The right hand doesn't seem to know what the left hand is doing. We signed a two year contract which never entered the system. We had to call and spend time explaining what we had paid for. The first technician that came out was clueless he just made an appearance because he had to. Apparently he ordered a part for us which was never followed up. The year two technician (we had to call to remind them) was great, explained everything made some recommendations and said he would follow up. We called to schedule the service which included the item from the previous year. They had no clue but said for a fee they would send a technician and the window was from 9AM to 5PM to see what we needed. These people just can't deliver on any promises. We hired Blue Planet because they were able to get to us quickest, we only contacted plumbers with great reviews. Our plumbing issues were very complicated due to Hurricane Helene Damage. Uber came out with some help, and they worked very hard, non-stop. We had Uber over again today, to assess why our water pump was running almost constantly. He quickly isolated and identified the problem - a broken line that feeds water through an underground pipe to water the lower garden, which we just turned on a few weeks ago. They do nice work however very extremely overpriced. Full disclosure- they only provide non emergency services so don't expect any help after hours unless it's something stemming from their warranty work. The company pays their technicians hourly plus commission so this incentive is what drives up cost. The technician will come to your place of residence and basically size you up for price. When I challenged the tech on why such a high price quote, he informed me there was at least 3/4 of a day work involved. ( The actual job took 3 hours). The price they quoted me seems to have relatively little relationship to the actual amount of work or materials involved. read more

I had a lot of issues with Blue Planet's work. Caused my bathtup to leak. Argued that it was my fault. I argued it didn't leak when they got here and they came out six times before it was finally fixed. Didn't finish the job. Had to argue with George him saying the forgotten down line wasn't included with all the other down lines they fixed. They finally came and replaced it. So now I still have part of one of the down lines not completed. But my real complaint is that they super over charged me. I am figuring about $400 for parts and max $1000 for two guys for six days. Not including the extra days to fix what they forgot or messed up. And charge me over $9000. For at least a $7000 profit!!! read more

We are very pleased with it but it did initially have an issue that took a bit of effort to resolve(turned out to be a motherboard problem). The owner of the company Georg immediately got involved and came to look at the system himself. He communicated with the manufacturer and then sent Pablo to resolve the issue. From office staff to plumbing assistants(Uber) to Pablo I experienced a team with the upmost integrity about their profession and the services provided. This is unfortunately a rare experience in our current time. Though a difficulty arose they met it with professionalism and integrity. I have used these folks for several jobs and have been impressed with their professionalism and customer service. A couple of years ago they replaced some old copper pipes with new materials and all was well.....until a few days ago when I detected a small leak where two pipes were joined together. Fortunately, I was able to shut water off before basement flooded. We called Blue Planet and they initially said it would be 2 days before they could come out. Well, within an hour or so we got a call from one of their plumbers (Sam I think his name was) said he was on his way and be here in 20 minutes. Also got a text with a picture of Sam saying he was on his way. After evaluating and repairing the leak He said this was due to a bad fitting from their previous repair and waved all charges and apologized on behalf of the company. Our experience with this company thus far is one of the best we've had with a Trade vendor. I had noticed the distinctive Blue Planet (BPP) truck when we first moved to AVL, and looked them up several years ago. I was impressed enough to put them in my contact list for future reference. Our home is a relatively new build, so haven't had problems, but we began to notice an intermittent hum in our water pipes and wondered if it could be due to a water pressure problem. We decided this would be a good time to check out a plumber in a non-emergent situation. BPP has a very good web interface; using it, I sent a message describing my issue and received a call that day (from Tori) who set me up for a visit later that week. It was explained to me that (Matthew) would be coming out to look at our setup and discuss any concerns I had. They send you a text, including the technician's photo when they are en route. He was great to work with, and we discussed several things besides our initial concern, and the relative merits of addressing these items. Received quotes for all the things we discussed that day, one of which was to replace the pressure regulator - which was upgraded from plastic to brass, along with installation of a pressure valve. We also arranged for descaling of our on-demand water heater, (it turns out, long overdue) and replacing the fabric hoses on our washer to a higher quality hose. We also signed up for their service plan. All this work was performed in one call within a week by (Jayson). We were very pleased with their work and interactions with them. A day after the call, I noticed that the hoses on the washer might have been reversed. Visualizing the back of the washer was difficult, so I could see how that might have happened. I called to ask if they could come back and confirm that was the case. They were here the next day and fixed that. Everything was great. And then .... it got better. Several days later I received a call from (Georg) the founder of the company. He had been looking over some of the photos that are routinely taken during the course of a service call and he had noticed (in fact, had been alerted to this by Jayson and/or Matthew) what might have been an issue with the venting of the water heater. This is totally unrelated to the work that they had performed. He asked me to take and send several more photos of the vent area so he could further evaluate the installation. I sent them to him and he called a short time later to see that everything was up-to-snuff. I'm not quite sure what more anyone could expect from a Trade vendor. Thanks to Blue Planet. $$$$$$$$$$ OMG $$$$$$$$$$. Let this be your warning. If you call Blue Planet Plumbing you will either pay the $70+ trip charge or pay triple what any ethical company would charge you. We had no issues with the quality of the work done, but the pricing is another story. Due to other work going on at our house we were committed to using whatever company we called to come out to our house. Unfortunately we called Blue Planet. We moved our washing machine and needed the shutoff valves for our washer rotated 180 degrees. No new pipe, no new drains, no removing of sheetrock, nothing more than rotating the shutoff valves. They replaced the shutoff valves and washer hoses (which was unnecessary)...wait for it....wait for it....$700. One hour of work, 2 shutoff valves and 2 washer hoses...$700. WOW! If we had the luxury of time to call another plumbing company we would definitely not have used Blue Planet and will definitely not use them in the future. An independent plumber would have been in the range of $150 - $200. I knew we were hiring a company that has overhead so I thought it might be in the range of $300-$350. Unfortunately I didn't heed the warnings of the other reviewers who complained about the pricing. The owner's response is always "we are not the cheapest company but we are not the most expensive". That quote is highly debatable. From my experience hiring plumbers over the last 30 years Blue Planet is definitely the most expensive. The owner's other response to pricing complaints is to use the excuse that they give the customer the estimate and let them decide if they want to accept the estimate. This does NOT make the pricing ethical. Some people have no option but to take the estimate and have the work done. The owner also says that they charge by the project and not by the hour. That is because they can't justify their pricing by charging by the hour. No one would pay $700/hr for a plumber. Save yourself a lot of money and call another plumbing company. read more

We needed to have an undermount sink and garbage disposal installed in our kitchen. After reading the positive reviews we had them come out to look a the job. We were quoted $1600.00 of which $600 was to remove the old sink. We mentioned it seemed high and they immediately reduced the quote by $200.00. We didn't accept the quote and I removed the old sink in under an hour. Needless to say we went a different direction and had to whole project done for a quarter of the price. read more

This review is not about the quality of work, but about the outrageous cost. I have had a water heater installed by Blue Planet plus a mixer valve (twice) and a toilet. I have always been very pleased with the quality of the work. However, I recently had two bathroom faucets replaced. I had already purchased the faucets. I was told that it would cost $389 for each faucet! Three weeks earlier I had a kitchen sink faucet installed by T.P. Howard that cost me $128. When I mentioned this and questioned why it was so much more expensive, Matthew called his service manager and came back with a price of $329 for each faucet. But, that also meant that they would guarantee their work for 30 days instead of the usual year. I went ahead with the job and ended up paying $704! The next day I called T.P. Howard and asked how much it would cost to replace a bathroom faucet. They said their service fee is $115/hour and that's what it would be charged at. Allowing a generous 2 hours for the job, I would have paid $230 plus tax. I feel that I was completely ripped off by Blue Planet. T.P. Howard has also replaced the main water line from the meter to my house and added an outdoor faucet, both at very reasonable prices. Although I have been very happy with the work done by Blue Planet, I won't be using them again at those absurd prices! read more
