No sense of being forced into un-needed treatments. Also the kindest and most sensitive handling of my 7 year old dog. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you all at Brockwell Vets and so pleased you are about to get your new consulting rooms. Good Luck
I thought I'd play the long game before leaving a review as to whether my last trip to this vets…read morecould have been avoided if the staff had been just a bit more diligent/competent following treatment of one of my cats for struvite crystals costing me nearly a bag of sand. A second emergency visit was needed 18 months later for the same issue and it was costing me more than I could afford so the practice advised me take it to blue cross for follow up checks. However when I collected my cat the owner whom has always been nice and fair, and to be honest did deduct some treatment costs, and this was before what I'm about to reveal. Like I said upon collecting my cat and paying nearly another grand the owner said to me about feeding a diet of prescription food particularly 'Hills' they do a CD range for urinary issues. Good advice but I then told her that on my first visit no one ever mentioned this when I collected and paid the bill. Nothing what so ever about after care if I had known then I would have fed him the prescription food as I've done so ever since. You should have seen the look on the owners face as she looked to her staff with eyes that said it all. Naturally she didn't say anything in front of me but I sure feel she would have once I left, because if her staff had been competent or diligent enough to inform me of the aftercare on my first visit just maybe the second costly visit could have been avoided. Now I say I'm playing the long game with this review because since the owner told me about the prescription food he's been fed it and has to date not had any urinary tract/struvite crystals issue, nearly four years clear. I won't be using again I would rather take my pets to organisations like animals charities such as PDSA, Blue Cross etc as the staff are motivated by the welfare of the animals rather than private vets that are driven by fiscal targets. It's a sad case because this could have been avoided if some degree of professionalism into the welfare, particularly the aftercare of the animals they are treating was considered.

I recently purchase an aquarium, the necessary paraphernalia and (after having cycled my tank off course) a red and white fantail goldfish (called "Mo"). While prices for us Yanks are expensive everywhere in London, this place is no exception. HOWEVER, the customer service is EXCELLENT!!! Northcote Pet Stores

As far as small, independently owned pet shops go, this was is probably as good as it gets, but…read moreit's not without its downsides. It covers all the animals you might expect a middle-class Clapham resident to have in her home. Dogs, cats, birds, fish, hamsters, ferrets, rabbits, gerbils, rats and mice - Northcote Pet Stores has supplies for your little furry/scaled/feathered baby. Of interest to me particularly are the rat supplies. Northcote has two types of rat food, which is pretty surprising; I'm lucky to find one type of rat food in most pet stores. However, the store doesn't sell any litter appropriate for rats (it needs to be dustless, so woodchips simply will not do). There are at least seven different types of small-animal cages available for purchase; however, again, none of them are suitable for rats. If you have a more commonly kept pet, Northcote Pet Stores will have you covered for all your needs, and its prices are reasonable. For me, I still need to purchase things online and from other pet stores for my ratty babies, so Northcote simply can't be my go-to place for pet supplies. But it's still pretty damn good, and the staff is always friendly.

Anyhow they stock most things I need for my guinea pigs and Pygmy hedgehogs (food, bedding - not so great for cages etc but it is a really small shop) and have always offered to order in anything else i've wanted. When I had my staffy dog, they would order her favourite toys in for her! What I like most about this pet shop is that the full time staff really care about the animals in the shop - and will happily give as much advice as they can. I've seen them refuse to sell fish to people that don't have tanks set up etc and to me that is the mark of a good pet shop - caring about the animals more than the customers - as it should be!! I'd give you 5 stars, but I don't want you both to get big heads! hahahaha

Before I discovered this pet supplies store, I was buying from Amazon, which was often sold out of the only type of litter I liked. Their membership card is free and a portion of the store's proceeds go to charity of your choice. You can also find small pets here: small birds and parrots, gerbils, rabbits and chinchillas. They also have dog grooming. Those who say you can get a better deal at Tesco obviously aren't picky about the quality of products they are getting for their pets.
