I can't believe no one has reviewed Aling Nene's! Does no one want to vouch for their deliciously marinated bbq on a stick? Their juicy roasted chicken? Well, I grew up with take-out bbq and chicken from Aling Nene's. It was my parents' go-to place whenever the help were out and no one would cook at home. Just get two dozen bbq sticks and a whole roasted chicken chopped up (I grew up in a big family) and dinner would be served!
I think I learned the word "taba" (fat) because of Aling Nene's bbq. The last piece on the stick would always be extra charred and fatty, and I attribute some of the flavor of the bbq to that fattiness oozing out on all the rest of the pork on the stick. This is also where I learned that eating taba was bad for you, because I would always eat the taba. But I was maybe 5 or 6, and they said I was still young so I could eat it. Twenty years later, I still eat the taba of anything. Thanks to habits formed from eating Aling Nene's bbq. read more
