I had this company replace my pressure tank, and after the work was done I discovered I had been overcharged by at least $450.00 based on a previous quote. To their credit, they refunded that amount after I brought it to their attention but I think they did it because they were CAUGHT. However, the same technician also quoted me ~$8,000.00 to replace my well pump. I just had it replaced by another company for right at $4,000.00 -- exactly HALF the price. They quoted me DOUBLE what it actually costs. When I reported the overcharge, I was told the technician would be written up. He was only written up because he got CAUGHT. I have no doubt this kind of pricing is widespread across this company. Do NOT use All About Plumbing. I'll also be saving documentation of all of this. We hired All About Plumbing to replace our hot water heater about a year ago (labor cost $1,333). Eight months later, the drain pan they installed cracked. The part was under warranty, but we were charged $321 for labor. Three months later, the same part cracked again -- likely due to installation issues -- and they're requesting another $321. The technician was kind and professional, but management was dismissive. When I asked about a labor discount or warranty on their work, the owner told me, "No ma'am, I can't just give you what you want." After my review, the company claimed they hadn't installed our unit, which isn't accurate -- they did the installation. I was never told that using manufacturer warranty parts would void any labor guarantee. Poor communication and no accountability. I used this company some years ago and the young man just happened to be a brother Marine who had the same MOS in the Corps as well. Only about 40 years apart. I just recently used your company again to insulate water line feeding to my mobile home. He was up front with the cost which did raise an eye brow. All About Ripoffs! This company completely took advantage of my 74-year-old mother, and it makes me sick. She called them because her plumbing was backing up. They came out and said her septic tank was full, charging her $450 just for that visit. They then sent someone the next day to pump the tank. When I saw the bill, I was absolutely shocked. They charged $475 just to pump the tank, plus $150 for a "heavy solids and scum" fee, $150 for a weekend fee (it was a Saturday), and $150 to dig up two septic lids. That came to $925 just to pump a septic tank. It gets worse. They didn't even bother to cover the septic lids back up with dirt. When my husband stopped by later that same day, he noticed the tank wasn't even fully emptied. We took pictures, and you can clearly see it was not pumped out. There is no possible way that amount could have accumulated in just a few hours from an elderly woman living alone. I immediately called the company and asked them to come back and finish the job. I was told they were "too busy" and could come out Monday. No one showed up. When I called again, I was spoken to rudely and told they would send someone "as soon as possible." That was three weeks ago. Three weeks later, no one has returned, the job was never completed, and my elderly mother was left taken advantage of and disrespected. This company should be ashamed of how they treat people--especially seniors. I would strongly warn anyone to stay far away. read more

All About Money I used to work for a similar company in my younger days, pumping septic systems and all the other "glorious" stuff that comes with that line of work. I'm no expert, but I know a lot about them. I recently bought a new-to-me home and needed to do preventative maintenance on the septic system. I have a five-person household and no history of when it was last pumped. After doing my due diligence and getting a few estimates, I called for pricing. I was told there was a flat fee of $475, with a possible additional $150 charge for heavy solids and scum. What? I asked them to explain what that meant. In short, this is a ridiculous added charge you're billed for if your septic contents don't have the consistency of water. Every tank should have a scum layer on top, effluent in the middle, and solids on the bottom. They claim that the solids--something all septic systems have--take more time and effort to pump and dispose of. Trust me, this is a devious way to take more of your money. Thomas Rains was the technician who helped us - he should have the additional title of "hostage negotiator." We had a sewer leak that we were unaware of given that the leak was located somewhere on our neighbor's property. We found out about the leak because the neighbor was pulling prospective buyers of our house into their backyard to show them said leak. Needless to say, when we found out through some of those buyers there was a leak, we asked the neighbor to tell us where it was so we could have someone come fix it. The neighbor refused to tell or show us the leak. So we contacted All About Plumbing, Thomas showed up and was able to not only get the neighbor to tell him where the leak was, but actually allow him to repair it, which involved digging up their yard a bit. I don't know what kind of anti-Karen wizardry Thomas possesses, but he truly saved us when we needed it the most. The work was top notch, done exactly how and when they said, and the cost was especially reasonable. The three ladies I spoke with in the office were amazing and so helpful with the whole situation as well. 100% recommend All About Plumbing. read more

I went down to our basement at 9:00 p.m. last night and we had a flood in our basement. I called All About Plumbing and they came over within an hour. They explained that the expansion tank and pressure reducing valve had failed. They did not have one in the truck but they said they could come out this morning at 9:30 with the parts to fix it. At 9:00 they showed up and the job was fixed by 10:00. The guys were very professional and friendly. They were also excellent about explaining what they were doing and how these parts fail. They were also good about answering question. I will say, that they were very expensive, but you do get what you pay for. They were prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable and gave me a great deal of confidence that the repairs were done correctly. If you are looking for a bargain or cheap plumber, these are not the guys for you, however, if you want prompt and excellent service, I highly recommend them. read more

My rental property needed a toilet replacement. It was a gravity pull toilet.. The issue was not immediate, but it needed to be addressed and attended to. Due to this issue, I believe this company took advantage of the rental company in question.. And charged an absorbent amount of money to replace a simple toilet. 900 dollars to be exact, which is simply disgusting, to say the least. Spoke with Russell the septic manager at 5:35pm on Friday to book an after hours tank pumping. He quoted us a price of 450.00 to pump the tank, 150 to come out on the weekend and 50.00 a foot to dig up the lid. He said he could get to us in the morning. We told him that would be great and we would call him back in 30-60 min to give him directions. When we called back 25 min later, we asked about why his yelp page state "24 hour on call technicians with no trip charge. Call day or night for no additional fee." I explained I was not trying to beat him up on the price. I just wanted him to know what his yelp page has on it. He stated that he does not have a yelp page and has never advertised on yelp. Before I could start to give him directions he got rude and said he had several calls after he spoke with me and he would not have another opening until Wed October the 9th. Hired the All about Septic part of the business to pump our septic tank. Which they did. They noted our lines were clogged - all 4 of them. They quoted around $2000 to clear them and would arrive the following week to do so. After about 30 mins of working on the lines they announced they couldn't clear 2 out of the only 3 lines I had. It turned out I only had 3 not 4 lines. I asked for a price adjustment - as they weren't going to be there for as long as they otherwise would have. The one guy became quite nasty and unprofessional and seemed personally insulted that I would ask for a price adjustment. The other fellow did his job. He was fine. This was another rainy day in Hendersonville. We bought our house three and a half years ago and, as part of the escrow, we had the septic system serviced. After calling the people that first did the work, with no response after two calls, I called ALL ABOUT PLUMBING AND SEPTIC and you know what I got? A live person that answered the phone! She said, "we can be there tomorrow". In the rain they finished before dark and were on their way with...a good job done from me. Just received an invoice to replace toilet bolts on 2 toilets. Technician said toilet needed a "Major Overhaul " at a cost of $344.28 each. The 2 toilets are from 2008 and probably cost $100 new. I don't get where these bad reviews are coming from... we've had nothing but great experiences with them. We've used them several times, for repairs on up to new plumbing done during a remodel. The guys are really nice and professional, they do the work for the quoted amount, and I don't worry at all about it when they are through. I will say that Asheville pricing in general is very expensive, but we've gotten quite a few quotes for all the work we've had done, and their pricing is competitive. In summary, I thought the plumber was competent, professional, and realistic. I felt the estimator was incompetent, unrealistic. And, they were 7 hours late. I thought they were expensive and inconsiderate of my time. I think they have the right idea though. They are open 24/7, cover just about anything plumbing and septic, and give "free" estimates. Of course, they cost more, but you can say no to the estimate without paying a trip fee (that's the "free" part). And, they leave you with a little info sheet too. I originally felt bad for the poor guy giving me the estimate, who I thought was only doing his job. It seemed to me like he was reading from a script, answering my questions with standard statements. Then I found out later that he's an owner. That changes things. Heres how it happened. I called All About Plumbing.. Wed at 7:30 am to schedule an appointment. Asked a number of questions, some answered. I continued to ask about pricing, ball park, hourly rate, anything at all. They said they couldn't give out any pricing until they saw the job. I booked the appointment. They said I'd be the 2nd customer of the day, at about 12 noon. I called at 1 pm to confirm the appointment. They apologized and said he'd be by in 1 - 1/2 hours. They called me about 3pm to say there was a detour and they'd be by in about 1 - 1/2 hours. They called about 5:30 to say the truck broke down but he had a ride and was on the way. Chris, the owner (not just a naive employee), shows up for the estimate, and starts off with a price of $225 to pump the 20 gallons from the septic pump container. I tell him that's insane, I just had 1000 gals pumped for the same price. He claims it costs the same for them to pump 20 gals as it does for 1000gals. I'm not convinced, I grab a bucket and proceed to bail out the 20 gals. (I do this seemingly gross job because I know that no one has been living here for 2 weeks and all I've done is run clean soapy water down it, plus it was pumped out and hosed down just the day before). It takes me 15min. He proceeds to give me 2 scenarios for billing. Best case and worse case, $214 or $450. I agree and ask them to fix it, as I've wasted the whole day waiting for them and don't want to start over tomorrow. He then proceeds to investigate the leak we see. He determines it's a leaking toilet at a cost of $200-$450 and explains the problem with the tank valve. I have to admit by this time I'm not really listening, the estimate seems absurd to me and I've replaced the guts myself for about $20. I tell him I'll deal with that another time, not tonight. He then calls his plumber and tells him they have the job, he lets me know he'll be there in about 1 - 1/12 hours. He shows up around 7:30, makes the repair in about 15 minuets, inserting an 8" PVC to repair the break, and we wait for it to dry. $214 total. read more

I am a homeowner that lives out of state. I contacted All About Plumbing & Septic for septic pump alarm going off. I was happy with the fast response time and that is it. Once the technician arrived, he immediately plugged back in the pump, it did not engage. Well, that is why the alarm was going off. He dug up around the pump and quickly diagnosed. Called me to let me know that the unit (which by the way is only two years old), was not rated to be buried and had burnt out. It was going to be an extensive repair job, including a new pump, discharge line, basin, check valve and ball valve, etc. plus pumping the system. All in all a quote for $6,200 PLUS tax! I called another septic company and was told that the pump is rated properly, all that was wrong was it was clogged. it simply cleaned out, plugged in and works perfectly fine now. Trying to take advantage of someone out of town or because I am a women was a big mistake on their part. I will NEVER recommend or call this company again! read more
