Although the sanctuary itself is NOT open to the public, I was honored to have the opportunity to participate in one of the volunteer days there. I can not even begin to describe the depth of consideration that is taken by the staff to care for the elephants that reside there. In one day I learned so much more about elephants and the sanctuary. There is so much more to the operation of this organization than I could have ever imagined. Currently the discovery center is where the staff provides public education to bring awareness of elephants and the crisis that they are facing in their natural habitats due to poachers and being held in captivity for entertainment purposes. During volunteer day I 1st visited the discovery center for orientation. It is definitely a work in progress as they are actively expanding the center to provide a more interactive experience to learn about and help elephants. There is also have various merchandise available at the center. I certainly encourage visiting the discovery center and supporting this awesome organization. .

My brother collects rare forms of shot glasses so this was perfect for his collection. It was about $10 but I thought it was worth it since it was one of a kind. Upon purchase we were gifted a regular Jack Daniel's shot glass. So $10 ended up not being bad between a very unique one and a regular. My friend was debating about a shot glass and a whiskey glass. She went with the glass and was pleasantly surprised to be given a shot glass as well.
