Oxtail Dinner Special with collard green
    Juanita S.

Was craving oxtails one Sunday afternoon and lucked up on this spot! It's been about 5-6 years since I've last been here but I remembered them to be be great and this visit did not disappoint! You have the option to call in your order, which is recommended since the inside space is limited. We decided to actually go in and take a look at the impressive menu on the wall. Just a side note, most Caribbean restaurants run out of oxtail by noon! The Island Crew not only had a plentiful amount in the afternoon, around 4, but they did not skimp on the potions! If you take a look at the picture, I received an unheard of amount! Gravy everywhere and the oxtail was LEAN- another plus! Don't forget to check out the banana pudding in the refrigerator! Another plus. We ordered the conch fritters as well and they tasted like we were on vacation! Don't sleep on this Tampa gem!

TLDR: Vegan Devil crab!!! Do it! Best jerk chicken in Tampa & complimentary water ice. We first tried island crew back when it was a food truck & I am so thankful they are still sharing this amazing food now at a new more permanent location. We drove 40mins to have dinner here tonight & it was so worth it. Solid portion size & super friendly service. Plenty of vegan options & the flavors are unmatched. Spicy jerk chicken & Cajun rice with cabbage, yummm. My husband had the chicken curry with red beans & rice, I of course tried it & man, it was so good. Parking can be limited as it's a popular dining option on a Saturday night, but do not let that deter you. It's a must try!!! This food smelled so good we couldn't even wait to take a picture before digging in.

You must wear your masks in order to come in. This is a 6 feet social distance restaurant so that everyone will stay clear of the Coronavirus When placing an order, you will receive a free icee. Yummy! 5 stars for sure. I had a taste for conch salad and conch fritters, so I found this place on Yelp. It's not to far from my daughter's house, so I was happy about that. Let me tell you, my grandmommy is from the Bahamas and when I tell you this taste like her conch salad and conch fritters, Lordy :-). I love Caribbean food and since that's what my family cooks a lot, I was definitely glad I stopped here. Next time, I'll select everything I ordered and will order Mac and cheese and shrimp and grits.

Of all the Caribbean cuisine establishments I have been too in Tampa (there aren't many), I received the best customer service here, thanks to the restaurant owner's son,Junior. What a pleasant young man! A casual dining spot in a strip plaza. The menu prices are actually reasonable as well. I opted to try the oxtail with brown rice and plantains while the hubs had the jerk pork with cabbage. We also ordered a side of Mac n cheese. I've had better jerk pork so that wasn't my fave. But everything was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed the oxtail; tender, flavorful and it was a great portion size. The Mac n cheese was delicious as well. Will order again! To top it off, they offer a free scoop of Mango Italian Ice, which was to die for. So refreshing. I will definitely try them again!

I've only been here once for take-out, but this is my new favorite hidden gem in my neighborhood. Located in a strip mall near the Amscot, there was plenty of parking available on a Sunday. Since I had looked at people's pictures of the menu ahead of time, I knew exactly what I wanted to order: the curry chicken with cabbage and rice and peas. The curry chicken came with three generous on-bone hunks of chicken in a flavorful but not too spicy sauce with a couple of potatoes. The meat was tender and fell off the bone. Huge portions of rice and cabbage accompanied it, and it was easily enough for two meals. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the food was ready. The meal was very reasonably priced and came with a fountain soda. Both people working were extremely friendly and nice, and when I saw them scooping a frozen dessert and inquired about it, one of the workers gave me a huge scoop of their mango Italian ice to try - for free - yum! I can't wait to go back and try more items on their menu.

They have over 300 artisanal, imported and domestic cheeses, I find something new every time I go! The ambiance is what makes it special to locals, it feels like stepping into a traditional Italian market and it's hard to find elsewhere in Tampa. Definitely a staple for St. Pete! The market is almost always busy, so go right when they open or later in the afternoon on weekdays or you'll be standing shoulder to shoulder and wait 15 to 30 minutes, but honestly that time is perfect for browsing everything! My go to orders are the Mortadella Pistachio and the Fig & Pig. They are $12 each, and yes a bit pricey but the freshness and quality make it worth it.

Wow! What a fun place to check out. There's ample parking. A lot of photo ops outside, some picnic…read moretables. So much bustle. So many people. You walk in and Theres a check out area. A fresh produce, meat, fish, sausage, pickled olives, section. You walk further down and Theres the grab and go food section. Then to the left you have wine and cheese. You go further in, and Theres a fancy cheese section. Unfortunately they don't give small amounts of cheeses and cut it for you. But you can buy some really good cheeses here. Then you go back to the very narrow hallway, and Theres a ton of coffee on the left. I just got into coffee and am a coffee snob. I noticed there was a "greasy" looking bean. Which just means it's well past its freshness. The price of bean actually isnt that bad. And they offer a lot of varieties. We bought two, Guatemala and organic Mexico. I wanted to try it out before writing this review. The Guatemala one was light, faint. The Mexico was a bit deeper flavor. I would recommend to management to better advertise the coffee bean so the product moves and stays fresh, or maybe move it to a different section where people can feel comfortable getting it. It gets so crowded in the hallway. I would leave the hallway was a grab and go area. You keep walking down and you have the coffee shop to the right, and a small bread stand to the left. Of course we got coffee. Theres a small area of seating to get coffee for there. Theres a big roaster to give the appearance that they roast their own coffee but I believe it's just for decoration. Fiancé got a cappuccino. It was okay. He normally doesn't get coffee with too much milk but the waitress said there was 3 shots of espresso in there. I would say it didn't taste like 3 shots. It taste like coffee with 90% milk. And it should be told to customers that a cappuccino there is more milk with coffee. I got the con panno. Which is espresso with whipped cream. I'm not sure if the whip cream they use is fresh, or if it's super sweetened, but my coffee was sweet. It was thick which I like but I didn't like whatever sweetener they used. But I'd probably order a macchiato if I ever came back so I could taste the coffee. On the other side of the coffee shop is the sandwiches and prepared food that you order. Sandwiches are HUGE. Fiancé had the #1 with all the fixings. It was nice but if you don't like soggy sandwiches, you can ask for no veggies. Which we would do next time. I had the 7, no sun-dried tomatoes and no veggies. It was so good. The mozzerella was very fresh! If you walk past that you have the dried cured meat, and down a hallway to the right you'll find dried pasta and fresh pasta. The fresh pasta looked so good. I wished we lived in the area so I could try. You head back the other way and pass the outdoor seating and Theres also a place for you to check out you grocery/sandwiches. Right next to that section you have the pantry area of canned fish, pickled things, olive oil. Then Theres the bread and pastry area. We only had time to see these and no time to see what other stores they had or walk around. But I'd definitely come back to check those out.

Unfortunately, after my most recent experience, I won't be returning. I stopped in around 3:00 p.m. and was happy to see it wasn't busy. I went to the deli counter, waited for someone to serve me, ordered my chicken salad, grabbed a soda and chips, and headed to the open register. As I walked up, the cashier called another customer over ahead of me. I waited while he spent several minutes deciding whether to pay cash or by card because of the 4% card fee. I continued standing there with my three items, to the point that I actually set them down and debated walking out. Then, instead of helping me, the cashier motioned for an entire family to come to the registereven though I had been standing there waiting before they arrived. After that, she waved over another customer, and I had to wait while a mother and her two teenagers decided which desserts they wanted. Again, I stood there patiently. When it was finally my turn, there was no greeting, no "thank you for waiting," nothing. The first thing I was asked was, "Do you have a pickup order?" I said no. She then motioned for my chicken salad container, saying she needed it. I placed it on the scale and set my other items on the counter. The cashier then asked, "Are you okay?" I simply shook my head because, honestly, I wasn't. Instead of recognizing why I was frustrated, she continued talking, making comments, and escalating the interaction rather than simply ringing me up. At that point, I asked, "Do you want to argue? Do you want me to go back and forth with you?" I then asked who the manager was. She pointed to a woman beside her, who identified herself as the owner. I asked if she could ring me up instead. Even then, the cashier continued making comments. It was only after she continued engaging me that my voice became louder in response. Rather than addressing the repeated comments from her employee or asking what had happened, the owner immediately said, "Do not raise your voice at my employee." That response was disappointing. There was no concern for the customer experience, no apology for repeatedly being skipped in line, and no attempt to resolve the situation. There was also no acknowledgment that the interaction had been escalated by the cashier's continued remarks before I ever raised my voice. The irony is that I have spent a significant amount of money catering from Frankie's Deli over the years because my customers love the food. Good food will bring people in once. Great customer service keeps them coming back. Sadly, this experience ended that relationship for me. There are plenty of places with great food, but respect and customer service matter just as much. One final thought: this is Florida not NY. Hospitality goes a long way. The aggressive, dismissive attitude I experienced isn't what I expect when supporting a local business. I won't be back.
