At the time, I didn't realize this was an astronomical amount for this replacement but my neighbors told me afterwards that I was taken advantage of because this part generally was under $50.00. I contacted the business and was told that the part was $400 and the rest was labor. I complained about amount and was offered a service warranty for a 20+ year old system, which I did not need. I also was told that the item had a lifetime warranty, which I did not ask for. I would NEVER had agreed to replacement of this part had I known how much they were going to charge me. I would have gotten a second opinion. After extensive conversation with Patrick Olszewski (field service manager), he said I would receive a refund in the amount of $250.00, which I have yet to receive. This conversation took place on 9/3/2026. I have spoken with several different people in this organization trying to get this resolved. I received an invoice (not itemized) that says I was due a refund but didn't get it. Think twice before doing business with this company. ADDENDUM: I have finally received reimbursement.

I decided to hire Call Dad AC & Heating for a second opinion and they actually took the time to properly diagnose the issue for a fraction of the price. Turns out it was a much bigger issue than a blown fuse and Mountain Air Mechanical Contractors ripped me off in an effort to be lazy and save time. They also told me they would charge another diagnostic fee if they had to come back, even though they clearly didn't fix the problem.

It finally turned into an iceberg in mid-November during the cold snap (reversing valve sensor inop). It took a couple visits to diagnose, acquire parts, and fix all the issues, and Doug's team kept us updated on progress throughout. However, the best part was when James asked if the unit was still under warranty. We checked and it was, with only two weeks remaining on the covered period! So all the parts were covered and the work was completed before the deadline. Considering how much time they spent I was very pleased with the final bill. We needed a crane for one job, and Hollifield arranged getting to the site early and even let us use the crane to move a new skylight for a roofing crew too. Our two new heat pumps, air handlers, one mini-split and a repair on an older system all went flawlessly. I especially liked that Spencer answered calls quickly and was willing to let me double check sizing, ask lots of questions, and he even helped us out with troubleshooting some problems outside the scope of our hvac jobs. Seriously, Spencer at Hollifield HVAC made dealing with tough problems possible. (We put down a deposit before the jobs and paid when completed. After explaining all the things we had tried, the technician told me he would call me back as soon as he had a time slot available, and would come by. Within two hours, I had a phone call telling me he could make a house call in 15 minutes. Brendan arrived promptly and assessed the furnace. He indicated he would need to step out to pick up a part, but that he would be back within the hour to repair it. And he was absolutely true to his word. The entire repair, from assessment to clean up, took less than two hours, and our furnace was back up and running. There aren't many repair places you can call who will send a service tech out the same day, and actually fix the problem same day.
