I went to get my nails done at ALL About You as skeptical as one could be. Could the yelp reviews be true? Could a place in Austin offer great service for a price to fit a small budget? Well I'm here to tell you it's true. It's all true. For 35 bucks, you get a mani pedi. But not your regular mani pedi. The manicure includes parafin wax (which has always been an upgrade at most places), and the pedicure includes a exfoliation scrub, and a hot stone message (again a usual upgrade). The nail techs were super efficient; quick and nice (they even offered to turn the Saints game on the TV). I've been to places here in Austin and this type of service would cost you aroubd 60+ dollars. No need for that anymore. My fingernails look almost polished because they're so well-buffed. They were super nice and gave me the best nail treatment I've ever had. So we stopped randomly at this little nail joint and I was in heaven. Last week I went to All About You for a pedicure and gel manicure based on the positive reviews and proximity to home. The salon has some good qualities, but overall I was unsatisfied with my experience. Pros: -Friendly service and cold water when you arrive. I can't emphasize how nice the staff was. -Large selection of polishes. -The price ($55 for pedicure and gel manicure) was reasonable, especially since I've had a place charge $40 for a gel manicure alone. -Nice music--throwback late 80's/early 90's cheesy love songs-- was fun and a bit of a novelty, and was much better than TV's blaring. -My toenail polish was perfectly painted. -The technician gave me a great neck massage while my hands were in the paraffin wax. Cons: -The place was pretty darn filthy. The instruments were sterilized and pedicure tubs were cleaned after each person, but the floors needed a thorough scrubbing and the manicure table looked like it hadn't been wiped off for a few days. The bathroom had a drain that ran from the ceiling into the hand washing sink, which dripped brown water as I washed my hands. -My gel polish started peeling off in sheets after only 4 days. FOUR DAYS for something that's supposed to last 2 weeks or more. I was out of town for a classy event and had random unpolished nails. Was it painted on too thick? Was the polish old? Who knows. -My cuticles look worse now than before the manicure. This place is not a lost cause; they just need to clean and brush up on technique. read more

Visiting from Vegas and found this place on Yelp. Small and busy shop. Honestly, my mom and I agree these were the BEST pedicures we've ever had. The hot stone leg/foot massage and mini neck/shoulder massage that's included with this service is fabulous!! I also had a regular polish change on my hands and she did such a great job! This family owned and operated salon is the best in Austin. They have remained consistant during my visits over the last year and a half. The moment you walk in you are greeted with a fresh bottle of water. They have an excellent selection of OPI and Essie nail colors for you to choose. They are usually able to take you right away, however if you go and they are busier than usual they will still usually be able to set you up in a chair with warm water and a magazine. Two of my favorite things about All About You: they only take about 45 min for a mani AND pedi as they have two ladies working on you at the same time AND it's only $35 (basic mani and pedi combined)! If you think you are getting the "basic" treatment, think again! Their basic is a deluxe to other places.My nails are always done with great detail, massages are long and feel amazing, and I am so relaxed by the time I'm ready to sit at the drying station. Hot stone massage, paraphen wax on hands (with mani), and the finishing touch is a head/neck massage while you are at the dryer. Last but not least, my nail polish stays on for over 2 weeks(that's beacause I usually want another mani/pedi or a color change). While this place does seem to add a lot of nice extras, the scrub, hot stones, massage, I can't get past the appearance. The place could use some paint and redecorating. The employees are very nice and do a good job but the last time we were there, I got pinched with one of the tools. I went with coworkers and another was bleeding and they didn't start on my boss till me and my other coworker were nearly finished. They don't have a great polish selection but I always bring my own so it doesn't really affect me. I don't think Sinful Colors is that great of a brand for a pedicure salon though and they could stock more Essie. Their scrub is in a big tin jar and they scoop it out with their hands so it didn't seem very sanitary to me. I also prefer to see the tools come out in a sterilized package so I know they're clean. I haven't seen that here. My boss really likes one of the girls who does her pink and whites but I can't recall her name. Really? I don't wanna be mean but to which Salon have all the other people been? I can't believe I am the only unhappy one here! To be honest, it was my first time ever to go to a mani-pedicure, I usually do all these things myself but since I am on holiday I thought I will treat myself and chose this place due to the good recommendations. When I walked into the salon someone from the other end of the room shouted out to me how they can help me. And it was not like the place was over crowded. All employees exept one, who was working on the only other customer, were gathered at the other end of the shop sitting and talking. So far so good, I have no problem with that, if there is not much to do, but at least someone could have come over to the front desk for any kind of greeting or advisory. Oh well, I shouted back that i wanted a standart mani-pedicure, then i was advised to pick a color and to take a seat. I had a lady doing my feet and a guy doing my nails at the same time. It felt like they were on a rush getting everything done as fast as possible even though only one other customer was in the shop. I must say, they were friendly from then on and my pedicure was - alright. Just two complaints: The Sea salt that they use for exfoliating was extremely gritty and not the best thing for my sensitive skin, i wish they would use a milder exfoliating product. When i put my legs back in the water it burnt the heck out of my skin in certain parts. Second: What claims to be a foot massage was just some uncoordinated pressing on my feet. Who ever had a real foot massage knows what i am talking about. Other than that i was pleased with the lady, nothing else hurt or felt uncomfortable and the nail polish job was also nicely done. That is the only reason i am giving two stars here! The worst thing was my "manicure". Geez, I am still getting wind up when i am thinking about that/looking at my nails. Old nail polish and cuticle removing went well but then i couldn't believe that the next things were really happening: He filed my nails unevenly in a round shape leaving some nails longer than the other ones. I complained about that and he tried to fix it more or less afterwards. The worst thing though was applying the nail polish. I can truly and honestly say that i can do that better and i am certainly NOT a Pro who does that on a day to day basis/earning money with it. He applied two coats of "Cute as a button" by Essie (a decent, good quality nail polish brand) and when he was "done" you could see the overlapping of the layers at the roots on some nails. Furthermore there were nail polish left overs on my cuticles and the Polish line borders to the cuticles were far off from being even. They were frizzed out and looked horrible plus i have a bump in one nail. Until the end i was thinking, that he would be fixing that later on but when i was nearly done with drying another customer came in and he took care of her. I was so shocked by that result, that i was too speechless to complain! Honestly, am I the only one with that experience or are my expectations too high? I think that horrible result is due to him doing the manicure standing up and really rushing through the whole process. I told him that i was on holiday so it would have been more than enough time to do mani and pedi one after another. That way i could have enjoyed especially the pedi more. Oh not to forget: "The back massage while the nail polish is drying", what other customers wrote about. I know this is a free service of them but it didn't happen while the nail polish was drying. It happened while the lady was finishing my feet with nail polish. I seriously had to lean over from the massage chair and the same guy who did the manicure slapped my back uncoordinated a few times. I just thought: What the heck was that?!? In addition to that my overall impression was that the salon was a little dirty, toe nails on the floor from previous customers, the floor in the drying area was really dirty too (and i was maybe the 3rd customer on that day) plus i don't see the point holding my nails under a UV Lamp if you just get a color mani. He used OPI as a top coat which is truly not UV activated. Best proof of that: It is not even 48 hours ago and I already have tip wear and a little chip on my right hand. So, IMO i absolutely can not recommend this Salon other than maybe a pedicure if you are in desperate need. read more

Got a shellac manicure and eyebrow wax here this weekend. It was POPPIN' like a P.Diddy party circa 2004. My roommates and I were able to beat the crowds but when we left there were people who were waiting for like 30 minutes at least. They didn't turn anyone away- which is nice but then you can sometimes waste someones time. My nails look great and I liked the massage the manicurist gave me when they were drying. For my brows the lady did a good job but the wax was HOT. I'll be back though because for my nails and my brows it was only $42 total. I thought that was a really great deal! read more

It was my first time at "All about you". I got a $30 Shellac mani (+ $5 tip). The experience was good as my nails were done really beautifully. I'm giving it 4 stars only as the nails were done with a visible gap between my cuticles and the red shellac (you can clearly see it on the photo taken right after my nails were done) which I consider cheating so that a client comes back sooner. Since shellac doesn't chip leaving the gap from the get go forces the client to come back sooner. I'll give it another try and next time I'll ask for the Shellac to be applied as normal nail polish right at the root of the nail. Other than that I appreciated that I was taken as a walk in on Friday at 6pm. And I appreciate the technician who was very detail oriented. read more

I've never had a pedicure that lasted less than a week - ever. This one lasted 3 days tops. The polish started chipping immediately. Extremely disappointing. I'm one of those girls that goes in for a pedicure for special occasions or once every 3 months because I can't put polish in a color on my toes without getting it all over my cuticles and doing major clean up once it's dry. After doing my research on yelp, I went here for the first time. You cannot beat the price for the service they provide. For the same service ( including scrub, parafin wax), other places can easily charge more than $45 for a pedi+madi (see other reviews for detail). They only charge you $35. HOWEVER, The lady who did my pedi and mani seems to be in a hurry to finish my mani when she saw there's a new customer waiting, and she was the one closed to finish her current pedi or mani among other technicians. So, she was rough when she pushed back cuticles and cut the dead skins around my nail. (The edge of one finger still hurts now...few hours after the mani. ) After I said "ow" twice, she became more gentle on my other hand. The polish job on my hands is ok, not too good but not too bad. I discovered the edges of my nails are not fully polished when I was drying my hands. When I was still figuring out what should I said to her, she came, looked at my nails, and fix them. I believe this is probably called "you got what you pay for". Don't get me wrong. I love those additional services and the price, but I doubt the quality. Maybe it is just my "luck". read more

Best prices I could find. I got a gel pedicure and it looks great! However, it was busy when I got there, and I had made an appointment. I wouldn't have minded waiting in the chairs but they started a bath for us and the water was almost cold by the time they got started on our nails, so that was a little eh. I was offered a back massage in the end and it wasn't very pleasing, but it's the thought that counts. I've had my nails done several times at this location. Amy is hands down the best!!! Very detail oriented. I would avoid the manager (I didn't catch his name but you can tell he's in charge) as he is often distracted and works way too quickly/sloppy. $43 for the "basic" manipedi, which included way more touching than I wanted. I left bleeding on four fingers (I don't know about my toes, I can't see them), the polish is bubbling on almost every nail, multiple fingers burn from alcohol getting sprayed in tiny abrasions they created, and every nail is a different (ugly) shape. Plus there is wax all under my nails. I know I'm not the typical customer because i don't want scrubs and lotions and massages. But the bleeding, and the multiple times he dug into my toes hard enough to make me flinch and whimper and multiple times he torqued my toes into painful positions, are more than enough for me to rate it one star and never go back. read more

Do not visit this place. Save time and $$ by reading this. I decided to check this place out because of low prices everyone quoted. I ended up spending more than I ever spent on nails. The male tech helped me pick out a gel color for my nails and I stated I wanted the same color REGULAR nail polish for my toes. He grabbed both bottles. Half way through the pedicure I see he's Drying my feet with the UV lamp and I told him I did not want gel on my feet. His response, "well it will last longer." Clearly he thought I wasn't serious but he told me he would take care of it. After he finished my feet he takes me to the front to check out so I had to remind him I wanted my nails done also. Not only did he cut my cuticles badly and make them bleed, the tools did not look sterilized or even come from a sealed bag. Thy were sitting in a random basket with dirt and dirty cotton bowls already in them. The towel he used to dry my hands after he soaked my nails had other peoples clipped cuticles all over it as well. Let's not forget the bugs flying around and dirty floors. Lastly, I waited at least 5 minutes to pay standing by the door as everyone continued to work without noticing me. Finally the male tech walked up and quoted me $70 immediately and deliberately argued with me saying he will not pay for the miscommunication of me only wanting gel on my nails even thought he picked out both bottles for me and only used the gel bottle. Seems pretty shady. I will never go back to this place again. Worst nail experience ever. The polish looks horrible all over my skin and cuticles. read more
