The food was not great, falafel was not a falafel. It did not look like a falafel nor did it taste like one. And this place did not have chicken shawarma and that came as a surprise to us. We were in Puerto Rico back in October for a random trip. We staying in Luquillo in a great AirBNB and dined on all the local cuisine. The food here was fantastic! We got everything just about on the appetizer side. The baba ghanoush is fantastic. Get it. You won't be disappointed. And the falafel were great too, not dry at all. How does this place have no reviews?!? We ordered the hummus first. It was delicious and came with some fantastic bread. Then we shared a Greek salad and a lamb dish. Both dishes had tons of food and we loved it. There are so many restaurants in San Juan that aren't that good so this was a real treat. The salad had tons of cucumbers and olives and all the things that make a Greek salad sooooo good? The lamb kebab was so tasty. So in the last two weeks, I had the best turkish/mediteranean food in New York and now San Juan. There is no hope for me in Texas now, I am completely ruined by these amazing experiences. Tough to find but worth the search. It's located in a plaza across from the Marriott and next to Starbucks. Lovely atmosphere. Wonderful service and a delicious menu. A decent Halal place in the middle of a touristy area of condado beach. It has 3 turkish chefs who bake the best breads and make the most amazing bakhlavas. The food portion is a little less and the prices are high. The tip is also automatically deducted. The meat was tender and good. Would visit again as there is no Halal place nearby. read more

I have been let down by highly rated Mediterranean, middle eastern restaurants before and let me say...this did not disappoint. I was feeling a little bloated from all my gastronomic adventures on the island and was afraid of making it worse, when I informed the waitress ( I cannot remember her name and I wish I did) she was so helpful! She recommended lighter foods and drinks for me to settle my stomach and I finally picked a nice salad. The salad was great! it was everything I needed and still filling and full of flavor. We had the dolmas and their bread was so tasty. All I can say is I can tell that whoever owns this restaurant really cares. What I look for when going out to eat at establishments are the following and I know if they check these boxes they are good places to eat: 1) first impressions (ambiance) : very middle eastern looking and cozy.The tables are not so big that I have to reach across to hold my boyfriends hand or try and stretch for napkins. 2) menu size and offerings: small specialized menu. They make few very Turkish, middle eastern choices that are made with care and love. So tasty! 3) service: as stated our waitress was so sweet (if the owners read this we went on Tuesday October 11th around 7pm. She was a young girl with braids in her hair and braces, soft spoken and very sweet, please let her know she was a great host and we appreciate her giving us a great experience) 4)bathrooms: here is where I feel they could use a bit more work. It was clean by all standards do not get me wrong! However, it was small and from what I recall no place to change a baby if a mother needed to do so. I just remember it being a bit uncomfortable. We got the mix grill for two which included steak, chicken, and lamb plus two servings of rice, potatoes, and carrots and salad. The chicken was great and the steak was ok. The lamb was a lot more gamey than other places we've had. The rice was good especially with the green sauce, yes sauce, PR has a house sauce for every restaurant. Usually they are pretty good. The service was very nice and accomodatable (is that a word?) Everything I ordered was delicious. I especially reccomend the dolma and ezme. We are vegetarians, our concierge at Mariott suggested this place right across the street. B'ful place, awesome appetizers. Do make reservations before going on a weekend, they are usually full. So thankful to yelp in helping me find this hidden Gem. The food was excellent and very authentic. We had Iskandar kabab that was probably one of the best Turkish/Middle Eastern food we ever had. The restaurant is decorated beautifully, the service was wonderful, and elegant. If I could only understand what all excitement of this restaurant is about?! I strongly believe this restaurant is over priced, and has mediocre food and arrogant staff (except the puerto rican red hair waitress, she tried hard to help us). let me mention first that I am middle eastern and I know ths food very well. My boyfriend and I are vacationing in the Island and found this restaurant on yelp. it had more than 4 stars and $$. Since we both love middle eastern food ( I am from the area), we decided to give it a try for dinner. when we got there the host informed us that there is going to be a 45 min wait however if we decided to stay, we could leave our cell numbers and scroll around the neighborhood and he will call us to come back 10 minutes ahead of our turn. We were excited about the food and new to the neighborhood, so 45 minutes didnt seem too long. However after one and half hour of not hearing from him, we decided to go back to the restaurant. As I walked in, the host approached us and said your seat will be in 45 seconds which turned out to be another 15 min. In total we waited about 2 hours to sit which we were promised to be 45 min!!!!!! we recieved our food. our average pricy dinner started with three appetizers. Normally $10/dish and $5 half a dish. we ordered 3 half dish appetizers (hummus, falafel and cabbage dolma). what we received was 2 falafels, 3 table spoons hummus and 3 cabbage dolma!!!!! all tasted good but are you kidding me?!!!! 2 falafels for $5????? 3 tables spoons hummus for 5? and then came the dinner "Lamb Casserole"...meat was dry, greesy and chopped in very small pieces that you couldnt even get the taste out of it. rice was decent. it was a peasant food.. On the top of all of it, we ordered another bread when our entrees came but by the time it arrived we were finished. when the waiter arrived we told him we were hoping to eat it with our food..his comical reply "i imagine so", our waiter didnt even care about us sitting in the restaurant. it was still 40 minute before close and he wanted to shut the place and organize the tables already.if it was not because of that puerto rican waitress, he was going to rudely attach a table to our table. I only heard that the other waitrees told him, they are still sitting, you should not block them!!!!!! really!!!!!?????? GREAT SERVICE ALI BABA!!!! I complain about the food to the waitress and she talked to the managers, host and chef. and nothing!!!!! the host showed up at out table and apologize for the bad food while saying it was the only time it happened!!!!Overall, all I recommand from this restaurant is their BREAD, get it to go and spend your money on food somewhere else that is worth it! read more

My only complaint about this restaurant is that we didn't find it earlier! Great food, very fresh and authentic. Service was amazing. We both ordered the casseroles me the chicken and my husband the lamb meatball. Everyone around us had amazing looking food. Wish we would have ordered the hummus, looked very good and the bread that came with it was fresh from the oven. I rarely give a 5star but I could not find one thing wrong with our experience! Not sure if this place has changed hands or something but our experience was completely different than many of the other reviewers here. The food was at best mediocre and the service was painfully slow. The whole place seems chaotic and when the incorrect food arrived I ate it anyway because I wasn't waiting another hour for the correct dish. The final issue was that the bill was incorrect. Okay, this place ROCKS!! Gluten-free came out of my mouth and the waiter answered all of my questions before I could ASK him!! Veggies for the hummus worked brilliantly and the feta cheese was the best we have ever had! I had the Lamb Doner plate and my husband had Lamb Kebab - both were amazing! We couldn't have the rice pilaf, but the cabbage and potatoes were more than plentiful and tasty - didn't miss the rice at all! We had the falafel, even though they don't have a dedicated fryer, and the falafel was very clean without any traces of other fried items on them. Our waiter even expressed concern that I would try them with the risk of cross-contamination - what a sweetie! I have found that (for me) I am very reactive to gluten, but clean, hot fryers don't pose a problem for me. So, if you are even more reactive than I am, the falafel is out of the question, but for me, it was a wonderful treat! And, the sauces are a special treat - tomatillo and jalapeño was my favorite! read more

We loved everything about Ali Baba. Very cute comfy ambiance (you can eat indoors or outside), outstanding food and un-fussy yet friendly service. For apps, we shared a half-and-half plate of babaganoush and hummus which was first of all the most delicious babaganoush I've ever eaten and secondly was served with a fantastic lavash bread. Apps and lavash bread are served with house-made hot sauces which are just wonderful. My entree of lamb meatballs and my Better Half's entree of moussaka were phenomenal. Each was served in an individual iron skillet. The melted cheese on my meatballs is the kind that makes "strings" that dangle from your fork - yes, that melted cheese you dream about. Entrees were served with perfectly prepared sides of rice pilaf, a beautiful diced potato dish, and a tangy cabbage salad that reminded me of a sophisticated deliciously dressed cole slaw. Ya know what? Just go. Based on our experience, I am confident you will enjoy it. A lot! read more

Not worth it. For some reason the only thing available was appetizers, salad and soups. I came in reading the reviews and was excited; however the food was just not good and the price was way too high. 4 small falafel for $10, a small plate of babaganoush- $10, small plate taziki- $10. Kibe- $12. The taziki was good and flavorful, but like 6 bites worth (yogurt and cucumber should cost that much for a small portion). However, the falafel was dry and poorly flavored and the sauce was just plain bad, it tasted like rancid lemon. If you have never had a falafel before maybe you would think it was good. the babaganoush was ok, but not delicious. The Kibe was good and ok sized for the price (filling). The food is great here. I've been staying in Condado for a while for business and I'm so disappointed I didn't discover this place earlier. Had the lamb spice balls and the whole meal and sides were delicious. I had to have the baklava just because the main was so well done and I was glad I did...fabulous. I agree with first review that it is odd there's not more about this...I can only assume they suffer from a somewhat silly name. I have found so many places along the strip are expensive and crappy.
