I thought I was going to have to get down to Miami (sort of like I get down to Kool & The Gang) to try the really amazing Caribbean and Latin food... but I found some great versions of them up here in Tampa, and this was at the very top of my list. This remains the best Haitian food I've ever had, even now that I've tried the best ones in Miami (half a dozen of them, in fact), and several in other parts of the country. We're talking about some of the most miraculous food you'll ever eat. It's not dirt cheap but it's not expensive and portions are huge. You'll be addicted as soon as you try those legumes, rife with eggplant, which are the number one dish for me. But absolutely everything they make is off the charts beautiful. It would be my first destination for food when I come back to Tampa, and not just for the perfect food but for the beautiful murals on the wall and for the wonderful service as well. He was so curious and tickled about how I found his place, but I'm so glad that I did. This is yet another example of how wonderful Yelp can be when it's done right and used right. Saddens me to write this cause I want my people to win, but at this point, Alez is embarrassing Haitian cuisine to be selling this mess. I bought a large diri kole pwa rouge ak koden (rice and peas with fried turkey) and the rice was soooo dry and tasteless. The turkey was ok but it wasn't the most flavorful as it usually is. My red flag was the sauce! Before paying I held it and asked them if this is the sauce they make and they said yes- but it was just the broth from the meat they cooked. They either poured it directly into the cup or attempted to make a sauce with it and tomato paste but failed miserably. Haitian cuisine is like no other and this restaurant continues to get more terrible overtime. I've been eating here since 2015 and the food taste is currently at its worst. I wasted $14 because I could only eat like 4 bites of it- I lost my appetite for the whole day and gotta reset my taste palette. Im gonna have to either re-cook/re-vamp it or just take my L and throw it out. The last management made tolerable food to eat when you crave Haitian food but Kreyol Delight is closed or something, this new management is just terrible. First time here! Stopped by for some Haitian food on their Independence Day. Kreyol Delight wasn't open for their normal hours so I went with what I thought was the next best option. I wanted the oxtail but they didn't have it so I opted for the griot and rice. It was overall a solid meal but I feel like the griot was fried a little hard and was kind of missing that crispy outside but soft in that the dish is known for. The rice was very good. I was a little sad that the dish wasn't served with plantains for the price. All in all, I'd definitely return in a pinch. The staff was nice and the place was clean. Warm friendly staff. This place so welcoming. A group of friends and myself initially entered to purchase T-Vice tickets for the All White Party that was occuring that night. After a quick smell we decided to have a few quick snacks before we departed. They have the greatest stuffed Haitian patties I've ever tasted outside of south Florida. The patties were light, flacky, buttery, and loaded with meat and flavor. They also carried Kremas ( kinda like a pina colada/egg nog - but thicker). You coud purchae it by the cup or bottle. They are not cheap with the serving sizes - huge. But they don't short change you on the flavor. Food was so good we actually started dancing in the dining room. We were so ready for the great night we had. Later that night they transformed the restaurant to a great dance hall. I stopped in for lunch, and for less than $9, I got four perfectly crispy, spicy chicken drumsticks, a huge portion of rice and beans, a couple fried plantains, and seriously tasty pikliz. OMG. Add the pikliz to the rice and beans for a little heaven. I really want to return to try the oxtail, goat and fried pork, but I don't know if I'll be able to resist the fried chicken! Is my grandma in there??!!! I am pretty picky when it comes to my Haitian cuisine. I myself am a great cook because I learned from my grandma...she Can cook her butt off! So I didn't have too great of expectations. Also because I'm not from the area, I went there on a whim. Holy pikliz! My husband and I both ordered our own plates. I have goat in sauce, he had fried pork. Both plates came with white rice and sweet pea sauce. As an appetizer we had the fritay platter. Was recommended here to get my feet wet for Haitian food. Thankfully I was not disappointed. I've had the fried goat and the fried turkey and both were excellent. Since I like food that has a spicy kick, I very much like the piklits (not sure if my spelling is right) but it's a great additive to help give a lil spicy content to the meal. Rice and peas were very tasty and the fried plantain comes in handy as well. This will definitely be my go to spot for Haitian food. Went in around 1:40 on 6/18/17 with a family of 7 (4 adults, 2 kids and 1 toddler) and ordered the all you can eat for 5 people and 1 seperate meal for one of the kids. To my surprise nothing on the buffet line was prepared although the buffet line starts at 1-4pm. After nearly 20 mins I asked a guy by the name of David who was prepping the buffet line what time do you guys open? His response was 1 pm. Finally by nearly 2:20 with the buffet line still not ready I decided to cancel my order and take my business elsewhere. Although online posting stated free drinks and refills David attempted to charge me for water yes water!!! I was so excited to learn that, finally, a Haitian restaurant popped up in Tampa. I first tried Haitian cuisine in West Palm Beach, from a close friend who is Haitian. Her sisters and her would cook up some of the best food I have ever had in my entire life. Haitian food is hands down my favorite food of all. Alez is an awesome place. I have been searching for a delicious Caribbean restaurant and finally found one. I can't believe I didn't discover it sooner. This was my first time using UberEATS. I placed an order through the app and got an update on each step (order received, preparing order, courier on the way with food, delivered, etc.). I ordered beef w/vegetables (beef tenderized with eggplants, chayote, carrots, watercress cabbage, and spinach. Served w/a side of plantains and a side of rice and bean juices. The food was impressive, but I would have liked more than one piece of beef for a $10 dish. All of the spices came together nicely. I was pleased with the outcome although if you look at the picture, there was only one lonely piece of beef in the corner. Hence, 4/5 stars. I am excited to try the curried goat, oxtail, and red snapper. I have high expectations for those dishes because my beef w/vegetables was incredibly flavorful.
