Food has always been amazing, we come all the way from Fresno because their carnitas are always so fresh. However some of their employees need better customer service, I went in 4/6/26 at 2:40 pm were I was being helped out by Carmen and there were no carnitas which is understandable being lunch hour just passed however when I asked her will you be putting out more any time soon she said very cold "no till tomorrow" and continued to charge me 2 tacos I had ordered for my dad. About 2 weeks prior we had came again and once again they were out of cueritos and once again I asked will you be putting more out and they said no. I still ordered carnitas and sat down to ate which took no more than 15-20 minutes I noticed as I was leaving a fresh batch of cueritos came out, I was disappointed because had they said "we don't have any at the moment but in about 20 minutes we'll have more" versus "no" I would've waited to actually pay what I came for being we come from Fresno instead of buying just to buy so the trip doesn't go to waste. read more

It was noisy and the acrylic germ protectors were not good for hearing the soft spoken employee ask me questions. I had to ask her to repeat everything. Alfonso's is a selma staple. And in a town with TOOOOOOO many Mexican restaurants they hold their own. I would accredit that to freshness. This place literally hangs hogs and peels all of the porky pig goodness off down to the bone lol. So yeah they make good carnitas obviously and chiccarrones (I slaughtered that spelling (pun not intended) sorry) And not to mention GREAT Menudo. So this place used to be great but not anymore. Beans and rice have no flavor. The meat is soft but from sitting in liquid under a heat lamp all day. Said no cilantro or onions and she packed it in because she wasn't paying attention she was too busy gossiping with an employee about another employee abusing their breaks. Maybe they should focus more on customer service and seasoning their food! Portions too! The burrito was all meat and almost no beans. The meat was on one side of the burrito not mixed in with the rest of the ingredients. As a chef myself I expected this place to have it together but they are far from it. Small. Average. Just for something quick and nothing fancy. The workers are straight to the point people not rushing type but serious, nothing bad about that. They're quick and know what they're doing. Tacos are 1.25$, Burritos are 3.50$ and the Tortas are the same price. Okay the Torta was average but not bad. The meat was dry and needed more flavor. 8/11/19 My family and I have been coming here for YEARS and I can honestly say, they hands down have the best barbacoa & carnitas. Although I will add that somedays their carnitas will taste VERY salty or underseasoned. Today though, they were both very very good. I have never tried their asada, so I bought a single asada taco and was not a fan at all....it tasted like boiled meat. I don't know how to describe it but if you are looking for amazing asada tacos, this isn't the place to get them. I also ordered to go cups of rice and beans and I was horribly disgusted. The beans and rice both lacked flavor and tasted so so burnt from being in the metal cambros under the heat lamps. The rice was very dry as well and you could see grains of rice that were indeed blackish brown from being burnt to the sides of the pan. The beans also were sitting in there so long that a thick layer was dried on the cambro. Not a good taste at all. I did order the meat, tortillas & drinks in one transaction and forgot to get the beans and rice and sent my husband. The first cashier was very nice but left on break and the second cashier was very dry and rude. Alfonso's needs to step up the customer service...it's not okay to behave that way to customers just because you are overwhelmed and busy. I was honestly more on the disappointed side today with my visit. If I return, it will only be for the carnitas & barbacoa early in the AM to avoid upset workers & the lunch rush. read more

The food was bland. I was also verbally assaulted by another customer after letting her know she stepped in front of me In line and she continued to purchase her food and cashier continued to take her payment. It stunk like shit or spoiled meat. I was referred by a coworker of T-Mobile in kingsburg and he says he has been going there since he was a child and has never experienced that. I would have appreciated if the cashier would have handled the situation better. I am ver disappointed. I loved this place, usually because they have torta bread that I can purchase. Yesterday, I bought I bag around 3pm came home and mad a torta for my son and I. I kept it in the fridge over night. I today I get a couple out to make them and the three at the bottom are completely molded! Big green mold spots! I call the restaurant told then what happened, they didn't even bother to apologize, not to mention the disregard I was treated with. Like, I was doing something wrong by telling them there was something wrong with their bread. Yes, they did offer me my money back but that not the point. My son and I could have gotten sick. It is the restaurants responsibility to make sure it is safe for there consumer. NEVER going back there and I will definitely warn family and friends. read more

I would order burritos all the time from them and recently I just started buying the carne to go and making burritos w/it at home and ate it as I went. Sometimes the staff are very rude to customers, especially this kind of old lady that works there, seems like she's always in a bad mood and sometimes answers kind of mad. I dont know why Alfonso the owner hires this kind of people that dont give good customer service. About the food I only like buche and barbacoa, I've tried everything else and lacks of flavor especially the asada and the carnitas, asada tastes like steamed beef and carnitas are way too dry on the mouth. Also I dont like how they prepare the burritos cause they prepare them and then put it on the microwave for the tortilla to warm up instead of heating it on a hot plank or stove. It does get a bit busy during the lunch hour so I try to beat the rush before or after. It's still not a very long wait.
