    Complimentary chips and salsa
    Joy S.

We had read several positive reviews of this little place and decided to give it a try as we were going through. We started out with complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa had just a bit of kick to it. We were disappointed that they were out of chicken fried steak. The Mexican version of this classic had been recommended in many reviews. Instead, we ordered a chicken fajita plate to share and some ala carte enchiladas and a taco. My cheese enchilada was ok, but seemed a little skimpy on the cheese. The green sauce wasn't the most flavorful either. My husband really enjoyed his beef taco and the chicken enchilada with red sauce though. The fajitas were terrific. The chicken was tender and full of flavor. The pepper and onion strips were cooked just right with a tiny bit of crunch. It came with a scoop of guacamole, rice, beans, sour cream, some cut up pepper pieces that we assumed were jalapenos, and two tortillas. Our server was very apologetic about the chicken fried steak and made some other recommendations for us. I'd love to go back some day and try that steak!

Passing through and was lucky to meet up for lunch with my nephew. I'm big on chips and salsa and Alfredo's did not disappoint. We ate 4 bowls of it. Yum. They had Dr Pepper which was an added bonus. Living in CA Dr Pepper is not always on the menu. Thank you Alfredo's and thank you TX for my DP. I had a cheese enchilada and taco combo. My mouth and tummy were very happy with this selection. My husband had beef tips with peppers, rice and beans. He said it was very good. My nephew had a steak quesadilla with rice and beans. Also a hit. The service was also great. The waitress made sure we got the hook up on salsa and never let us run out of DP! Great experience.

Very busy but very worth it! Let's face there isn't much in Pecos, but if you want great Mexican then, this is it. Chips and salsa were good & so fresh. I had the steak and my husband had the beef tips. Everything from the meat to the guacamole was very tasty. Some of the best tortillas! Service was incredible. We had the sweetest waiter. You have to try this place. Do not pass it up.

Well be aware that there are not many options in town. I expected more ... The place is very dirty. The floor is vey old and is all broken plus dirty. Part of the ceiling paint is falling down and it is on top of the tables. Avoid using the bathrooms very dirty too. I washed my hands and waited till I got back to my hotel room. The food is ok. Cheeseburger was good. Beef fajitas was good. Soft shell tacos were greasy and Had no taste. It's expensive too! This city is dirty and expensive everywhere! Keep going!

Alfredo's doesn't look like much, but it is a good spot for some local Tex-Mex. Their chips & salsa is delicious--pretty spicy salsa too! I ordered the fajita plate, and it was very good. I had the chicken/steak combo and the meat was done perfectly, along with the rice. The only downer here is the service, but it is pretty typical for a small town, and the servers were friendly.

Hands down the best Mexican food in Pecos! Everything was fresh and tasted homemade. The staff was very attentive and everything came out very promptly. I will definitely be eating here again

Food was decent. I know prices are going up; but, a lil pricey for the quality and ambiance.

Food was pretty good. Salsa is really good. The fajitas were done properly. Looks like you can dine in here but we had ours to go.

Traveling through Pecos, found great food and great service. Lunch combo more food than we could eat for under $10.00.

Pretty quick and very polite. About 5 years back I worked in a nearby gas plant. I have now returned to work in drilling. I would come hear and order Chicken Enchiladas Verdes and it was really good. It was hot though, but I really liked hot food. I am Cajun, so to give you an idea, it was hotter than Cajun food and almost as hot as Thai medium heat. Well, first impressions. I am pretty sure it didn't have yellow cheese on it last time. First bite, wow! Not as hot as it used to be, but still has a nice spice, which is good. I was a little concerns I wouldn't be able to handle it. The sauce now has a smoother creaminess to it and the chicken is moist and tender. The rice and refried beans were good as well. Well, that was delicious. If you haven't figured out, as I was eating, I was reviewing and typing. It's a winner. Can't tell you about the rest of the menu yet, but first visit back and the Chicken Enchiladas Verdes is a keeper, as my wife would say when I cook something she enjoys and wants me to cook again. As for the ambiance, this is a small mom and pop restaurant. Lots of laughs and smiles and friendly staff. One last thing, it was $14.05 with a tea, not including the tip of course.

But, in all fairness, I've eaten at no fewer than 200 different Tex-Mex restaurants in my lifetime. First, as one reviewer stated, this is very much a New Mexican-style restaurant, although they try to get there with the Tex-Mex. What does this mean? Quite simply, this place uses red sauce (vs. chili gravy) for enchiladas. It also offers stacked enchiladas with an egg placed on top, which is true New Mexican. Beyond that, the menu is quite varied. I'll start with my cheese enchiladas with red sauce. The sauce was spicy as hell, which was wonderful. The enchiladas themselves were a disappointment because they used two corn tortillas to roll them with the smallest pinch of cheese I've experienced in a while. -- I'm not sure about my dad's chile relleno and beef enchilada with green sauce, but he really enjoyed both. The rice and beans were pretty much par for the course. Not bad but nothing special. The salsa here is phenomenal. There's just enough onion and cilantro to make it memorable. It's served cold, which is a must for me, and it has some serious bite. Service here is really friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is old school: cheap paneling and trite "Mexican" decor. The men's bathroom is almost as dark as a movie theater. I don't get to this area often, but I would certainly eat here again any time I do.

The portion was smaller than I expected, but the flavor didn't disappoint. The pork was tender, and the green chile sauce had a deep, rich taste that reflected hours of slow cooking. It carried more heat than my palate prefers, but spice lovers would likely appreciate it. The accompanying rice and beans were less impressive. The Spanish rice had a fairly standard flavor but was noticeably dry. The refried beans were also dry and seemed as though they had been sitting for quite some time before being served, which took away from an otherwise flavorful entrée. The restaurant itself was clean, colorful, and had a lively atmosphere that made it an inviting place to dine. Prices were about what I would expect for the meal we ordered--fair, though not a standout value. Overall, it was a pleasant stop with friendly service and a well-prepared Chile Verde, even if a few of the side dishes fell short.
