This darling tea party house is now one of my favorite places ever! The atmosphere is beautiful,…read moreVictorian, peaceful, and nostalgic. My friend and I went here for the first time and it was INCREDIBLE. we weren't rushed at all. The food was amazing. We had tea, chicken salad, a salad with sweet potatoes and feta, and a lemon cranberry scone with lemon curd and homemade sweet cream. I can't recommend this place enough. Ten out of ten !!!

I wish I could review the food but unfortunately we were not told when the reservation was made…read morethat if there are more than 10 people and we had 13, then we are forced to eat the food they say on a special menu. For $50 you get a pot of tea, 1 whole and 1/2 of a sandwich, 2 scones and 6 mini desserts. It's appalling the tiny amount of food that is served. The owner came out and tried to make it sound like it's to our benefit the way the menu is but instead displayed an overbearing personality when she wouldn't even let anyone in our group speak without interrupting us. What a huge disappointment. I had a cup of soup for $5 which was the only exception allowed. It was decent but greasy. Our server did a great job. The lady at the cash register was misinformed by telling us that we could order anything we wanted but then changed her mind. She was at our table at least 6 times seeing if everyone had shown up yet even though everyone who comes through the door walks right by her! What a confusing experience to say the least!

We have lived in Auburn for a decade and first encountered the Brown House while we were building…read moreour house and would pick up dinner on our work breaks. The food had been consistently good. They have classic mom and pop griddled burgers, decent quality meat, made to order, always hot. You can choose from a plethora of fried goods and an in-house prepared breaded tenderloin that represents a Hoosier tenderloin well. In recent years, the business has been passed down to a younger generation. That came with some modern upgrades in marketing and packaging, including online ordering. The economy as well as new owners, has also made portion sizes smaller (a $3 French fry is now smaller than a small at a typical fast food joint) and the prices have also increased. Ten dollar burgers are standard most places now, but over $15 for a burger meal at a drive thru stand may be hard for some patrons to swallow. The custard and soft serve is delicious, albeit, still not a cheap treat. The staff is always efficient and friendly. The inside appears clean and orderly. The outdoor seating area and the appearance is charming, while still maintaining the old school vibes and nostalgia we all love about the Brown House. It's not an inexpensive meal, but the quality is good, service is consistent, and they still include the peppermint in your sack to round off your meal.

I got the classic brown-ie sundae, and it was wonderful! The frozen vanilla custard was dreamy, the brownie chunks were warm and rich, and the hot fudge sauce was thick and decadent! It was topped off with peanuts and whipped cream(I skipped the maraschino cherry). Will definitely go back!
