What a gem in a sea of oil fields. I have like 2-3 Italian restaurants in the entire country that I consider top tier. And to find one of those places here was very surprising. The service is was great, the restaurant is simple but clean and welcoming. But the lasagna. Oh the lasagna. It came out steaming and cracking in the dish they used in the oven. And I waited. As long as I could. But at some point, I risked the mouth burn because I couldn't resist any longer. And I tasted a lasagna so well done that I could hardly believe it was real. This lasagna but most of my favorites to shame and escalated itself to quite possibly my favorite lasagna of all times. It's small and it's in a small town. We were so lucky to eat at Arti's Italian restaurant on thanksgiving day! The food was incredible! Calzones were some of the best..pepperoni is a bit spicy but tolerable! Sometimes when I order eggplant parmigiana it is salty...NOT here! So good and the marinara sauce was REALLY good! Staff was always close and helpful. Loved the simple ambiance and the music. OVERALL How awesome it was to find Arti's Italian Restaurant in West Texas! This is a really good option for casual dining with limited options for adult beverages and some amazing sounding desserts. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4.5 | Service: 4 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 3 PARKING Free all along the plaza area. LOCATION/AMBIANCE The actual restaurant is almost smack dab in the middle of Pecos, TX. It's on Oak St in the middle of several other businesses between 2nd and 3rd Streets. The front door was quirky, giving everyone a wee fit who entered. No one greeted us when we walked in which is always awkward, but it was a seat yourself place with a variety of tables and booths from which to choose. Music played low, so low I don't remember what genre was playing. THE GRUB Everything tasted really good and came out hot. + Complimentary table bread & sauce (pretty good! Don't fill up on it, though.) + Fried ravioli appetizer (very good) + Half serving of lasagna (by request for my 9-year-old) + Half serving of spaghetti plate with a meatball (by request for my 10-year-old) + El Salvador calzone ($16.95) - I really enjoyed this. It is comprised of "red sauce base, beef, & mozzarella, chicken, cheddar cheese, & jalapeños." It comes with a small bowl of delicious dipping sauce. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB It's not particularly kid-friendly. There were no kids menus. They should really reconsider this since this seems like a family-oriented restaurant. No wonder I didn't see any other kids other than a baby. They have baby slings/high chairs. SERVICE The service was a bit lacking especially at first on 1/13/2024. Once our meals were served, we never saw our waitress again. I guess I didn't want dessert after all. Also, I have no idea how much anything was as we ordered half plates for my kids and was never given a ticket. My bill was over $75. Pretty steep if you ask me. MY FAVORITE PART... The chicken parmigiana was pretty tasty, nicely cooked and breaded, but way too much cheese on top. I ended up scraping most of it off. The spaghetti and sauce wasn't great, just ok. Overall the food was good, but definitely not worth $21. read more

Thanks fellow Yelpers for this gem!!! Easy 5-stars because the food is excellent and the service is very friendly. The restaurant itself isn't going to knock your socks off, and if you're offended by oil workers in baseball caps and families with little kids, then be off with you. But if you want some damn good Italian food served in one of the last places you'd expect to find damn good Italian food, well . . . We had the manicotti and lobster ravioli. The former had a wonderful sauce and the baked crust was wonderful. Add gooey cheese on top to compliment the plentiful ricotta--superb. The lobster ravioli was mouth watering good, and each one had a pan-seared shrimp on top. The vodka sauce (??) accompanying the ravioli was so good, I dipped the homemade garlic knots in it until it was gone. Did I mention the garlic knots. Served hot and with just a dash of kosher salt -- WOW!! Please note, they don't serve wine, but you can bring a bottle with you (not sure if there is a corkage fee). They do have beer and soda. Also, we arrived about 5:15pm on a Thursday evening. Place was full by 6:00pm, and there was a steady flow of people getting takeout. We stopped here on a road trip and everyone loved what they ordered. We fed six people with an appetizer for less than $100. Our kids raved about the mozzarella sticks, the chicken Alfredo, the pepperoni pizza, and the lasagna. The service was quick and the place was nice. We would definitely come here again. read more

Quite a surprise inside as the food is absolutely delicious and as good Italian as we've had in major "foodie" cities. Don't judge Arti's by the outside. My family and I stopped in today as we are making a cross country drive. It was the most highly rated restaurant in Pecos, where we are staying for the evening. Everything was full of flavor - not bad pricing either! I had the Tour of Sicily which features lasagna, fettuccine alfredo, and chicken parmesan. Solllllllld to the highest taste bud bidder laying there quietly on the shopping strip of "Downtown" Pecos. Might be a little difficult to find this if you are still going by and not looking for it but once you're down the street where rest you will not miss it. Of all the trash and - restaurants that are in this little town, I would definitely pick this one my little get away from the dime a dozen Mexican restaurants fast foods. It is ironic that when you come in, you are requested to use the hand sanitizer and sit at one of the spaced tables that are ultimately closed so you will be six foot rule from the other people how are you might not find the workers here walking around in masks but that will not deter me anymore because of the experience here. Once you find your table, you are placed a menu and a basket of free bread and marinara sauce. It is a very good gesture and if you are starving, this is your first find of Arti's treasure. Almost nothing is free in this town for some reason, not even the chips and salsa (hello La Fiesta), but as savoury as my bread was and also my meal which consisted of alfredo noodles and sauce, chicken parmesan and lasagna. I am believing this dish was $15 and worth it. It was not over salty and just had some kind of complicated taste with a huge hint of garlic that I cannot put my finger on but definitely worth a try. As you walk into the door I forgot to mention, there is a dry eraser board that tells you of the specials going on that day. A menu is a front and back only menu choice but it has a wide a range of foods that I think would fit everybody's palette. There is everything from Pizza, lasagna, manicotti, sampler platters like the taste of Sicily and one more I forgot. There is also a dessert section which looked like it had about five desserts. For one lady in her "mids" , she was very busy running around all the tables, cashiering and cleaning the tables. She even had time to refill my iced tea about four times during all of this. I'm sure if it was not as busy things would have been better so you cannot ask for anything else. Definitely worth return trips to try different items on the menu, the consensus were correct on this. this is a perfect hole in the wall. read more

Waitress was new and a little overwhelmed. Owner brought our food out and others showed up to wait tables once it got busier, so it worked out. Food was delicious, much better Italian food than I expected to find in a little town. Friday night football fans filled it up before the game so I guess it is well supported here. Would have no problem returning if in town again. It is obviously a family-owned place as what appeared to be a daughter working the register... I don't think she was too happy about working on Friday night but, I have been in her shoes when I was her age and remember it well...lol... just hang in there, kiddo! This place is a hole inside of the hole in the wall. Let me explain what I mean. We were passing through Pecos TX (moving from Los Angeles to Virginia). Pecos is a very unassuming quiet small town with not too much going on (most small towns don't). We were staying at a local hotel (also reviewed) and needed dinner. Arti's had very good reviews so we headed over. Went to a small town street where it was dark and only 2 places on the block were open. The restaurant itself looks like a pizza joint so we weren't too expectant... Boy were we wrong! First we were greeted by the greatest host/server we've had in a very long time: CARLOS!!! We looked at the specials on the white board and saw some offerings you wouldn't expect to find in a town of 12,000! I ordered the Lobster ravioli and my wife and our friend Taryn split a chicken and shrimp dish in a white wine cream sauce with artichoke and roasted red peppers and spinach. Both dishes were epic! We asked about the chef and he's not even Italian! He was a success story of a guy from Kosovo who worked his way up in the restaurant biz and now is putting out incredible food! I wish the world would have an opportunity to partake. Guy Fietti should do a Triple D episode here! read more

Wife saw this place & after driving over 24 hours deserved whatever she wants, she wants Italian in a small town in Texas she gets it. I am so glad she wanted Italian, what a pleasant delicious surprise as it was some of the best & freshest Italian we have ever had. I have had Italian in Italy & NY and what I had tonight was on par with anything I had anywhere. My wife had Chicken Parm & I had Taste of Sicily, both were served hot, fresh and delicious. The price was right with the portions leaving you full & happy. The meal started with bread & sauce which was devoured before dinner arrived (that good). Do not be deterred from what you see at first, an Italian Restaurant in what may have been an appliance store at one time on a pretty deserted street in a small Texas town. Wow Arti's experience was amazing. I have never had such great Italian food anywhere let alone in such a small town. We ordered the cheese ravioli with pink sauce and the Tour of Sicily. The sauces in this restaurant are to die for. The service was great and for how busy they were on a Saturday night food came out of kitchen as expected. This place has superb food. The pasta is handmade and all the ingredients are very fresh, premium quality. Come here when you are coming through Pecos. It is a destination spot on the I-20! Tell all of your friends and family. The proprietors and the staff are so kind, and the attention to quality and detail is out of this world. The Pasta Milano is exquisite. The pizza is excellent as well. I thought I didn't like pasta, but it turns out I had never had it freshly handmade with top quality ingredients. The first time we came here I had a starving preschooler in full tantrum mode; after eating the marinara sauce with a spoon the kid fell asleep in the booth. Our waiter that day told us "our pizza's the best in the west" and he was not lying. Total class act. Just come eat here, it's outstanding and you need to experience it for yourself. We were going through Pecos and wanted something different than burgers. We found this gem through Yelp. Easily one of my top ten meals of all time. Let me start with real Italian food isn't cheap and you get what you pay for. The garlic knots were so good and fresh- I can't believe they were free! I've paid Lord knows how much for much smaller knots are various places over the years. They were soft, fresh and delicious! We had the tour of Sicily, chicken Alfredo, calzone and a 16" pepperoni pizza for the kids. Everything was amazing so delicious and definitely homemade. The Marinara/red sauce was some of the best sauce I've ever tasted. I couldn't resist ordering a cannoli Togo- again tasted amazing! I'd highly recommend. The service was slower but there was only one woman waiting on tables and it did get quite busy while we were there. She was very sweet and apologized for how slow the service was when we were checking out.. still would highly recommend. read more
