I was so surprised as my Mom was clever she took the chairs as the had exposed legs,longer legs and Ruben Upholstered them in a heavy off white with a dark red stripe added the shirt covering the legs but kept the integrity of the Baker fine tailoring matching the stripes and cut the welt on the bias. The two chairs are used often and look like new.stunning from every angle. Sense then as a designer by trade Ruben has done several large jobs to small changes or updating on individual items. One thing if your like myself or My Mom and have a concept or idea he is able to carry it out and its so satisfying to have someone actually carry out the concept to a reality and leave you pleased beyond your expectations. I find Rubens professionalism and the way he has accommodated me on jobs with clients invaluable! Because he is rare a man of his word and He remembered and always gave me the extra fabric or suggested and made some very beautiful accent pillows and the best part is his labor is reasonable and just the finest tailoring replicating the original details to a T. It is important that you know your community and you are willing to negotiate as a family business. That is what will keep your business alive. I was really excited over the reviews, saying how quick they were to get back, how reasonable their prices were, and how they were willing to work with everyone. When I asked them for a quote to re-upholster 17x20 dining room chair, they wanted to charge $75 a piece for 6 dining room chairs. No deal, no hourly rate; no negotiation whatsoever. Then they said that they would not do delivery because normally you can "unscrew" the seat of the chair. I'm sorry, but by the time I unscrew the chair and bring a bunch of those over to you with my own fabric, what am I even paying you for? This might be really reasonable for upper class people. They did say at this business that reasonable is relative and I would agree. I was not able to get my service done here because it is way too steep. They were cordial, but clearly exclusive.
