Adopting an incredibly smart German Shepherd mix as a first-time dog owner probably wasn't the smartest move. Frida can be a bit anxious at times and had previously gone through punishment-based training. She did not listen when called, and would test my boundaries on walks by chewing the leash or even barking at me. Amelia quickly helped me communicate better with my dog and worked with Frida directly to show her what a calm, gentle walk looks like. She showed me how to bring Frida's focus back when she's distracted by another dog or triggered by a loud noise or other unexpected events. I cannot say enough good things about how Amelia has helped with our anxious dog. I don't think we would have predicted that after 4 sessions, our little barker with a not-so-little-bark could walk the sidewalks without lunging... but even today, our 40lb bully stayed calm when she was barked at, she stayed calm when Amazon was dragging those bags on the sidewalk near us, and she even stayed calm when some one yelled 'cute dog' from a very loud motorcycle. We worked with Amelia to train our rescue lab, Jack. Jack is a bit older and was already fairly well-behaved, so our main focus areas were getting the basic commands down, loose leash training, and recall.
