This women has never had any training in being a seamstress. She will ruin your wedding. She will ruin your dress. She will try to double charge you for a hack job and severely ruin anything she touches. Never go near her. You will regret it deeply. She's also not a licensed wedding dress buyer, so all her dresses are ancient relics from an old lot sale she either stole off the back of a truck or bought dirt cheap. She can't get your size if it doesn't exist in her store because no wedding dress maker will allow her to buy from them. She'll ruin all the bridesmaids dresses you order, and then tell you it's your fault. She's not in the Better Business Bureau for a good reason - she's an unethical person with a rotten soul and will rip you off, destroy your dress, and lie to your face about it. read more

I bought a lovely wedding dress and the owner did a perfect job tailoring it. I had been to other bridal shops and was disappointed that so many of their dresses were too similar to each other. Alexi's carries a huge variety of unique and sophisticated wedding dresses. The bridesmaid's dresses are fun styles and come in gorgeous colors, too. I like the way I was treated, overall. When I first visited the shop. I told the owner that I look good in sparkles, and she chose dresses that she thought would look great on me. They were flattering and fit the description of what I wanted. Then later, when I needed the usual alterations, the shop was very busy, but the owner fit me in and delivered on time. I would recommend this shop to anyone who needs guidance on what looks best on them and who is looking for a dress that is well above the usual fare . read more

I would not recommend going here at all! I stopped in because I was next door for lunch. I wanted to simply look at what types of hair pieces they had. The woman behind the messy counter tried to shove a tiara down my throat even after I said I was sure I did not want one. She said, "well in my opinion I think you should have one." She then tried to get me to purchase three other headbands when I declined, because they were nice, just not what I was looking for, she prompted, "what's wrong with them. They're beautiful" in a tone as if I was refusing something she handmade especially for me. Updated review: I had another seamstress fix the work that Alexi's Bridal did to my bridesmaids dress. She managed to repair my dress! So all was not lost, thankfully. I'm now disputing the alteration charges with Alexi's, because I paid a lot of money for absolutely nothing. The seamstress who fixed my dress told me that the alterations previously done to the dress by Alexi's Bridal were very bad, and it was barely salvageable. She had cut hems and left no allowances to go back and fix mistakes. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!! End result: I drove one hour and 20 minutes and HELEN, the owner, would not let me try the gown on. I called Alexi's trying to find my dream dress, as seen on the web, to try on; I had tried 15 boutiques that carry this gown maker before her and no one had it - I was quoted a price of $378 to have the gown. ordered. I told Helen this and asked what her price was. She said "More than that" and refused to quote me a price over the phone. SO I said I would come in and try the dress, get her price and hopefully be able to work with her. Helen was surly, rude and mean, stating she was "exhausted" with people trying her dresses and then buying elsewhere. Her price was $455 and she refused to make any kind of deal with me, despite me telling her several times that I was willing to work with her on the price. Then she said if I wasn't going to buy the dress from her she would not let me try it on. Unbelievable. read more

If I could give a no star I would...it is a long tale of woe, that is too long for here, but the short of it is this...My daughter luckily did NOT get her dress at Alexi's Bridal, but her bridesmaids did. The girls each had the usual 2 fittings, and at those fittings Helen was so pompous that she would not listen to how the girls felt in the dresses. She kept saying that we were working with a pro and not to worry. At the last fitting, I (the mother of the bride, with a degree in Home Economics) was horrified at the way the girls were being undermined, as well as how Helen was trying to take dreadful shortcuts to fix the dresses. There was so much wrong at the second fittings it might as well have been their firsts. I had to speak up only to be told she was the expert and they would be fine. I finally had to be rude back and tell her NO, and that she was NOT to alter the jackets by pulling them in at back seam rather than at the sides (the armholes were practically going to touch in back!). Helen told us she didn't need any more than 2 weeks to get all 5 of them done (with no wiggle room before the wedding date) and to pick them up a couple of days before the wedding. I asked for an estimate for the alterations and she would not give me a straight answer...in an attempt to be funny, she replied, "I need to pay my mortgage, you know!" When my husband and I picked them up, there were NO dress forms to keep their shapes, and no bags to cover them. When we asked, HELEN said they never bag them. Another alarm went off in my head...SLIPSHOT practices at best. AND THEN THE BILL CAME...for 4 dresses the bill came to almost $700...JUST FOR ALTERATIONS (seems the mortgage thing was no joke!). THAT was not the worst of it...that night I had the maid of honor (only one in the area) try on her dress, only to come down in tears...the dress was gappy, poorly ironed (ruining the style of the dress) and threads were exposed everywhere! Not knowing what else to do, I called a local seamstress who worked at other bridal shops; she took the dress home and was able to fix it for the most part. The other girls came in time for the dress rehearsal, and I made them try their dresses on, THANKFULLY! Two more of the dresses were in similar shape, and one even had a thread tacked straight through to the front of the dress to hold a pleat down. Now there was less than 24 hours before the wedding and AGAIN, I had to call a seamstress (from the shop my daughter got her dress) to try and save the other dresses. She came to the house WITH her machine and fixed them on the spot. Both seamstresses that fixed the dresses were appauled by the workmanship AND the cost. They said they had NEVER charged that much for bridesmaid dresses and their work NEVER had to be fixed after the fact! I called HELEN after the wedding and she would not admit she did anything wrong,,,in fact she was very rude and arrogant. Then she tried to excuse it all away saying she was swamped and had to ask for help from a relative. I told her that she should have been the one to check the work before it left the store if it is her establishment and reputation at stake. She wanted to know why I didn't have her fix the dresses that night...REALLY? With only hours until the wedding? She had done lousy work the first time and we would NEVER have given her the chance to ruin them further. We were going to pursue a small claims suit and decided she was not worth any more of our time. We feel better about losing the money knowing that we can warn others about our experience with Helen Alexander at Alexi's Bridal. Before you go to any bridal shop be sure that the owner, or seamstress is NOT Helen Alexander...I understand she has had at least one other shop in the past. My daughter found her beautiful prom gown here, along with a shawl and shoes. The dress needed to be altered, so it was to be picked up a week later. With an extremely busy schedule I forgot, still plenty of time and this was paid in full. The owner called my home and blasted me "What kind of a mother forgets to pick up prom gown?" I apologized and picked it up later in the week. The night of the prom I was adjusting the corsette and the entire dress was crooked. We made the best of it, but clearly the gown had not been altered, or altered poorly. I asked my daughter how she marked the gown that day with pins or chalk and she said she tightened the sides with her hands and said this is good. There was an additional charge of $70.00 for apparently nothing. She is a difficult woman to even speak with. We will never go there again. read more

I went to this store last week. Even though I was not buying a dress I got the owners full attention the whole time I was there. She was very kind and helpful. She has tons of dresses, brides, brides maids, flower girl... and they were all in plastic to keep dust and fingerprints off. She also had an extensive collection of tiaras, veils, and shoes to pick from. She measured my feet right there to make sure we got the right size since I my size is not one she carries in stock. It only took 3 days to come in! I am so happy I went there and plant to go again with my girls to get there dresses. read more

Went to the Salon with a friend to look for a wedding dress. I was very impressed with the the service we received. They respected my friend's requests, her budget and her opinions. Helen and her sisters were helpful, fun and so so so nice!!! My friend ended up choosing a dress from here and she just had it altered, and she couldn't be more thrilled, they have some amazing skills! Overall a great experience!!! read more

I'm not one to write bad reviews but after my experience with this place I have to. My wife purchased her dress from Helen. First visit was great. She found her perfect dress at a decent price and it went smooth. She had her dress fitted and came in to see it and it was too long and needed some adjustment. She told my wife that she wanted to adjust the sleeves so she could dance. She told her several times that we were not going to dance and to leave them as they were. When we came back the dress was too short and the sleeves were adjusted so she could dance and one side was poofy and the chest was bigger. When I spoke to Helen she instantly became confrontational and immediatly said she wouldn't give any money back before I mentioned anything about money. She said that my wife probably was looking down while she pinned the dress and that it was her fault it was too short. She hung up on me and hasn't answered since. We ended up buying another dress and had it shipped overnight to get it the day before the wedding. I must say that it was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever encountered in an industry that genarally bends over backwards to make the bride happy. We are out $600 and all we have to show for it is a hacked dress that will end up being turned into dust cloths. BRIDES BEWARE!! GO ELSEWARE!!! read more

I was in the Chandler neighborhood about a year ago and decided to poke my head in the door of Alexis Bridal, just to see if they might have a gown for me. I'm an older bride and wanted an understated gown, but I wanted a wedding gown for sure. There, I met the owner, Helen, who was entirely attentive and helpful. She invited me to come in and proceeded to pull about 5 dresses from her shelf that were elegant without being ostentatious. I think it was about the third dress I tried on that I selected...it was as though it was made for me! I decided I wanted it, but it was a good year from my wedding, and I had no currency or credit card on me, I was afraid she wouldn't hold it - but I was wrong. In fact, I didn't get back to her for a full month, and she stored the gown for me until I went back. She said she could make the necessary alterations closer to my wedding in the following year, and asked me to come to her about a month before the big day. Prior to my wedding earlier this year, I did go back to Alexis Bridal, but because of a death in the family right around a month before my wedding, I could only give Helen three weeks to alter the gown. She had to alter the bodice and the length - and I was concerned, knowing how busy she was, in the height of prom and wedding season, fearing there might not be enough time for her to complete this task because of my own tardiness. Yet, Helen was calm and gracious, despite always having other customers in the store whenever I went in for fittings - always reassuring me that the dress would be ready...and she made good on her promise. She did a beautiful job from beginning to the end - after three fittings, including the try-on the day I took it out of the store for my wedding....it was perfect. If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, there were 90 guests on the day of my wedding that attested to how lovely and appropriate this dress was for me - length, cut, and style. This is also really evident in the wedding pictures which we now have in our possession. To me, Helen is a gifted dressmaker, and a sound judge of what looks good and works for the particular person who has the pleasure of entrusting such an important event to her charge. She is a credit to her profession. I would highly recommend her and Alexis Bridal to any prospective bride, parent of a bride or groom, or prom-goer. I have not asked her yet, but I hope she does alterations in general because I would bring anything I had to her in that regard. Thanks, Helen. read more

Yikes. Trying on dresses here was a strange experience and I don't recommend it. I wish I had read the 14 "unrecommended" reviews because most of them sound spot-on, but I didn't see them until now, they're hidden for some reason!! The owner would only let me try on the dresses by putting them on me herself, always over my head, so my hair kept getting completely messed up... Not to mention she saw me half naked every time she went to put a dress on me or take one off me! I'm not a modest person by any means, but it was just so strange given that anywhere else I've gone, I've had privacy, a nice warm fitting room, and have been able to step into the dresses myself and THEN have someone zip me up/clip me up. Between trying on dresses, I had to stand in the freezing cold fitting room, in only my undies, I thought my toes might fall off! She also didn't listen to what I wanted, wouldn't let me touch the dresses (because my hands might have oils on them..) and was just very abrasive in general. Even if I had found the dress of my dreams, I could never imagine going back. The store is also very messy. There are also menacing signs in the fitting room- one saying there is a $30 fee for missed appointments, I forget what the other one said. Just a very strange experience, compared with the other lovely shops and owners I've encountered in my search for a wedding dress! read more

The worst bridal experience I have ever had. Please save yourself from being tricked by Helen (shop owner's) lies and and her lamenting. The whole time you try on dresses and do alterations she complains how her life is so hard and you are making it harder. She does not appreciate customers nor care how you look or feel, you are nothing just a paycheck for her. She overprices everything and refuses to quote you ahead of time. If you mention that her prices are vastly highly as in more than 4x what they are worth she yells are you for being an awful person. Not to mention her alterations were so terrible that she used the wrong setting on the organza, which cannot be fixed, poked holes in organza, added cap sleeves and when the were too tight informed me it was my fault the dress i picked was too heavy, left red marks and pills all over my lace and then proceeded to cut the lace saying it happens. I feel tricked, cheated and had to consign my terrible dress that I paid $600 for and then $275 in alterations for $200, which was all it was worth after Helen had her hands on it. I highly recommend going elsewhere and save your money and time. It is now 3 weeks prior to my wedding and I had to start wedding dress shopping again because the dress was unwearable. read more

I found this shop online when I was looking for shoes, so I went to check it out. The woman seemed nice but then became very abrasive. She told me she could get my shoes in 2 days which actually took a week. When you go to pay all the sudden she tacks on fees. I asked how much the shoes were & she said $75. Which was already more than I wanted to pay, but I needed them asap. Then when I was paying she said it was $20 to dye & $10 for shipping which I wasn't getting them shipped I was picking them up in the store & then tax. The total came to $111 and change. I left & was so confused. When I called her the next day to ask why I was charged shipping & tax she told me she was helping a customer & to call back. Very rude to work with & way over priced compared to other shops. I am one who likes to support local businesses but I would never recommend going there to anyone. I didn't even go back to have my shoes dyed there because I was so turned off by the way she treated me who was a buying customer. read more

My experience was nothing but a headache I wouldn't even give this place 1 star. The women Helen who works there is so rude, she literally doesn't know how to run a business. I went there with my 3 bridesmaids looking for dresses for them, we found some..she swiped the cards thru and charged extra..telling us after she charged them, she didn't know how to work the card machine to give money back, ordered the dresses WAY too big. When I called her about the dresses she was rude and hung up on me. She told one of my bridesmaids that our business was not welcomed there when she went to pick up the dresses. We had a terrible experience. It took forever for the Helen to order the dresses. We were given 3 different dates in April for arrival. When they finally came in they were the wrong color and it was 3 weeks till the wedding! Helen was horrible to deal with and she acted like it was all our fault. Stating that that's what was ordered. If she had checked the order when it came in against the slips she would have known right away the order was wrong. The color was written at the top of each girls receipts. During a phone conversation to try and rectify the situation Helen said "What you think I did this on purpose?" We finally got the dresses 4 days before the wedding. I had searched for a ball gown everywhere in Worcester and I found the perfect gown at Alexis Bridal. I needed the dress in 10 days and I had asked Helen if it was possible to do that and she said yes. Helen was very nice and gave me a price of $185 for the dress so I paid $150 up front and would pay the rest after alterations. The next day she left me a voice mail saying I needed to call her for the alterations to see if I would "agree to them." At this point I felt like I was getting screwed because I had already put money down for the dress, and now understood that she should've given me a price on the alterations when she gave me the final price the first day I came in to get it. Not only did she leave out the alterations price, she mentioned that the cups needed for the dress would cost an extra $40 which she also failed to mention weren't included in the alterations the first day. so now im thinking thats one more thing I have to add to my list. I tried on the dress at the shop with the alterations a couple days later and it fit fine. I took the dress home to try it on with my heels to make sure it all came together well. My mom had helped me try it on and noticed that the hook in the back of the dress was very obvious and did not look right considering the two edges of the fabric weren't touching, just the small hook could be seen between the two sides (exactly what I did not want). As my mom was undoing a hook in the back on the dress (which held the back and top of the dress together), it came completely off. I was so upset because this was an essential part of the dress and needed to be fixed. I called Helen immediately and she said to come in the next day. My mistake on going out there when the place wasn't even open, but it would have been nice of her to remind me of her Sunday hours but failed to do so. I had to remind her many times about when I needed the dress too (10days), when she was finished it in 3 days I was very surprised. Turns out she thought it was it needed to be done within the same week. I'd rather someone take their time on a dress I am paying a lot of money for and know when I need it by, that way I don't feel like someone rushed to alter it. I recently purchased a very nice wedding dress at Alexis Bridal. The price was reasonable. However, do not let the owner alter your dress. I was charged two hundred dollars and most of the alterations were not done. The ones that were done were haphazard and incomplete. She never even hemmed the dress as promised. I had to find a reputable seamstress a week before the wedding to try to make my dress presentable. I am thinking of taking the owner to small claims court for damages. STAY AWAY!! I was looking for a Mother of the Groom dress. After trying on a few dresses that didn't look good or didn't fit, the owner strong armed me into ordering a dress from a catalog saying that the dress would look "BEAUTIFUL" on me. After placing the order I found another dress from a very nice shop that had exactly what I was looking for. I tried to cancel my order but was told that "I bought the dress, it was mine and that she had no use for another dress". When I picked up the dress she was still trying to convince me to have the dress altered. When I refused, she still tried to convince me that it was BEAUTIFUL. I took the dress home and tried it on and decided I had made the best decision to buy a second dress from a delightful shop elsewhere. I'm now trying to sell the dress from Alexis Bridal. I originally crossed this shop off of my list to visit because of the poor reviews. After having no luck with bridesmaid dresses, I found a dress online I liked and saw they carry it. She started off by complaining about the "cheap" people who shop there. I work retail and know for a fact that a lot of people are cheap and will complain over .10 cents! I gave her the benefit of the doubt, knowing how some people can be, but I would never start complaining about customers to a stranger shopping there. I showed her the dresses I liked in her book and she told me she had them, but she kept showing me all of these dresses and stopping at ones she really liked, that I didn't. I stayed polite to not offend her and said that they were not what I was looking for. After every dress she showed me that I wasn't interested in. She would say, "but it's your wedding." It's like the review about tiaras and how the customer did not want them, but she kept trying to push them on her because it was what the owner liked. She seems to only have one point of view, and that's hers. If you don't agree...her response is that, "it's your wedding".. I was feeling rushed about ordering my dresses in time and she freaked me out that I was pushing it too close, almost like I didn't have enough time. I know 5 months is pressing it, but every shop I've heard from and sensed my concern, they have honestly told me that I am okay, but should decide within the next week or two to be safe. I couldn't wait to leave because she wouldn't stop talking and complaining. read more
