BEWARE!, THEY HAVE CHANGED!!! We've had our windows cleaned by them several times over the past dozen years. Today they arrived to clean the windows in our house AND our rental house next door. FROM the minute they arrived something was different. The "lead" washer immediately was full of questions and complaints: did you remodel? This door isn't on the list. Your window locks don't work. I made it known that his company had been here multiple times and that I dealt with them instead of smaller, more local outfits expressly b/c they offered a price over the phone for a 20 window special and they honored it. No upcharges, no questions, no issues. That's what i was expecting. He changed tones and let me know that he had updated his worksheet to reflect the current window make up and everything was still covered by the advertised price. The crew cleaned our windows and screens, collected my signature, accepted my tip(offered out of habit and sense of obligation. NOT for a job well done) and went next door to clean the windows in the rental property we own there. (Let me add that the rubber seal on several of the screens they had just cleaned and replaced, were left hanging out of place. It is minor and I have since fixed them myself, but none the less indicative of the level of workmanship you can expect).
At any rate, I looked over at the rental to see the "Lead" not working but talking with my tenant and gesturing at the windows. I went out to find him engaged in a discussion about the price of washing the windows.
First things first, this "lead" employee knew full well that I was the owner of both houses and the person responsible for the bill. He was fully informed by his work orders that the residents were tenants and the owner (me) lived next door. He further knew that pricing had been discussed by the owner (me, again) and his office multiple times prior to the beginning of work. So in what capacity was he discussing price with the tenant?
Now the larger issue. I had spoke to the office at the time of booking the service (approximately 2 weeks prior to the day of work). At that time I explained that the windows had been streaked/smudged when I had the house power washed and painted and I was reluctantly having them cleaned for the tenants. We agreed that since the storms were down ALL COUNTY would only clean the outside of the storms, nothing else. I estimated there were about 30 windows and the woman on the phone quoted me $13 per window. We agreed that I would review with the crew on the day of washing to decide which windows did or did not need cleaning and any that required more than just the outside of the storm cleaned. Price would change based on the actual number of windows and any cleaning beyond just the outside of the storms. On the day of service, as the crew were cleaning the windows in my residence I called the office to re evaluate the quote. It is a 2 family house and one tenant had no issues with the condition of the windows while the other stated that the streaks and smudges were on both sides of their storms and the exterior of the actual windows. With this information I asked for a quote for the inside and outside of the storms AND the exterior of the windows for a total of 16 windows (the amount in the unhappy tenants unit). I was quoted $575 all in including taxes. I asked how to bring the total down to and even $500 and was told that they would wash 14 windows for $503.42 all in with tax. I would clean the other two windows myself. We agreed to the price and hung up.
Cut to two hours later when the "lead" is talking to my tenant. He explains to me that he knows what I discussed with his office but he has a price sheet and his price sheet reigns supreme. Several of the 14 windows are not single panes of glass but six over six. His price sheet says these windows are $50 each to clean so I can forget about the $503.42 I agreed on earlier; his price sheet is all that malters.
I explained once again that I have used ALL COUNTY repeatedly over many years expressly because their word was always their bond and exactly what he was now doing was what I avoided by dealing with them in past. I tried to call the office and speak with the woman who had provided me the quotes in the first place, but at 3PM on a Friday afternoon, she was long gone. He put me on speakerphone with his manager who scoffed when I asked to speak with either the owner of the business or the woman who sold me the service less than two hours before. When I told him my position that this was unacceptable moving of the goal posts and that they could either wash 14 windows for the agreed upon price, or never work on either of my houses again, he agreed that that was fine with him. He raised his voice and told me he was done with me. The crew left and no work was done.
I have called to leave a message explaining that this was no way to treat a long time repeat customer and have not heard a word. read more
