Sales and Estimate:If you enjoy a 3.5 hour time sales pitch then have D&D give you an estimate. They initially said they needed 1 hour of our time, they came at 5:30 and left at 9p. They start with an estimate that is double most others, then work their way back hard selling the entire time. They claim all their workers are with the company - no contractors (lie #1), I specifically asked do they leave a cement mess in my landscaping: they claimed they have white glove service and no materials like rinsed cement etc are left on property (lie #2). Cancellation Process: After signing, we decided we signed under pressure and duress and needed more time. We asked about canceling and our request was ignored for 4 days, when they responded they said it had passed the cancellation period and that there was a $6,000 fee to cancel. The founder got on the phone after we escalated our argument. Stephen assured me he would make a special effort to "micro-manage the hell out of my project" and I would be extremely happy. I never saw or heard from him after that conversation. Project review: Pablo (nice guy and the only one that promptly responded when we had issues) came out to review the project, dimensions etc. Never saw or heard from Stephen the micro-manager during this process. Demo and base rock layer: (delayed 1 week because initial inspections failed.) Seemed to do an ok job of prepping the base layer. These contractors (not Deck and Drive employees) caused some sidewalk damage that was never repaired even after requesting D&D to repair and then saying they would. I expected any sprinkler plumbing near the driveway to be destroyed and it was, however I was told they would leave it exposed or marked where the remaining pipes were - I had to dig up the base layer to find and repair the plumbing. Never saw or heard from Stephen the micro-manager during this process. Install: Contractors (not D&D employees) did the install. They were nice and did an ok job, with the exception of not getting the dimensions correct as contracted and shown on plan. The second day when it looked like they were finishing, I asked them to measure and compare to the plan, they took the time to extend the width at that point to plan. The area between the sidewalk and street was never extended to meet the street, instead they put an asphalt patch to make up the 6-8 inch gap.The micro-manager might have caught this - if only he had stopped by. Overall the job was ok, better than the previous asphalt driveway but not as nice as I hoped for based on Stephen the micro-manager's promise. Btw, never saw or heard from Stephen the micro-manager during this process. Sealing: a couple weeks after the install someone came out and cleaned, resanded, and sealed the driveway. Meh, several gaps remained. Never saw or heard from Stephen the micro-manager during this process. Permits and Inspections: After a couple of weeks I noticed the inspections were not scheduled on the city website, I called D&D, their dedicated permitting office somehow missed this and scheduled the inspections, which failed the first time through. Never saw or heard from Stephen the micro-manager during this process. Customer Care and Followup: never ( I waited 3 months to post this review) heard from Deck & Drive to ask how it went. They simply never reached out to ask. They are focused solely on sales and not on customer satisfaction, it's like they could care less. I would be surprised if this company lasts much longer.

Our experience with Deck and Drive (D&D construction) has been extremely disappointing. From the…read morestart, the work was full of mistakes, poor workmanship, and almost no communication. Pavers were installed in the wrong direction and wrong colors, the walkway was placed incorrectly, cement was left exposed, no underlayment was installed under the sand (so now we have weeds growing up through our pavers), and then they even installed pavers over an active sprinkler head. They repeatedly missed appointments, sent crews during all-day rain (so no work could be done on those days), and ignored our requests for basic protection around our home. Before D&D even started our project, they told our finance company it was "substantially complete," and they tried to collect full payment. Then later, despite the project being nowhere near complete, D&D again told our finance company it was "substantially complete" and tried to collect full payment. Due to the lack of progress, the quality concerns, and D&D's refusal to provide a corrective plan in writing, we no longer felt comfortable allowing them to continue. In response, D&D placed a lien on our home and threatened foreclosure. To protect ourselves, we felt forced into having to hire an attorney to try to rectify all the issues. We have now been in this lawsuit for well over a year, with pallets and sand still blocking our driveway, and our front entrance is still not fully usable. Based on our experience, we can not recommend Deck and Drive (D&D Construction). This review doesn't even represent all of the issues we have with D&D in regard to our project. There are so many issues, we can't even write them all in this review. Instead of addressing legitimate concerns and correcting their mistakes, they chose to pressure, misrepresent progress, and ultimately sue and threaten to foreclose on their customers. We are not the only customers to be involved in a lawsuit against D&D. We are #5.

Then on a Saturday morning they would randomly call wanting to come over when I had company. It went on for three weeks before I finally had a company that does nothing but sealing do it. Also, the pavers are sinking, are uneven and have caused a tripping hazard. That has nothing to do with sealing. The flagpole would not stay up in any weather. the four pieces would fall in on themselves, so I was left with one three foot flagpole. Multiple people tried to fix it. I finally just pulled it out of the ground with one hand. I do appreciate you getting in touch and trying to fix this, but with such a history of so many things being done wrong, done poorly, or not done, it seems foolish to continue - I simply have no confidence it would ever be done right, so I will take responsibility for fixing it.

After they finished installing my pavers they outsourced the sealing to another company. They came and sealed everything quickly and without issues. A month later I start noticing weeds popping up and several parts of my driveway and backyard. Sealing: Sealing pavers should prevent most weeds from growing due to the sealer going in between the cracks and hardening. I've had pavers sealed at least five times in previous homes by different companies and once by my own two hands. My parents have been sealing their pavers for at least 20 years. I even confirmed with neighbors in my same neighborhood and all of them said they either get no weeds or one or two pop up every few months. The neighbors sealed their home between a month and a year and a half ago. I found at least a dozen competitors websites in Broward county that say sealing prevents weeds. I contacted the company and they just kept giving me the runaround on the phone saying sealing pavers do not prevent weeds. Eventually several weeks later the owner showed up to take a look. All he did was give me the runaround and wasted 30 minutes of my time talking in circles. Everything I said in the previous paragraph in this review did not matter to him. We both also found an issue with a small part of the paver install that he said "This is shitty work". He also mentioned several times that he wanted to look at what I paid for the sealing After our conversation he left and never heard back from him or the company again. Not even for the paver install mistake or about his questions about payment. It's now been 3 months and weeds are growing several times faster and I'm out there at least every other day spraying for new weeds. When in the past I sprayed for a few weeds maybe once every 2 to 3 months. Wasted $1045 for sealing. Permits: Took about 5 months to get a permit which is not unusual right now due to the backup. But 2 to 3 months into getting the permit, the process got delayed because we had to fill out five more forms that they did not know about. They have done at least a dozen homes in my neighborhood in the last year and a half. So I don't understand how this happened.
