    Proper Burger

The best place for Meat! Friendly staff and great prices. Their Proper Burger is delicious...and the fries....are like old school McDonald's!, fried in Tallow. YUM

This place is the best! They have an amazing selection of meats! We absolutely love the sausage. The guys who work in there are kind and eager to help! The space is well organized and can fit a few people.

So yeah, this is worth the hype waaaay better than doghouse. Although doghouse has bigger size I guess and the fries at doghouse are better even tho- even tho I know for a fact that the fries at doghouse are frozen haha either way hella seasoning. We got the tri tip and the chicken bacon ranch. Tots and fries. Tri tip was really good, obviously not smoked like doghouse but the flavor and quality of meat is just better. You have to try it to believe it haha. But like I said, the size of it is smaller and it doesn't have the smoky flavor. So this is a loss if you MUST have that smoky flavor. Chicken bacon ranch was really good too. This one was filled with so much goodies it was spilling out of the Sammy. Tots and fries are good, but taste better at doghouse. I would say this is a winner over doghouse. But if you MUST have bigger portions, smoky meat, and better tasting fries, you should go to doghouse.

The staff is extremely nice! They are pretty fast. The burger flavor was delicious, although my bread was a little dry. I might have just gotten a one off but i definitely would like to go back and try it again! I will definitely return!

Decided to try the Meat Up when we made a visit to their neighbor, Ampersand. Right off the bat, it looked like they were super lively with plenty of outdoor seating! We got the pastrami sandwich which is a Friday special for $13 and large fries for $5. Very generous portions of fries and meat! The pastrami was flavorful and very juicy. The mustard offered a nice balance, the bread was soft, and the Swiss cheese are perfectly melted. The fries were also great- I really enjoyed their BBQ sauce. Great experience, would definitely come back.

Great service. I went for short ribs, and they had a few types. Very helpful staff, friendly and knowledgeable. Nice atmosphere. Clean and organized. I can't wait to go back, again.

Tried the daily special which was the cheeseburger and at first I was a little hesitant because it only came with cheddar cheese and dijonaise but let me tell you it was fantastic just like that! The tater tots were crispy and not overly seasoned and the macaroni salad was pretty yummy and had a little zest to it. I wasn't a fan of the potato salad it lacked salt. I'm am a ranch lover and it wasn't bad but definitely not one of my favorites. It had like a tang to it that I didn't care for. I heard great things about the tri tip sandwich and will definitely be going back to try it!

Beef chorizo in arepas fried in beef tallow.

Love The Meat Up! My favorite days are Tuesday for the beef dip, Wednesday for the perfect cheeseburger, and Friday is pastrami day. They slice the meat thin, more like shredded. Always perfect every time. The staff are always welcoming and really enjoy working there. I had purchased their beef chorizo and went back for more. I made empanadas and arepas using the chorizo and fried them in Brandt Beef Tallow that they sell. It truly adds flavor and makes the food extra crispy. I'm definitely a regular there!

So I finally tried this place after hearing about it for quite a while. I don't wanna take their streak off of having almost 5 stars, but I will give you my opinion. My husband and I ordered the tri-tip. We split it along with tater tots. The tri-tip is cut into very thick pieces my half of my tri-tip sandwich the meat had long strands of collagen that I had to pull out. I asked if they can cut my tri-tip slices thinner, but they said no that I would love it. Well, the tri-tip is good if you eat it alone without the bun, but eating it with a bun it becomes a little tough trying to bite it. The tater tots were delicious. I'll have to say that I do wanna give this place a second try I do wanna try the shredded beef sandwich next. I will have to mention also that my husband and I had to take our food into Starbucks because the flies were just unbearable.

This was my second time here and my second time inhaling the meat packed Tri-tip BBQ sandwich before I could take a photo! The staff are always so attentive and nice. I was close to buying some of the uncooked tri-tip or cooked deli meats that were displayed in the cases-- their refrigerated product displays are well stocked, full of tantalizing meats and even some side dishes! There are no chairs inside the store, but right outside are a couple large picnic tables if you want to immediately enjoy those hot tallow fries!

The Meat Up was def a choice pic dropped in to pick up dinner if was great to see such high-quality meats available. The selection was impressive and everything was sealed and ready to go. While the prices are a bit on the higher side, the premium grade of meat makes it worth it. They also have a deli counter with daily specials. One of their staples is the tri-tip sandwich which is served daily. You can choose between fries or tots as a side and tots win every time. They were perfectly cooked. The tri-tip itself came with sauce already on it. While it didn't have a smoky flavor, it was well-seasoned and tasted pretty good. The portion of meat wasn't overly generous though. I had more bread than meat but I'm sure you can pay for extra if you want a heartier sandwich. The Meat Up is located in a clean, well-trafficked area with a steady flow of customers. It serves the community well and is a great spot to stop in for lunch or pick up some quality meat for your next barbecue.

Brats in natural casing cooked at home

We've gotten sandwiches over the years, and they're good, but this review is about the bratwursts in natural casing. They come four in a pack and they're rather big. Simmer in medium low sauce pan covered with about a 1/2 cup of water for 15 minutes. Turning occasionally. When most of the water is gone, add oil or butter, turn heat to medium and turn every couple minutes until you get the color you like. These sausages came out perfect. Very juicy and nailed the German seasoning. These were the best brats we've had in a long time.

If I could give more than five stars, I would. This place has become a regular part of my routine, and every visit is a reminder of why I keep coming back. The steaks? Absolutely divine--perfectly marbled, and consistently delicious. You can tell there's real passion behind the quality of the meat. But let me talk about the French fries--they are on another level. Crispy, golden, and seasoned just right. Every bite takes me straight back to childhood, when fries tasted like magic and nothing else mattered. They're nostalgic, comforting, and simply superior to anything else around. Did I mention they are cooked in beef tallow To top it all off, the staff is incredible!!!! Warm, attentive, and genuinely kind--always making you feel welcome and appreciated with a Hi Chef It's rare to find a place that nails the food and the experience, but they do it effortlessly here!!

Philly Cheesesteak- meat is high quality, the cheese is pretty standard and the bread/bun falls short.

    Do you sell boudin?

No we don’t sorry. We sell lots of other sausages though.

Hi do you sell duck and pheasant?

Hi Elisa…we don’t currently have duck or pheasant in store but we can bring it in as a special order. If you call the shop we can give you some pricing and size of the items you are looking for. Thanks

Is your meat grass feed and grass finished?

The majority of our beef is grass fed and grain finished. We do always have organic grass fed/finished ground beef and grass fed/finished NY steaks in store. We also have access, through our processing facility, to other grass finished options, but…

We thought we'd give it a shot and we're super excited to try it. I came in right before closing and got the family meal. I was bummed to find out that it includes no barbecue sauce you have to buy separate sides of barbecue sauce (never been to a barbecue place that charges for sauce ever.) in the Wednesday family meal it comes with tri-tip which they charge you $1.50 slicing fee ( never heard of that either) for for our large side we chose cowboy beans which were actually pretty good. They were a little on the spicy side my kids said but I thought they were great. We also opted to get a large side of their mac and cheese which had bacon and to be honest was kind of bland. Our kids didn't like it even though it looked great. You also get a 2 l of soda but the only options are Coke or diet Coke. The meal smelt super good on the way home but once we got it open and started serving it, noticed that the meat was super chewy and really stringy even though the smoke flavor tasted really good. Like some previous reviews on their meal deal have mentioned, It was almost inedible. I don't know if the tri tip that they are giving you as a discount in there family meal is leftover bad cuts or stuff that's just been sitting out simmering and water all day. We thought it sounded like a great deal, but we should have specifically read the reviews about the family meal deal for Wednesdays because we were pretty disappointed. We may try the spot for other a la carte options, but we'll skip the Wednesday family meal deal for sure next time.
