I had forgotten that my vehicle, which had recently been serviced, didn't have a house key on the key ring. So, I started looking for all the 24-hour locksmiths in the Smithfield area. Surprisingly, he was the only one who picked up the phone, even though every other business claimed to offer 24-hour service. When he finally arrived 20 minutes later, he tried the front door for about 20 minutes but couldn't get in because the locks were upside down. Then, he tried the side garage door, which is when the fun began. He tried to pick the deadbolt and lock for about 30 minutes, but he couldn't get it because the locks were also upside down. I explained that I was renting the property and hadn't installed these locks. By this time, it was almost 1:00 am. He then suggested drilling the deadbolt lock. I was exhausted from holding my phone as a flashlight and standing out in the cold. After drilling for 10 minutes, he finally drilled the deadbolt and used bags on the door. I got into the garage and had one more door to get into the kitchen. I couldn't pick that one either after trying for 10 minutes, but I was able to after removing the trim and using bags on the door. By this time, it was around 2:00 am. In conclusion, he charged me $150 and said he would come back on Sunday to replace the deadbolt he had drilled, but he never came. I called him on Monday and he said he had forgotten about Sunday and would come on Monday evening, January 19th, but he never came. Then, he said he was coming on Tuesday morning, but I hadn't read his messages and was already halfway to my work site. I asked if he could come in the evening, but I could see he had read my message, but he didn't respond. So, I'm just going to take the L train and tell my story. So anyways since my wife's car has a newer vehicle with better security around the door frames(the trims), he wasn't able to get in, he said he didn't want to ruin the vehicle with the tools that he had, which is totally fine and reasonable. So then triple A sent another locksmith out to our location at the rest stop, which that 2nd company was called: Eastern Locksmith. And that locksmith had old school tools which he got into the vehicle which I was super surprised, but hey Steven's Towing did a fabulous job too!! I sent a text to Loc Doc on Monday afternoon, Tuesday morning I went to the web site and filled out a simple form and Tuesday evening Steve called me up. Wednesday 9:00 am Steve and David came to the house, took off the three locks and quickly determined that corrosion was the problem for all three and explained what I should do in the future to prevent. They cleaned up the mechanisms, re-installed, made sure that they were working smoothly and then went and sprayed SuperSlick into all of the other locks. They were here (a truly remote location in Pitt County) for about 90 min and charged $175. Then they headed across the creek to Yoder's for breakfast. Good guys, great service. Recommend highly.
