I was surprised by this place, in a good way. A fusion of Mediterranean and Mexican food that actually worked pretty well in the dishes we tried. Very close to square one shopping mall, this is a good option when you're in the area. There was one person in there working as far as we could tell when we went in this evening. We grabbed the box and some tacos. The box is a mix of rice and salad with a choice of filling (we got chicken) and it was topped with some beans, corn and chickpeas with some delicious sauce. The tacos were cool- not your typical Mexican taco with flour or corn tortilla. It was like a pita but crispy after being in the press with the filling and topped with lettuce, salsa and sauce. The sauces are a variety- some being hummus or a tahini which is where the fusion cuisine takes place. Would definitely come back. read more

Came by as I saw Alijandro's Kitchen still had a BOGO offer on Ubereats. I ordered Alijandro's box with Al Pastor chicken and garlic sauce, no spice ($14 for 2 boxes). Preparation was super quick. I ordered from the Square One parking lot before starting my car, and 15 mins later when I arrived, it was already ready. Food-wise, I'm a fan. While I enjoy shawarma, I often find it too heavy especially for summer, so I tend to stay away. I liked this chicken/rice box a lot since the sauce felt much lighter and easier to eat even when it's hot outside. The portion size was good; the styrofoam takeout box the meal came in was topped up and the amount in it would definitely be enough for one person. There was enough sauce, the whole bowl felt very fresh, and I liked the tomatoes that topped the bowl since it added something cold + tangy to the meal. Location is convenient, next to Square One and easy to find, but has limited (all paid) street parking. It's best to go with someone to drive, pop off quickly to pick up, and go. All in all a solid experience. I'd definitely come back for more Alijandro's Box. At the BOGO price I got it for, portion size was great, but at the original price, I'd think it leans towards being pricey, as the box isn't really that full. But, flavour and freshness are all really good, so I can anticipate myself craving this soon! read more

Having marked for a long time, finally made it here. On a Sunday afternoon the place almost deserted. The ones manager Ali is my guess was very helpful and welcoming. Explained what the menu was and suggested is vegan options for all three vegans. We were in for a light snack and hence (still) ordered a Original and Stuffed Spud with sweet potato as a choice. The Original waffle cone is the star. Made from chickpeas and this gluten free and it was vegan. The stuffing was ok. Nothing original about that, bunch of vegetables with a date and tamarind hummus ( but more like a dressing than a hummus). A unique flavour for sure. Sweet anD tangy. The stuffed potato was great. Huge size with lots of toppings and quit filling. The beans were spicy and were great for me. Also had a mango mint lemonade which reminded me of a (south western) Indian raw mango drink (Panna). I would give this place 2.5. Bought the Alijandro's box through the ritual app for take out Pros- portions are generous.Location is conveniently near square one . The bf loved the rice! Chicken tasted good but slightly dry. Cons- take out box was very flimsy . As soon as I took the take out box out of the bag, felt the bottom of the box start to tear. I quickly started transferring the food to a plate . Big mistake ..as I took a spoonful out of the corn, the box collapsed and corn fell everywhere. Should have just dumped the corn and rice into the plate instead once we knew the box was tearing. Side note , corn was also lacking flavour. I likely wouldn't return. read more

It was by luck that we were in the area and found parking in front of the place. For a windy night, the place was bare. There are limited seating area and it was nice that the other half was a smoothie counter, but it was closed when we were there. I ordered The Alijandro's box with salad, chicken and rice on the side. The portion is generous on a paper takeout container. The seasoning to the chicken is flavourful that it actually looked like beef. The spicy chipotle sauce had a kick and the garlic sauce made it less dry. The disappointment was the crunchy baked chickpeas which were not crunchy at all!!! I would have like other additional veggies like green peppers. I would go back to try their "fawaffle" since I believe that is what they are known for. Parking might be the biggest issue. read more

My first visit to Alijandro's was a case of, "bookmarked as soon as it opened, but only got to it now"...and we're talking 2-3years after they've opened. First, it's located on one of those "condo" streets in City Centre. The restaurant itself is on the ground floor, in a commercial unit, of a condo so forget about a parking lot! It's street parking only. I was at the library, so I came by foot. Although painted in bright neon green and I came during lunch, the interior was sorta dim. They could use some LED track lighting. It gave me a bit of a dismal first impression. Food is a fusion of Middle Eastern (flavoured basmati rice - similar to Afghan places, some sauces) and Mexican (some of the protein, toppings such as pico de gallo, & other sauces). I ordered the Alijandro's Box ($13) and also go a free taco with Yelp Check-In. Even though both workers never heard about the Check-in offer, they honoured it anyway which was nice! Since I was hungry, I ate the Taco right away - I had the marinated portobellos which were very flavourful! There were samples of the fawaffle and I didn't care for it. It didn't really taste like a falafel and also had a stale flavour. I also got crispy chickpeas as a topping and didn't like them...until they got soften the next day. They were roasted so sorta hard. I noticed that the shredded iceberg lettuce was already browning. It's probably used in the wraps, thank God! Flavours and portions are definitely there! Time to downgrade the rating. The quality seems to have gone down now. They have become stingy with the chicken which itself does not have a lot of flavour now and aren't putting in much of the sauces either. This has been the case the past 2 times I ordered from here. Absolutely love this hidden gem in downtown Mississauga! Once you find it, you won't miss it again. Food: We tried a variety of items including tacos, lemonades, mac n cheese balls and of course, the FAWAFFLE! Really great options especially for gluten intolerance (the fawaffle is gluten free). Food is delicious and I highly recommend the mushroom taco, beef taco and fawaffle (either stuffed or the chip version with dips). Such a unique dish considering the waffle is MADE FROM falafel! Jalapeño Mac n cheese balls have a nice bite to it from the jalapeño spice but I recommend sharing these as it can become heavy. Lemonade is a must try...we love both the pomegranate and the mango (50/50 split on this one) Service is fast and friendly. We've ordered off of the food truck too but the dine -in restaurant is great. 1 block from Celebration Square and good hours. read more

So pleasantly impressed! We ordered the Alijandro's box, the fawafel cone with chicken and avocado, and the a halloumi taboon taco. The food was amazing! The box was filled with flavour, we got both the chicken and beef on a bed of rice, covered with beans and fried chick peas. The fried chick peas were golden. I wish they sold it separately. The beef was my favourite perfectly seasoned and delicious. The fawafel cone was also great, the stuffing was so good. Chicken mixed with avacado and salad. Yummmm wish I got two lol. The place is very clean, everything is done right in front of you. Check in on yelp and get a free taboon taco! I got a halloumi one. It was so good, noel was helping us decide what to get. She suggested with halloumi taboon with a black olive paste. It was delicious! Noel was great, very patient answered all the questions we had about the menu and made great recommendations. She also took the time to talk about the origin of the place. How they started as a food truck and evolved, also about the history of Latin cuisine inspired the Middle East. Hi Yelpers!! So, I always passed by this interesting looking restaurant when I go Pokemon hunting haha. Thought I'd try it out one day. So, here I am! I had a lovely Alijandro's Box. So I'm it comes with either slow roasted chicken or beef. You then can have salad or rice or both. Your toppings can be corn, beans, crispy baked chick peas, pico de galo? And their zesty garlic sauce. So all in all, I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed it more than burrito Boyz bowls. To me it has flavour. The pico de galo helps makes the dish seem light with the heavy rice and meat. The corn and beans add sweet and spice. The garlic sauce is also good. Not too bland nor is it over powering. I would definitely come back to try their Shawarma in a waffle and their wings and their corn in a cup. The front store guy is great. Personable. Easy going. Great at making sales pitch. By the way! I got a combo so it came with a lemonade drink. We had two choices. Either a mango mint lemonade or a pomegranate lemonade. Being a super mango fan! I'm bias toward my mango mint. Not too sweet. The pomegranate is also good too! The price is affordable. Not too expensive and the price is appropriate to the portion of food you get. I'd recommend this to my friends! We were at the Canada Day festival at Celebration square and I was intrigued by the truck with fawaffles. Waffles made out of falafel. Since the entire family was with us, and it was soooo hot outside, Samar (owner) suggested we eat in his restaurant across the street that has a/c. We went over but it was not much cooler. There were plenty of veg, gf and dairy free options. I love that there was another counter inside that focused on smoothies and juices. Everyone ordered a mango mint lemonade...it was good but tasted like mango juice and not lemonade. I had the rice and salad box with mushrooms as the "protein". It was very flavourful and a fairly large serving. There were a few small tables with chairs and 2 unisex washrooms that were clean. They have recycle and compost bins that made me happy. Those that ordered the fa waffle enjoyed them and did not have much difficulty eating them. This Mediterranean Mexican fusion restaurant was a cool new find! We went here specifically to try the Avo Chicken Fawaffle cone. I applaud their creativity here -- they make a falafel flavoured waffle cone and stuff it with ingredients (lettuce, tomatoes, sauce, etc.)! I like the idea, but realized I love traditional falafel so much because of its texture (crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside) which is missing here. I was also expecting stronger garbanzo bean, onion and parsely flavours. We also tried a beef taco and let me tell you... That beef is a winner. The seasoning and cook on it was just perfect. The customer service here is great. They gave us a sample of the meat to try when we were deciding which taco filling to get. Everyone was very nice, asking us if we enjoyed the food. If you're okay with untraditional, I'd recommend trying the Fawaffle! Personally next time I would try one of their bowls with beef filling instead. read more

Came during their soft opening and tried one of their bowls, which was a mix of salad and rice, topped with chicken, beef and other deliciousness. The bowl was really filling even for the smaller portion. The dish was fresh and tasty, each ingredient enhancing the flavours of the other. The team went above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction also. I liked the concept of their famous falafel-waffle (fawaffle) in theory though wasn't impressed with its execution, personally. As Karen N and I left the Luminato show tonight, a man approached us and ask if we like falafel. My first thought was, "who doesn't?" Alijandro's Kitchen turns the traditional falafel into waffle cone, a healthy alternative, they say. If you don't pay attention, you'll finish the cone filled with a spicy hummus and well-dressed salad and wonder where the falafel was. At $7.50 a pop, it almost seems gimmicky and seems like a better deal to get the other items on the menu where you'd probably be more satisfied with your order. While they advertise that the fawaffle is vegan, and diary free, the fawaffle is the only item that is. They also serve an "avo chicken" fawaffle for $10 and a warmed cashew baklava with a scoop of vanilla ice cream topped with pistachios for $5. I tried the baklava, it was ok, the ice cream made the crunch pastry a bit chewy, I'd probably like a slightly bigger dish and have it on the side. The experience wasn't bad, but I think the best part of a falafel is that it is fried. So I'll probably stick to that. read more

I ordered Alijandro's box, for me I got salad and rice with beef and chicken. SO MUCH FLAVOUR! Such a great mix of flavours, my favourite was the fried chick peas on top. I got spicy but in my opinion, the sauce is not too extreme and it doesn't give you watery eyes, however take caution when I say this because I'm African and love spice. If you're not into spicy food, just play it safe and get medium at the most spiciest. To sum up what I thought of the food; its like Osmows but better quality and more flavour. The owner is such a friendly guy, you can tell he takes pride in serving great dishes. Quality is definitely what matters, not quantity. To be honest, Alijandro's reaches my expectations regarding quantity and quality. If you're not familiar with the area, it can be hard to find parking so I would suggest parking further away if the weather's nice you can just enjoy a small walk before eating or come when people are not out looking for takeout (for example coming on a weekend evening trying to find parking in front of the restaurant would probably stress you out). Parking in the front of the restaurant is free for the first 30mins so that's good if you just want to grab some quick takeout. They REALLY need to invest in a ventilation system. As soon as you walk in, you are bathed with a middle eastern/latin spices combo mist, not to mention it's quiet stuffy and hot inside. Moving past that, I do view this place as a hidden gem, and I am amused at the falafel cone idea. It was a very new experience for me. I didn't appreciate the aftertaste of the meal, but I do like the taste itself, and I do want to try again. read more

Baklava crumble was a big hit with my family. The warm caramely nutty baklava paired with cold ice cream was delicious. I was pretty intrigued with the fa waffle so ordered the avo chicken. Food was just alright, food took an hour, from the time I ordered it. Maybe it would have been better if they had more staff to get the orders through. So I can't blame the staff, since they only had 1 cashier/ food prep and 1 kitchen staff who had to come out and help the cashier with orders. I did use the Ritual app and I'm sure the restaurant was bombarded with orders + regular walk ins. Therefore, by time I got my food, it wasn't fresh anymore. Had been meaning to go earlier in the summer to their food truck but was either in a rush or was checking out other trucks. This time I saw it open and decided I will go there and get something . The cashier was very helpful and he explained the menu to me.. he said that they offer a fusion of Mediterranean -Mexican cuisine and let me sample a piece of fawaffle w hummus dip.. He mentioned that they will be opening their dine in area soon. For now the food is to go . I really like the new concept of Medi- mex fusion as it gives more choices for us to eat in the city . I got the Al Pastor Chicken Box half and hald which consisted of soft and succulent pieces of chicken with beans , garlic sauce and rice . The half and half is half a bed of rice and half a bed of salad upon which the food rests. It tasted quite delicious and it was a nice harmony of the flavours.. I do plan to return and on my list is the avo chicken fawaffle , the chicken taboon taco, baklava crumble, and the original fawaffle items with add ons like more meat, mushrooms. It's an interesting idea to fuse Mexican and Mediterranean food, but it doesn't quite work. The food is presented very well, but the flavours just don't work in the way they are presented. It's really not that the quality of food is bad, so I assume something here is good, but I was greatly disappointed with the tacos and the fawaffle cone. tried it for the first time last week after reading some good reviews. they went heavy on the mint sauce that kind of gave my fawaffle a bitter taste. the Mac n Cheese Jalapeno balls had "frozen" Mac n Cheese inside !! this is how these food joints miss giving attention to the details and hence disappoint the customer sometimes. read more

I stopped in this restaurant twice in early August. I've been there before, long before Covid. The food is pretty good and reasonably priced. I was, however, very disappointed that none of the staff - including the food preparer - were wearing masks (which I thought were actually now mandatory in Mississauga). If that is their policy, I guess I won't be back anytime soon. read more
