I walked out feeling ripped off and now late to my party because this trip ended up taking over 30 minutes! Disappointing experience. I want to support local shops like these, but this one is behind the times and charging a premium that isn't justified. This is why small shops fail when competing with places like Pavilions. Please organize your merchandise (and restock your ribbon!!) and keep a nice selection of flowers around if you're trying to charge fancy prices. read more
