On a recent quick-getaway weekend down here with another couple, we popped in around lunchtime to grab some food items to take with us over to the cidery. My wife and I decided to split two sandwiches...the Roast Beast (on baguette) and the Upper Haight (egg salad on multigrain). The staff is always welcoming and asking more about you as an individual. They have shown concern about the travels of the individual during snow storms and severe winter weather. The food is always fresh, from the sandwiches to the pasta salad, beet salads, etc. They provide unique food options that are a delightful and fresh! Service was incredibly fast, friendly and helpful with menu choices. Chicken on the salads was seasoned very well in a mix of wonderful and creative ingredients. The Turkey salad was very flavorful and perfect texture. Side salads such as the beet and the pistachio farfalle were flavorful but subtle and not overwhelming for the main proteins. There are several options of good eats that will satisfy any picky eater, and fulfill their appetite. This was my first time here and I am beyond thrilled that I found this little joint. They have a case filled with fresh prepared dishes, including chicken salad, egg salad, and beet salad (as pictured), along with other delicious dishes that I will come back for soon. They also have several natural and made gluten-free options, including some of their treats such as muffins and shortbread. They have the BEST blondie I've ever had! Yum. We were in town for a few hours and wanted to grab some food between ciders next door. This is a cute little shop with fresh to-go food. Loved the egg salad... one of my favorites for sure. Their other proteins were good as well including turkey meatloaf and chicken salad which were the ones we tried. Friendliest people ever inside. Learned they have been open for about 10 years! We definitely would recommend it here for a quick bite. Almost everything they serve is cold though (except maybe soup?) SUCH a cute restaurant! Talk about small town, local living at its finest. Tucked behind an historical house smack in the heart of Granville, Alfie's has a BEAUTIFUL, large outdoor patio seating area. There's some many spaces to sit outside, some on different levels; simple, but beautiful flowers and plants all around just scream "summer living!" Note: the inside space is very small, like holds two super small two-top tables, so I imagine the colder weather means mostly take-out and to-go orders. The offerings are well rounded. Alfie's is a deli setting, in that they have cold pasta dishes and salads in giant serving bowls in the display case. Sandwiches are on the physical laminated menu. Breads, bags of pasta, pastries, etc. line the countertop area. I picked the V.W. sandwich and it was splendid! The little sweet pop from the homemade fig jam mixed with the savory turkey and brie cheese, dang it was so satisfying! I swapped whole wheat bread for the baguette, and it was soft and chewy, just what I was hoping for. I got a delivered-that-morning fresh strawberry baked donut from a one-woman home bakery making healthy baked donuts that are under 230 calories each, and selling them at a few places around town - one of them being Alfie's. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had! Absolutely delish and very affordable for the quality of the products ($8). Service was awesome and everyone was incredibly welcoming and kind. Alfies is wonderful. They are always exceptionally kind and the food is good and predictable every time. The service is very fast, and friendly. The ambiance is good- the only thing is- I wish they had indoor seating/ more space. They're doing great with the space they have, but I'm hoping one day they'll open a restaurant, not just a grab and go cafe. Although, the outdoor seating is great in the warmer months. I've had sandwiches, salads, lemonade, the $14 pb&j (it's not actually $14 but it is around $5 which still seems steep for a pb&j, especially when I usually have two kids with me. So $10 for them to eat pb&j just isn't worth it to me). Everything I've had is yummy, aside from the egg salad. The pricing seems a little high. However, you do get what you pay for- fresh ingredients, healthy food, fast and kind service. It's definitely a treat oh, and the brownies are delicious and huge! read more

There's nothing I love more than a little picture perfect cafe that serves only healthy, fresh, homemade eats. That is Alfie's in a nutshell. The food is incredible, the staff were so friendly, and the vibe is cozy, bright, and warm. I got a killer turkey sandwich and mint lemonade-- made from scratch. My sister and I stumbled upon Alfies during a weekend trip to the area. Okay, I guess i am a statistical outlier because i found this place memorable only because it is in my past, not my future. Warning!!! A good thing to note is that gratuity is already included in the menu price... A bad point is that the ipad bill at checkout still offers the opportunity to add an additional15, 25% tip, which if you didn't notice it in the menu, effectively doubles the unwarranted tip. We didn't want to tip anyway, based on the snarky and even condescending attitude of the proprietor. My turky meatloaf was dry, cold, and bland. The food was ok but I don't need to spend time on that. Because this place gets a 1 based on the rude owner. We stopped by on a Saturday where he was clearly experiencing an unexpected Saturday rush. I get it...but there's no need to huff and puff and be dramatically rude to everyone in line to order. He even tried to tell us we didn't pay him when he brought our food out and we were like um ya we did, remember when you took our order and swiped our card? Lunch at Alfie's today was simply spectacular. We tried eight different dishes and everyone was perfect. Make sure and get the hummus cause a little bit of it goes with everything else you will eat. Do not forget to add one of the almond cookies if they have them to finish and you won't be sorry with the lemonade either. This a great find in Granville that is off the typical path. I have been several times and enjoy the "Sam I Am" sandwich. There are several outside tables and the provide blankets for the early fall mornings. The ingredients are always fresh and organic. Alfie's is a go-to stop whenever I'm in Granville. My boyfriend and I were still so full from breakfast, but we were only in Granville for a few hours and knew we had to at least split one thing here. I love what these guys are doing, and wish there were more spots like this. They make everything from scratch, and use really fresh ingredients. We split their sweet potato quinoa chili and it had such amazing flavor. It was finally a crisp, cold fall morning and chili was just what the doctor ordered for the both of us.
